I found this old article from 2007 (just before Bidaai was launched), provided by STAR UK just to clarify the central character of Bidaai...I think it is very relevant as it is provided by Star only...
STAR Plus to launch 'Sapna Babul Ka....Bidaai'
Oct 02, 2007 07:20 PM

STAR Plus will be consolidating its weekday evening line-up of shows with a new serial in November.

The soap titled 'Sapna Babul Ka...Bidaai' will launch on STAR Plus UK on Monday 12th November.

'Bidaai' is a show of an orphan girl 'Sadhna' and her life's struggle with her biggest asset, that is her own 'beauty' which becomes her biggest curse.

Sadhna, an extremely fair and beautiful girl is in complete contrast with her cousin sister Ragini, who is dark and unattractive. However the two sisters share a great camaraderie of love and bonding despite the differences in their physical attributes. Brought up by her Mama(Prakash Chand) and Mami (Kaushalya) in the beautiful city of Agra, Sadhna a humble and simple person, is left upon the mercy of her relatives after an early death of her mother.

Her father (Kishan Chand) works in America with the only hope to someday fulfill his wife's dream of seeing their daughter's 'Bidaai'. But all this is far from simple, as Sadhna's mami has always hated her for her beauty and simplicity, which becomes the ground to emotional upheavals in the family.

Meddled with complexities, Sadhna's life is a portrayal of the Indian society's two-faced attitude towards a woman's beauty which on one hand is her greatest asset and on the other, her greatest curse.

With its strong cast line-up 'Bidaai' will witness coming together of the veterans actors ranging from -Alok Nath (mama), Vibha Chabbir (mami) and Mahesh Thakur (Father), while Parul Chauhan (Ragini) and Sarah Khan (playing the lead character of Sadhna) are the fresh young faces on the show.

Mods can close if they find it irrelevant. I just wanted all people to read this, even if they do not agree or want to say this is an old article...

Bani ... Bani... Bani .... thanks yaaar.... you cleared a great great confusion.

I think now its clear and evidant.

Why do you say mods should close it?....This is the most relevant topic in the Bidaai forum till date. Bidaai is a show on Star Plus ... and its the clarification of Star Plus about the show. To understand the show and the story, this is a must read for everyone.

I recomment everyone to read this closely ... and then give your thanks to Bani ... and Star Plus ... to clarify such an important issue.

Now the story is much more simpler.
I came her as a neutral viewer.... but I always felt that Sadhna was central in everything that happened!

Also, I remember the Bidaai Book which Mamaji wrote...and the book was all about Sadhna....even the cover of the Book was all about Sadhna. And that was around the mystery track.

Thank you Bani once again.

Mods.... please keep this wonderful, explanatory, educating and enlightening topic alive.

Awesome topic indeed! Not to burst anyones bubble- but I can provide 1423523523421 articles by Star Plus itself and maybe even the maker of Bidaai himsef- Rajan Shahi where he has maintained that Bidaai is a show about 2 sisters with both of them being leads. Just that I have better things to do than provide links to such articles.

Anyways, I think it is quite childish to even indulge in these sort of arguments and does nothing but hamper the decor and peace of the forum ( not that it is very good to begin with). Its alright to engage in healthy discussions but to irk some fans over other fans by trying to establish who is a lead and who is not- is very very immature. I believe it is a very negative topic.I request the mods to close this topic as it does nothing but pit certain fans against others.Thank u!

PS: I'd really appreciate if people don't start quoting me and trying to tell me how wrong I am.This is just my POV, that I am entitled to! Thanks once again.

no no, I'll never say you are wrong...but please do post if it is from Star or Director's kut...this article mentions that the story is about two sisters, but the starting line is here something different...I opened this with the sole intention of getting feedbacks and more articles like this......
please do not attack me personally as I am in no way hampering the decorum of the forum...I just stated my POV, that too with an evidence..the highlighted part of your reply is a direct proof that you are attacking me personally.

I just don't get it. There are tons of topic that are not even worth discussing or not even remotely related to the show. But no one attacks those posters directly. Why now ?? Seriously, this is the limit. If there is any problem with the topic then mods can take care of it. We do have a report button....don't we ??

I am just trying to quote this article to find an answer for myself also...as per the story line people like me think Sadhna is the central character, while others do not agree...always there are heated arguments that why Sadhna is being always shown as the central character... this might help to come to a consensus or at least bring out some more options and articles to prove the most valid question ever "who is the central character of Bidaai"....this will bring out the truth...may be, I am wrong..but I'll admit if someone states to me more reliable proofs...

I'ld feel really hurt and discriminated if mods close this topic...because I stated a point which is published by Star...which clarifies the basic question of Bidaai..."who is the central character"...it is better to get a clear-cut answer than to live with an illusion....
as I have said, please take the liberty and post similar articles...I'ld love to read those, but please do so from a reliable source...
