I think it is v.unfair to malti that mamiji expects ragini to be so well taken care of and have many ppl looking out 4 her, but then she calls malti (who im sure is also someone's daughter) "Vinu ki Bahu". How wud she like it if ambika started calling ragini "Ranvir ki Bahu".

I like malti, ragini and mamiji's characters v.much but i sometimes feel that malti is treated more like a maid who has been in their family 4 very long, than a part of the family.

OH MY GOD I SO agree with you, I cannot express it! I have to admit, until you said this I didnt see it but you are absolutely right! Why didnt I see the parallels between the way Malti is treated (get me tea, serve the food, prepare the house for guests, dont eat if no one else eats!) with the way you'd treat an old servant !

Once again the hypocrisy of Mama-Mami and Nani come to the front! I Excellent observation! Also, I would add, if Ragini has Ranvir as a joru ka gulam, as others have observed, we are all supposed to completely love it, but Malti controls Vineet too, but thats apparently evil-can you imagine Ranvir ever taking anyone's side, even his mothers, over Ragini now?

Now, when Vineet agrees with Malti, right or wrong, hes always told how bad he is, and made to feel guilty. I admit, Malti has grey shades, but still hes her husband for god's sake, he kind of should support his wife! But Im sure when we will see Ranvir defend Ragini and take her side in the future, it will be seen as heroic.

Mama & mamiji character - both are selfish.. they love only their daughter, look happiness only for her.. .. mamaji always says sadhana is his daughter.. if that is the case, yesterday's episode, he says, he don't eat or drink from daughter's house?? so before it was sadhana, whom he call daughter, then he used to eat and drink.. now it is his own daughter his true colour came out..

I totally agree! basically, Mama-Mami dont realise that even Malti had a bidaai, even her parents would have wanted a doting husband and parents for her who would treat her as their own.. but so far, whenever Malti mentioned her desires its almost always shot down which is really unfair..i think vasu should do something to teach mamiji a lesson on motherhood... because vasu has a ego.. shes still an excellent mother..infact i feel shes a mother who would do anything for her children... kaushi on the other hand, is very selfish and only cares about ragini.. she doesnt even seem to care enough for vineet as she does for ragini..

OMG yeah! The whole 'Vinu ki bahu' crap really bothers me too! Who talks like that anymore? Malti has her own identity....and to only recognize her as someone's wife is totally degrading to women! You don't hear Vasu or anyone else in the Rajvaansh family refer to Sadi as 'Alekh ki bahu' or Ragi as "Ranvir ki bahu'.....

ohh my god!! its so truee...u know i always wanted to say something abt this but i kept quiet coz alot of people here get very offended if u express opinions against the bidaii characters....well getting back to the topic...i really feel that mamaji & mamijii are just over doing the whole ragini bidaii & beti parayi thing....i mean their daughter is not the only one who is leaving her maternal home to go to the husband's house...they are so concerened that they are over looking sadhana & her problems too....i mean sadhana is married to alekhjii & no doubt he is a good man but who knows if she will ever get all the happinesses of a married women.....yet they all over look that & keep harping abt ragini...so selfish!!!

YEAH YOU ALL ARE RIGHT. I FOUND MAMAJI NOT EATING NOW WHEN RAGANI GOT MARRIED BUT THEY USED TO EAT AND DRINK ALL THE TIME BEFORE TOO. SO I THINK THERE IS NOT MUCH DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MAMAJI AND MAMIJI.

So true! This is the reflection of the Sharma parivar aka our society and the double standards they/we maintain towards their/our own daughter vs our daughter-in-law.
Also towards an adopted daughter (here in this case Sadhana) and own daughter.
Of course, both mamaji and mamiji do not love Sadhana as much as they love Ragini. And though mamaji tries at least for a semblance of justice and equality between both the sisters, mamiji has no such compunctions at all .

this is fascinating discussion... let me add another dimension:

lots has been said about the inferior treatment that Malti seems to get.

Now we know that Malti is often scheming on getting her own way i.e. remember all that drama when she pretended that she was soooo sick (pretend cry with an onion hidden in her sari) and yet had sooo much work to do and then when so vinu would sympathise with her and go against his mother...

obviously if you are pitting one member of the family against another, then you havent accepted them as your own. You'd never want to intentionally cause pain to those you love, those who are supposed to be your family.

So....bearing all this in mind... what's your opinion of Malti and her situation now?

You are absolutely right dear from your point of view. Malti was never an overtly noble-hearted girl and we understand that she never felt the Sharma parivar as her own. It might be because of her narrow-mindedness. But I am 100% sure that it is also because mamiji and mamaji never showed or felt for her the love that could have made Malti think of them as her own.
