I remember way back during the times when Saregama host was Sonu Nigam, Sonu had told this to a contestant.. that ending the lines is very important in singing..it gives a fine finishing to the lines..he had beautifully explained it, its still fresh on my mind..

Yes, Raja's endings are abrupt most of the times; being a classical singer I know it is required sometimes especially when u r singing an alaap n want to improvise it on the spot but in normal bollywood songs it is required to give a good finishing touch to each line..If u've heard his 'Tu hi re' and 'Awarapan', u'll realise this very well that the finishing required is lacking..But if u listen to any Amanat's song, his finishing is perfect..Even aneek is good at that..n to some extent Sumedha also..That is why these contestants hv a great potential to be playback singers..u must hv heard both ID and Bappi da telling Amanat and Aneek again and again the same thg(that they hv artistic touch, they hv what it takes to become playback singer)..This is the most important reason behind their saying so..

Raja indeed made many mistakes but he did nt lose the impact and emotions of the songs......

the lyrics was messed up..... the continuity of the song was not there and few notes were out....... i was surprised to see a 10 for him actually 😕

Thanks Lalbullet.
Herman_4u, he didn't make any mistakes as such in 'Teri Diwani'. It is quite a difficult song and Raja did justice to the same..It happens many a times even with good singers in live performances, when u r singing a song with lot of variations and u try to modify the song on the spot, u sometimes tend to miss one or two notes(its not note exactly, it is called shruti)..It is less than 1/2 a note of variation from the exact sur. The Raga on which the song is based certainly changes a bit, it may sometimes go unnoticed by lot of people and it doesn't really make a big difference when on the whole, u've sung the song nicely..That's why he got 10..Bcuz even if u consider his mistakes, he sang it in such a way that he deserved 10.

the bottom line is he sang too good to get anything less than ten...
taking into consideration ...how difficult that song was ... a few mistakes stand no where...
more so just realize that the song is still lingering on our minds ....thats the only reason we are still talkin abt it...
see the aura this man has!!!

Well if somebody feels that there were many mistakes then he should be able to point out them as well so that it can be discussed😉.Just repeating what HR said is kind of lame...
