I hated :

Saras inflicting self injury : not done, not acceptable, under any circumstances

I loved :

Saras found the letter

His regret " kaash tum Mera intezar kar paati"

Their conversation - seedhi, poori, Saras ne kahi, Kumud ne suni

She insisted he put medicine

Haq and hadd both - (thanks Ivy for the term )

Haq - she got him the bandaid and insisted he put it

Hadd - she did not touch him

Main aaj bhi tumse...

She vented out all her anger, frustration, feeling

And then he told her...

Her tears, her anguish, her pain

Aur ek sailab aaya, aansuon ka

Saari kadwahat beh gayee

Today her face has serenity

Her pooja gave her tranquility

Truth gave her freedom

Closure and a desire

To rebuild her life

With Pramaad

I loved the episode

Loved the way this toofan

Swept away all the bitterness

And left a sense of peace after it abated!!!

Gautam, Jen - too good, loved you both

These two! Jenny and G.R. Arshi, I tell you, they leave me speechless time and again. Today they raised the bar higher even from their customary lofty standards. I don't feel adequate enough to praise them. What a SMASHING performance today! I also got an answer- why am I getting so involved while analysing two fictional characters as if they are real people- flash, blood and feels aka real 'persons'. These two!

Don't feel like adding anything, it was such a perfect episode. Even if they keep on giving one such, once a week, the watch is worth perhaps. Serendipity- they are belting out much more than 'once' in a week in this show. And yes Cvs thanks for bringing forth 'haldi bowl' with mirroring reflections of pain-bonds, heals and 'links'.

But I do want to express a major misgiving that I have restrained so far in some token disagreements only, normally as an avoidance and also as a deference to the 'opinions'- so to say.😕

The prevailing refrain is 'Her willing 'choice' in opting to marry'. 'Her wounded 'pride' in her 'choice' to marry'. In short, Her 'hasty' (and!) 'decision'!!😲 None of this has a just base in objective facts that narrative is presenting (even much more NOT SO in the source). A one easy finger is, "but she did marry 'in spite of' her being a modern, decisive, adult person, 'that she is'. It becomes a 'choice' and 'decision'."...Can't see a logic more twisted to browbeat entire portrayal of the narrative... Questions are; 1) was she decisive? And even more 2) 'was it her choice?'...

The back episodes clearly showed; a) an inert numbness after the fatal stab. And b) it was her complete submission to what her father is 'deciding' for her. Her father's honour and family's compulsion. She was accepting what is being 'thrust' on her as dead acceptance. There was a specific dialogue on her,' bapu janha kahenge...' And VC had avowed, 'Kumud shall get married on the same day.' Also,"meri zindgi ka faisala me nahi...and 'i have no dream now, i would only fulfil parents' wish and guidance..." A two way thrust, imposed on her by a reneging suitor and panicked father. How do one take away any liability from these two 'deciding' forces??

As for 'choice', when since a dead acceptance/ submission- like a doomed person unable to maintain foothold under force of flood torrent- would be deemed a choice?!🤢 Two scenes are enough- her indifference to see the photograph of 'choice'. And her inability to participate any ritual in the marriage- so much that a parent had to come and nudge her onwards.🥱

What a convolution? A culprit who individually alone has opened a floodgate, is granted lee way of a 'past trauma rendering him incapable of rationale' and hence not truly culpable of the 'action'. But victim of that flood- because she is 'adult' and happened to be in the way of an unleashed flood- is actually a culprit for allowing that flood to sweep her away! Amazing. 'Decision' and Choices?! Indeed.

Today scriptwriters have emphasised these points in Kumud. IMO...

..wow brilliant post..👏👏..dil ki baat, haaqq n limitsl👏..thnku arshi n shana for explaing this points...iwas not able 2 understand the logic...but thn well done by cv's 2 show this ..i loved it ..but still i felt it could have been more better...espically the dilogoues for kumud...

Arshi, yes totally dil-ki-baat wala episode... and contrarily also a sukoon-wala one, although rather tear-soaked sukoon ..😊

Agree with smith, both Jenny and Gautam put in superlative performances, CV's as well, they unravelled the mystery in two stages - did he come at all on wedding night? and what led him to make that phone call? (As I said a while ago, the man who came to see Kumud on Karva Chauth night was not the same person who made that phone call... At this point I'm no longer into debating which of Saras or Kumud has more to be sorry about, I think it ws very much a joint effort, and now both Saras and Kumud have come around to the same pov, looks like... though Saras ever the gentleman is striving to take more of the blame and responsibility onto his plate...That's Ok, too, because "he" physically made the call after all.)

Loved the way the whole scene was choreographed, starting from Saras finding K sleeping in armchair in exact same pose as he found her sleeping on stool next to his bed in VC's haveli, long ago... the first time ever he saw her...

Poignant the way these two are always providing pattis for each other, whereas PPP only talks about pattas...

The part where K supervises Saras bandaging his hand, without touching him at all, was the most romantic ever... Standing ovation for whoever wrote that title song as well..👏

Edit - pre-cap: Havent got over Kumud removing her mangalsutra, and Kalika holding it? ... most likely a red herring ala the interrupted phone connection between Kusum and Saras. 😲

didnt watch the epi. Its a shocker from CVs. Letting it out completely through Saras's mouth. Wish they also made him say how the meeting date was changed by Guman to belittle him and his love.

Always believed in Kumud's sincerity in trying to build her marriage. But this truth(of Saras's situation)- wont it weaken her a bit and make it harder to accept her marriage in totality? That truth has been juxtaposed by the truth of Pramad n Kalika. Well didnt she get the hint already?

A small but interesting point today was a painting on the wall in BD's house, shown prominently when Saras has just made an moment's contact with Kusum on the phone. It was a facsimile of the famous Ravi Varma painting of Damayanti with the swan that many of us may have seen around.

The swan is of course a symbol of Saraswati, and was sent to Damayanti with a message from Nala, communicating his dil ki baat... but what do you think the CV's were they trying to say, if anything? Any ideas anyone??

(This is the very first time they showed an identifiable piece of art in the BD house, most of the decorations have been without any character)

Edit- After google-research, The picture may be a reference not to the swan or the message, but to the story of Nala-Damayanti itself...Nala, after losing his kingdom, abandoned Damayanti under the influence of an evil God Kali (as in kaliyug), and believing she would be better off without him... sounds familiar??

Also it looks like their love story was pretty epic, ... and survived all sorts of trials including loss of wealth, abandonment, separation, etc. Equally telling like smrth's comment on popularity of names, I have only ever met one person called after Nala, but many called Damayanti...😆

Arshi respecting your sensibility, I want to disagree...

This 'self harm' was quite purposeful in narrative; rt. from her 'awakening' like an unexpected flare leapt from a dormant dead volcano, the scene was built as a partial resolution to an internal meshing of these two that can no longer be sustained in its such a smouldering state.

The steam/ tension hissed out in many forms. Ink, blood, words, stares, tears, repels, threats, sutures but above all, an unbroken bond, now manifest more acutely in Pain. Pen which traced her oozing wounds on a paper, also blazed a visible wound on his person. Rt. from her startled 'oh' to his dazed face eventually equally contorted as her angry voice to stop it, their shared breathlessness tr entire reprisal, their visible disclaimers and invisible 'claims', there was only one fact that transpired undisputed. They are so One, even they can not forge a sunder now. However much they may grind. Gory blood was a seal witness of the Fact...As that haunting beats BG tried to capture; relentless march of the fate,

dhim, dhim, dhim tanana, dhim dhim dhin.

But Lines were every where. Normally she would have snatched that piercing tip. But there was a line of sharpnel. normally, she would have grabbed the hand and applied. But now a line limiting her..and just as Saras tried to overstep a line...she flared.

Besides, would submit an individual 11/10 for giving us pure Samud episode. But for tails at both the ends, there were only two of them. Scintillating, mesmerising and at their personal best; Jenny- G.R./ Saras and Kumud. For a sheer delight.
