Neelathamare punyam choodiyen Lyrics Meaning

The song lyrics is something else all together . So in the film there is a myth about Neelathamara (Water Lily/Blue lotus) According to believers, if they offer a one rupee note at the temple pond and prays deeply to the god, the flower will blossom the next morning and his/her wish will turn into truth.

Neelathamare punyam choodiyen... dhanyamaam thapasill

The song is kind of like an ode to the flower how the flower is like the crown for his virtuos tapas.

Oh flower, You set ripples in the calm blessed river

aavani naalil njaan kaniyekum kavadi nee aninju

In avani month you have worn the Kavadi( is a ceremonial sacrifice and offering practiced by devotees) i gifted you .

I think linking nature and feelings really gives beauty to the expression that is not achieved when written in a direct fashion - atleast not always.. why do they not write like this in ANY language?

I wish we could tell entire country about Malayalam songs 😆

Wish they would do this in every other language , I think in Tamil too we have beautiful lyrics . Kannada very few, Bollywood too its very rare.

I love how malayalam cinema works and the kind of films they churn out man, the stars dont shy away from playing commoners .😊

I have listened to Ethu kari raavilum, Azhagiye and Lailakame and loved all 3😊

..so the woman is personified as the sacred flower and the admirer is the devotee..? Or is it only between the flower and the devotee? 😊 I didn't watch the video only listened to the audio, so, I thought it was a romantic song :) .. but like always I am fascinated by these lyrics in either cases, beautiful writing.. thankyou for taking your time and for the beautiful translation 😃

I listened to Neelathamare again and re-read the lyrics, I'm actually blown away by the beautiful variety in song-writing... Malayalam songs are the best. 😭

Yup, Tamil song-writing is also almost like Malayalam :)

Some of the writers in Tamil are published poets and novelists. Two come to mind, Kannadasan and Vairamuthu especially.
