rasathi en usuru ennuthilla from Thiruda Thiruda

Yes, Sindhu bairavi songs are classics 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 But if you can notice, you can see the touch of folk music in it and maybe more because it was needed for the script 🥰

In my opinion,ARR is not comparabale wrt music quality with the legendary MDS like Roshan,Madan Mohan etc...but he is like a modern day RD Burman.....RDB is famous coz he changed the style of bollywood music totally....and his songs are loved by every generation......Similarly ARR turned film music around with a totally new style ...I think he deserves his legendary status for this thing alone.

He has a distinct style of his own which most MDs of today lack......IR has given out some very good songs and his songs are more hummable since they depend less on back ground music..the melody lies in the song alone....ARR is a technobrat and his songs hv li'l appeal without the garnishings 😉..........IR's major problem was that he took on too much work, thereby (unavoidably) getting boringly repetitive...ARR is reaching that stage nowOuch🙂
I personally like ARR 's songs more than IR 's songs.......IR's songs were not totally unique/distinct in comparison with the songs coming out in Hindi during the same period............ARR songs(from Roja, pudiya mugam, kadalan, kandukondein and many more ) became popular in tamil all over India...He was the first(and till now only)MD in India to transcend the language barrier......Till then Hindi songs were popular in south, but no south Indian song had ever become popular all over India in its original version.....Ppl enjoyed his songs without understanding the language.....I think that is a tremendous achievement ...🙂

i disagree wid u rocknroll. IL's music 4 geetanjali, sirivennela, abhinandana ( which even 2day a person frm 16 to 60 know although it came 20 yrs back) sitakokachilaka r masterpeices. actually al his songs r master pieces but he makes music so easy 4 the masses tht even a layman can hum them. he is the only indian to conduct a symphony hence called maestro. un4fortunately 4 IL in those days he was busy wid tamil, telugu, kannada n malyalam n had no time 4 hindi. in the 80's n 90's all the top heroes in south wanted him.

ARR is lucky compared 2 IL bcoz most of his songs were dubbed 2 hindi like roja, kadalan, kadhal desam, thiruda tiruda, bombay, alai payudhey, gentleman etc. but back then the movies IL composed were not dubbed 2 hindi. whn sadma song was recorded suresh wadkar himself said half the music iondustry was present 2 juzz c the recording.

ARR's Iruvar(tamil film) has lot of influence of IR music...

Let me now put down a link of IR composing a song with just 3 notes and Shreya Ghosal singing the song!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwGeHvOCxfQ

also IR has composed song with just arohanam... All those who understand Tamil, will understand this link better... But for those who dont understand, its IR composing a song with just 3 notes Sa Ri Ga 🙂

Do listen and enjoy!!!

Rahman's father died when he was 9 yrs old. Rahman carved a niche for himself in the music world by his sheer genius. He has his own style, charisma, uniqueness. He is a self made man with so many best selling records to his credit. His speciality lies in combining eastern and western music, experimenting with combinations of instruments which has not been heard before. Some people absolutely love his kinda music, other don't care. For his fans he is a living legend.

You all will be surprised this animosity between ARR and IR's fan runs so deep that many IR fans took more than 10 years to accept that ARR has substance still the old timers who have grown listening to IR will never agree for any thing less than him.

One thing which I am cross about is that in many of ARR's songs lyrics took back seat.

He deserves the hype. ARR is one of the few composers to have brought indian music worldwide recognition. He deserves all this fame and much more in my opinion.

Actually a lot of international work of Ilaya Raja is unknown to the current generation because those days our media was not that powerful.
IR sir is the First Asian to compose Symphony (Symphony No. 1) with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) of London.
