It is interesting how you put that 😆

And, LOL the purple color is to distinguish my reply from the quoted post.

I was in the profession for 5.5 years...and I will agree 101% with whatever Aamir said...
especially the private college donation part...

I would have loved to told him about MCI inspections... its a joke..! patients 'bhaade' pe laaye jaate hai... truck full of patient just one day before inspection...chairs from tent house...and the list goes in...and end mein...a huge amount in MCI's pocket...and voila! Registration done... PG seats done... its a big market...

I think today's episode was BRILLIANT!!👏 In fact this is the first episode of Satyamev Jayate with which I have no problems at all! Much better than all other episodes we've seen till date!

- There was more focus on facts, stats, information and evidence and not all focus on tears, tragic stories. This is a very commendable achievement on their part. It upgrades the show's standards.

- I am glad doctors and experts spoke more than only Aamir doing most of the talking or only victims crying their heart out. I always wondered why experts talked less and only victims and Aamir seemed to dominate. But this episode corrected this!

- Absolutely L-O-V-E-D the way Aamir Khan grilled the official from MCI!!😆👏 That man looked so speechless at all stats thrown in his face by Aamir and all the expos by audience!😃 Dho daala!! I wish he does such stuff with corrupt authorities in every episode!

- It was nice to hear Dr. Devi Shetty's interview (as all other doctors featured in this episode). And it was appreciable that he gave message to youngsters and not Aamir Khan!

- The episode was truly very informative and well-presented for lay-persons and ordinary people to understand properly. It struck the right balance.

- The emotions part was very much there in this episode, but I am glad it was not the only highlight and was balanced superbly with solid discussion on cold facts and also some humour and sarcasm in talks with MCI official and other doctors with regards to corruption.

- Aamir Khan has improved a lot as an anchor and it shows. But still I think he should cut down on his sighs, resist from wiping tears too often or hanging his head in shame when he hears something shocking. I wish he avoids getting carried away and refrains from resorting to gestures that can look theatrical at times. Still, must give it to him for improving a lot in this week's episode! 😊

- Nexus between path labs and hospitals/clinics, lack of focus of government on healthcare, quality of profession going down, corruption in medical colleges itself (super high capitation fees demanded by private colleges etc.), people suffering due to corrupt doctors in both rural and urban areas - all aspects covered very well. First time, it felt that the show justified its 1.5 hour duration!👏

- Glad the balance was maintained by highlighting doctors who do good work and are frustrated by bad examples in their profession and another one who did get into corrupt practices, but repented later and changed his ways! Very well rounded coverage!👏

- FIRST TIME that an episode of SMJ had energy, a certain zing to it and was not just filled with air of despondency! I appreciate its presentation and handling, infusing some energy than merely arousing emotion of sadness or anger at system.

If all episodes are going to be like this one and if Aamir improves a bit more as an anchor, then seriously this show is going to be peerless!

9.8/10 for this episode of Satyamev Jayate! The best of the lot so far!

hiii Kavya 🤗I'm doing well... what about you?

Well I have seen it all with my own eyes Kavya...and you the donation amount for a Radiology PG seat...1 crore 10 lakh! and yes people pay that much to get through...what I can never understand is how much time it takes to recover the donation amount...but its mostly given by students whose parents are doctors and they already have a solid set up...easier for them...

Well MCI inspection is a joke! what the rule books say, you won't even find half of it in private medical colleges... yeah truck full of patients..flower pots for decoration 😆 its one big circus... Its like one big wedding preparation...and ultimately to MCI inspectors are paid a huge amount...whether you have the required beds does not even matter! and trust me all this will never change... it's like so deep rooted in the society... I have seen all this so closely...

@annika20 I agree with you- in the first episode, I got carried away because of the concept and the emotions sort of hit home. The next two episodes, I was not convinced because of lack of proper discussion. I found today's episode quite informative and it helped that we got to know the details from the people who are IN the profession. That lends a credibility to it and like I mentioned, the stories bolstered the discussion rather than the issues being discussed in the context of the stories.

And I also agree about the theatrical gestures , I observed that too and it seemed rehearsed today - somehow Aamir seems to be getting carried away at times, finding it difficult to reign in on the actor within, to let the anchor emerge.

I know a close relative who had worst experience with a psychiatrist. Mental health issues are tricky terrain as they are difficult to diagnose and detect. Physical ailments are at least visible to everyone.

I remember how a relative's mildly depressed mother was admitted by that psychiatrist in his hospital, put with other patients with worse condition! Staying with them, her condition deteriorated further and drugs he prescribed her spoiled her mental condition even more. She became addicted to those medicines and till date cannot function normally without her dose!🤢

A patient who could have been treated with light medication and some proper counselling was literally made worse thanks to that money-hungry psychiatrist!! And you don't put a mildly depressed person in same ward as a patient with serious mental disorders! Didn't he realise how it would affect her vulnerable psyche?😡

That man is infamous for making most people believe that they suffer from some serious mental disorder and giving them medication whether they need it or not. Most people are ignorant about mental health issues and there's stigma also around mental sickness, so this man uses their fears to fleece them and keep them addicted to his so-called treatments for years!🤢

Correct me if I am wrong but radiologists work with cancer patients right? What troubles me is what if the guy/gal who is doing radiology is not competent enough? How can donation ensure that one becomes a good doctor? It is not a must that the children of doctors should turn out good doctors, right?

I know change cannot happen over night Manali but we should start somewhere right? If MCI takes strict measures, may be it will help? I hope Aamir follows up on the progress with the MCI chief, he committed that he would take action against the wrong doers on national tv. At least now that people are aware, especially students they should wake up and may be they should go out on a rally and discourage this "practice", if the students call out on the management's deeds, it might force them to stop this.

I agree with every word you said Bazinga.

And I agree, how about medical students forming a collective and protesting against such practices? It would make a difference for sure!

@Annika, so agree with you, i think the best part about todays show was how the guests took the centrestage, putting out the problem, cause and current situation of this malice so clearly.

Absolutely, l.o.v.e.d MCI chairman's grillin , the way Aamir flinged all those facts blew the facade behnd which these govt agencies hide, did u see how that ketan desai was again reinstated as the chairman even after the corruption charges such is the plight of this nation.

The root cause of this problem is lack of doctors and the quality of govt hospitals.
I was one of those aspiring doctors who actually managed to crack one of the prestigious med papers but for better sense i backed out, but during the course I was subjected to wittness the shambling condition of medical education in India, where degrees r bought and the presence of thriving private 5-star academies which charge a bomb 4 this education , result being these young doctors resort to dirty tricks to get back their investments, thet dont want to work in govt hospitals.

Pharma and medical sales representative is a very bg nexus , it is truely a mafia raj, I had no idea there existed any generic drug store in India.

There is a national level run service known as CGHS which provides medicines and treatment to govt employees at very nominal yearly investment but the sad part is inspite of a running infrastructure it has not been explored and developed further, if they r made more effective it ould grossly cut the pressure on govt run hospitals and please govt needs to maintain the hygenic condition of these hospitals.

Bravo Effort by AK productions, 1st episode which kept me connected and actually said what i wanted to lay down !
