hi everyone!

i was thinking if i should make this post, but i decided to go ahead with it as there was some confusion on my mind! today when i was watching this show with my mother, (she loves the show!) she started inquiring about jennifer,is she married or single? she is so beautiful and a great actress! i told her that she is married to a very handsome man!..my mom is very conservative, she still believes in old values..she was like how can they do such intimate scenes like hugging someone..i was thinking in my mind, mom pl do not go there, poor girl already feels little uncomfortable with her co star off screen!

now that made me think, it might be difficult for her to keep balance between her professional life and domestic where she has her own pressures! which led me thinking that why did slb choose a married woman to play love interest of such an epic love story, whereas in real life she is madly in love with her husband! and its hard to connect her romantically with Gautam/saras!

slb did not choose kareena kapoor for another love story that he is making with ranveer and dipika, just because she is married! both ranveer and dipika had to attend workshops to be comfortable with each other so that they can give their best on screen together! for slb having that comfort zone is important! now coming to the leads of SC, they act well on screen, but something is missing in their romantic scenes, we as audiences cannot connect!

now my question is, is it because jennifer is married, is it because their chemistry is cold off screen, or what it is! is jennifer the rt choice after all, makes me wonder!

pl note that this is not a bashing post against jennifer..she is drop dead gorgeous, great actress, and a devoted wife..i am here just discussing about the selection of a married woman for such an epic love story.

An actor has to be ready for these kind of scenes. They take into consideration all these factors before entering into the glamour industry.

And, even Karan is doing intimate scenes in his show Qubool hai I guess...

i agree, they both still live in india, maybe its ok for a man to do, but a woman is more under pressure!

If married men can be choices for leads roles in love stories- KSG, Barun Sobti, Gurmeet Choudhury, Ram Kapoor to name a few, why can't a married woman be the right choice? Just wondering.. ! Jennifer is not the right choice ..Jennifer is the only choice for the role of Kumud Sundari in my opinion. I can't imagine anyone else have the kind of beauty, spunk, aura, grace and dignity that is required for the role of Kumud Sundari.. The scene where Saras and Kumud hug had me in tears of happiness..it was that briliantly performed.. there was no awkwardness whatsoever in the hug.. it was close and it was one of the longest hug I have seen on TV.. Jennifer's expression in particular were outstanding.. Specially the moment where she closes her eyes and firms her grip on his back was so well done..Her expressions reflecting the initial nervousness of hugging a man for the first time and then changing to the extreme pleasure and happiness of having the man she loves so close to her was BEAUTIFUL.

Hmm.. Mandy, first I would like to commend you for such an interesting perspective. It is clear you've put a lot of thought into this before posting, and you've conveyed your thoughts well.
I think, to answer your question, I would like to look at the male leads in a lot of SLB's works. Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan were phenomenal as Devdas and Ethan Mascarenhas... and I'd like to point out that they're both married. But to bring light upon SLB's female leads specifically, I would like to give you an example of a female lead. The role of Sofia in Guzaarish was given to a woman who is married into one of the biggest, most influential and powerful fraternity families of Bollywood: Mrs. Aishwarya Bachchan. I think the point I'm trying to make here is that I don't think Sanjay Leela Bhansali really cares about the relationship status of his female leads. If he sees a quality in them which suits the roles of the characters he creates, he casts them irregardless. I believe that Jennifer's case is no less typical. SLB has no doubt studied the volume Saraswatichandra inside and out. He has to have, because he himself has contributed tremendously to this television portrayal of Kumud. And Jennifer no doubt seems to fit his requirements. So yes, I think she's very suiting to play Kumud!

Yes, there have been speculations of the relation between Jennifer and Gautam. But, I think that it's important to note that actors, especially small screen ones, are largely credited for their looks (everyone loves hot leads!) and their talent. There have been many cases in even Bollywood where the two leads were literally perfect, such as Kajol and Aamir Khan, but their off-screen relationship was slightly distanced. This stuff even happens in Hollywood all the time, too, so the matter of our two lovely leads hasn't ever been a big deal for me. That's why I want to emphasize the importance of professionalism. No doubt Gautam and Jennifer are doing that right 👍🏼

Thanks so much again for sharing your opinions and for such a thought provoking post, Mandy! 😊

i agree, she is doing great as kumud, but when it comes to romantic scenes i do not seem to connect, especially in the recent episodes!
