Vaishali, much as I decide to avoid 'the original', it gets in somehow. Such is the power of parallelism! So once more; showing more on her is a very important cog that preserves the link to the original. That day when Saras was telling VC, " won't you remember Kaka? How she is holding this entire family under one roof? Her toils, her diligence?' And many here won't even know what was being referred. I feel like sharing, despite her being a non glamorous, elder character. Why, in any good story, side characters, specially well etched, always contribute hugely towards formation of a sound platform which holds the overall experience memorable. It needs not be only about leads. The whole fabric ought have been woven well perhaps, isn't it?lComing to Guniyal, as one of the favourite character of older generation ( my mom likes her most), She is correctly held in high esteem, if going as per original. Here in frenzy of 'Dukh baa/ dugba' she is vastly blotted out and then, that 'purist' in me, still lurking, does make an uneasy shift, besides...coming to her, she is not even an empty extension, in her story, its actually Kumud, who is better understood- how she is formed. Where she is coming from. That day, when Kumud was patiently tackling Saras's insecurity, it was Guniyal who has taken over as her mentor. There was not a trace of insecure, high pitched Dukh baa then. When I found her soothing then, I was also reminded of Guniyal. Today, Cvs have revealed something more of her. And today, more then leads, i was observing her...the way she eased out her agitation and make her go into a secured sleep...I wished, both Saras and Kumud to be more forthcoming with her than they were showed...but there is lot more to tell on her too- through Kumud...of course, not to be expected here much though.
