hi katypink ( I'm sorry I dont now your name 😳). I agree with your point about mamaji and mamji not showing her the love. But if Malti acted in a way that made it evident that she saw herself as a part of the family and not against them, then in time they'd be compelled to accept her. Actions do speak louder than words, and often Malti doesnt do herself any favours in the winning 'points' department with the in-laws.

Okay, for the sake of arguments, lets assume that Malti is a very selfish woman, which i agree with, -but she has done a lot for this family even after she was put down quite regularly. Her selfishness is a character flaw, but her guts and intelligence and practicality is something this family has needed many times.

Vineet being in jail brought out her full emotions, and she was frantic to save him. She is very active, she tried everything she could think of, everything else be damned. That is a true wife, who values her husband over her own self. When Vineet tried to support that horrible Kaushi when Kaushi was trying to stop Ragini's wedding with Ranveer, Malti stopped him and saved the situation. That is being a good bhabi. She was aware that Vineet needed a job for everyone's sake so she tried to make him accept the Rajvansh offer. Similarly, Malti forced Ragini to meet Ranvir, and forced her to accept she was in love with him. She supported Ragini and Mama ji later on as well. Thats being a good daughter in law, thinking of what will impact the family as a whole.

Her problem, I think is the fact that she is treated like an outsider, or a servant, not like the daughter in law. She takes care of everything in the house, but people value Ragini more, and focus on her more. Why is it surprising that she would try to make her position stronger in her house, when she feels ignored and left out a lot, even by the sisters and her own husband? I think she is in fact, a pretty good wife and daughter in law. Im not saying shes perfect, far from it, but hell, she could be a meeti churi like Avni, right?

I think mama-mami were too involved in ragini's problem that they didn't see anything beyond that...

You're completely right! Actually I noticed this for a while but today (yesterday?)'s episode when malti asked about what ragini got as a gift, nani got mad at her. Imagine that malti's relatives came 2 stay and brought gifts and ragini asked what malti got- mami would have laughed.
Or imagine in rajvansh parivaar sadhna or alekh ask ragini what she got from inderjeet(imagine the gift was wrapped) we as an audience would have laughed and vasu and indrajeet would have laughed at their "innocence". But with malti its "NO malti how dare u ask such a thing"
Dont get me wrong I AM NOT COMPARING Sadhna and ragini to malti im just using them as an example i love both of them- just it should be obvious to ragini that "vinu ki bahu" is not treated with respect.

it is very interesting discussion and i agree with all of you who think that malti is not treated as kaushi wants ragini to be treated in rajvanch pareewar...
how can kaushi has so high expectations from vasu when she herself not treat malti as her own daughter.
kaushi is just too selfish..:@

no matter what has happened in the sharma family.. malti has always been there for them when she was needed.. yea, she would vent to her hubby if she disagreed with some decision.. but i think i would do the same.. lol.. malti's character is the most realistic one to real life from all the other characters i think.. she has the most natural reactions to situations... i think we laugh at her because we know how true it is! and we can relate to some extent.. gotta keep in mind, that she is from a lower middle class mentality... i think shes doing an excellent job! go malti bhabi!

Allright guys, lets' not forget how Malti was till recently...For all the big problems in the house, Vinu going to jail, and Sadi had to get married to unstable Aalekh(thought it is so cute noww), Ragini's wedding was broken due to the 10 lakh chakkar, Vinu working at Rajvansh, and Ragini not letting him tell the family....Vasu insulting Sharma's...Malti getting together with Avni, and plotting against her own Sharma family...Malti scheming against Kaushi to get back Vinu's salary....and asking Ragini to quit dance school.....so many things have happened that it is obvious Sharma's are little skeptical about Malti....plus I think by calling, "Vinu ki bahu", Rajan shahi might be trying to show middle class background(I am not sure of this), but I don't think they say that out of hostility.....

Malti has never showed "Apnaman" untill recently, and now when she is showing, both Kaushi and Mama ji are smiling.....I don't think it would have been realistic if they jump the wagon, and be all like beti beti to Malti.....

Well Naina , you can call me katy if you like . And Bini, both of you are right. Malti was the source of all the troubles in the Sharma parivar to be exact. If you look back you will find none of the Sharma-parivar troubles would have happened if Malti hadn't been behind each and every one of them.
But what I would like to stress is that it is very clear now that Malti is not a heartless or evil creature. Indeed she made these troubles because she wanted to get back at her in-laws. She never got the love and affection from her in-laws that makes a newly married girl feel wanted in her sasural. And she must have resented that at the back of her mind. Also, till now mamaji or mamiji don't know that Malti is the culprit behind most of those troubles. So you cannot say that her in-laws did not like her because of her misdeeds. And then again the 'apnapan" that Malti is showing nowadays has come from her side. She has taken a while to feel her in-laws to be her own and had she been shown a bit of "apnapan" from them , I am sure she would have become good a lot faster.
Also, it might be the norm in small cities/towns/villages in U.P to call your daughter-in-law as malti is called (vinu ki bahu) but that doesn't necessarily make it the right thing to do.
