Hmm.. Mandy, first I would like to commend you for such an interesting perspective. It is clear you've put a lot of thought into this before posting, and you've conveyed your thoughts well.

I think, to answer your question, I would like to look at the male leads in a lot of SLB's works. Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan were phenomenal as Devdas and Ethan Mascarenhas... and I'd like to point out that they're both married. But to bring light upon SLB's female leads specifically, I would like to give you an example of a female lead. The role of Sofia in Guzaarish was given to a woman who is married into one of the biggest, most influential and powerful fraternity families of Bollywood: Mrs. Aishwarya Bachchan. I think the point I'm trying to make here is that I don't think Sanjay Leela Bhansali really cares about the relationship status of his female leads. If he sees a quality in them which suits the roles of the characters he creates, he casts them irregardless. I believe that Jennifer's case is no less typical. SLB has no doubt studied the volume Saraswatichandra inside and out. He has to have, because he himself has contributed tremendously to this television portrayal of Kumud. And Jennifer no doubt seems to fit his requirements. So yes, I think she's very suiting to play Kumud!

Yes, there have been speculations of the relation between Jennifer and Gautam. But, I think that it's important to note that actors, especially small screen ones, are largely credited for their looks (everyone loves hot leads!) and their talent. There have been many cases in even Bollywood where the two leads were literally perfect, such as Kajol and Aamir Khan, but their off-screen relationship was slightly distanced. This stuff even happens in Hollywood all the time, too, so the matter of our two lovely leads hasn't ever been a big deal for me. That's why I want to emphasize the importance of professionalism. No doubt Gautam and Jennifer are doing that right 👍🏼

Thanks so much again for sharing your opinions and for such a thought provoking post, Mandy! 😊

thanks a lot veera for taking time to reply my post, i am quite impressed by ur mature approach and also getting my point of what i am trying to say, some called my approach as narrow minded, but i was trying to convey something else, its to do with the comfort level between the leads, maybe being married is an hindrance, but u gave such an excellent and intelligent answer which made me think at a different angle, i really hope that this show rocks and their chemistry is well executed, so that we can connect and feel their love, which is the genre of this show..an epic love story!

You watch and feel a certain way..come to forum and read 2 more opinions stating the same thing and your doubts are confirmed.. Mandy , I and many others have also watched their offscreen interviews..I really dont get whats the big deal? This is a very huge project so there's added responsibility and Gautam and Jenny being the leads are in each and every frame. It takes a toll on them physically and emotionally to extract so much out of themselves everyday..16-18 hours at a stretch..after all that if they don't appear extra chirpy in their interviews , is that really such a big deal..?

hahaha vaishali that is true, well trying to get over that, but it is to do with today's and yesterday's episode, jo meri rooh tak nahin pahuncha, except for that rain scene, which was executed very well!

i love her individual scenes, she is very normal and comfortable with all the other actors, when it comes to romantic scenes i am not seeing that level of intimacy and being natural, it looks more forced upon, especially in today's and yesterday's episode.

She's a actor at the end of the day. It's her job- SLB chose her cause of her talent, not cause of the fact she's married and it would be better for the character of Kumud, as the story will show eventually.

And DUDE, do you really think the chemistry is off :| Like...are you serious?!?! I see nothing but passionate and sensual chemistry between Saras and Kumud when I watch the episodes...Both characters have such a pure, soulful, and innocent love and the actors are bringing the right chemistry on screen. I've seen so many love stories and dramas in my life, but the type of love they are showing between Saras and Kumud- is something I've been wanting to see for a long time on my screen. It's magic. Let's just please keep the fact she's married out of this, she's a professional actor. She knows her job.

Many TV actors/ actresses are married and working and their chemistry turns out the way it should. Jennifer is not the first married woman. This is her job and this show a HUGE project, she being a professional can never play with that, she knew what she was signing up for her and is doing FULL justice to it. I see nothing but perfect chemistry on screen whenever I see both Saras and Kumud in one frame.
