It seems Rakesh Bapat has learnt his lesson the hard way. After re-trying his luck on the big screen with Jai Santoshi Maa, which failed to create an impact at the box-office, the actor has decided to return to television. Ab bas! Rakesh Bapat
Rakesh had quit Saat Phere to give his career in films a second chance after Tum Bin. Says Rakesh, "I decided to do some work on television. But I wanted to work on my own terms and conditions. Saat Phere was just the right project for me."
A hit show, popularity and money television gave Rakesh everything he desired. But he gave it all up for the silver screen. "I thought that Jai Santoshi Maa would change the scenario but unfortunately nothing happened as expected. My decision to return on the small screen has nothing to do with the debacle of Jai Santoshi Maa. Except for Don, none of the remakes of the old hit films have done well," he explains.
The good Samaritan Neil in Saat Phere is all set to make his appearance in the show next week. Revealing more about his character, Rakesh informs, "The character has undergone a drastic change in the show. Neil will be seen as a negative character who will try to bring about a rift between Saloni and Nahar."
This is the first time that Rakesh will don a negative avatar. Is he nervous? "I don't know?" he shrugs. "But I'm anxious to the get the feedbacks soon."
So has he bid good bye to films? "I am getting film offers, but I'd rather do a good TV show than a bad film," says Rakesh. Although he will be doing Saat Phere, the actor says that he isn't looking for more work on TV. "At the moment I'm not interested in any other TV show. I can't see myself getting into the monotonous saas-bahu trap."
