well emon was not bad either.. his voice is also good but he didnt experiment and just stuck to the original version

i dont see anything wrong with that.😃 in my opinion, its better to stick with the original and not have mistakes rather than experiment and have some flaws. anyways, to me both stood out. raja stood out because of the way he felt the song so much while singing so the few small mistakes could be forgiven. emon stood out because his voice is so different from kailash kher yet his rendition sounded really nice and he also sang with feel. anyways, i hate comparing these two because they are both my favourites and i am glad that they are not on the same show.😃

here amanat ...and aneek are at par with those ...of the likes of vinit or may be hemachandra.. may be even better at times... but ..
I am a big fan of amanat's sur ,mussarrat's range , aneek's perfection, sumedha's tonal quality and mauli's confidence but still ...
raja is in a class of his own.... nearly every song that he has sung.. he has done something different..you wont realize them until u listen to the original songs...

1.allah ke bande- added the alaap at the start of the song..not to mention the 'off beat' rendition of toota toota...in the end..

2. kacche dhage- he sang the last few lines with so many variations and reached a classy heart touching note in the ending words 'tujhe dhonde 'ye-e-ee' nazar' ....even the original singer would have been proud of that...

3.mahiya- just listen to the alaap after the mukhda .. mindblowing.. just nusrat fateh ali khan could have done that... some ppl criticized that he sang it wrong but again he muffled some words in the end of the sargam ..which is also a style..

4.naina thag lenge- man .... everyone has been appreciating this song since day one.. so no elaborations needed i feel.. but still i would say that the low note rendition of the words 'naina bawara-naina bawara' is so tough ..man just try it urself... Also the real sixer was after the once more call .. when he sung it again ... great variations.

5.piya re -piya re- before forgetting the lyrics ...the sargam part was too good to be forgotten.

6. meri zindagi ek pyaas- just recall it and it will start haunting u ..the pain in his voice.. mind blowing.

7.afoo khuda- perhaps the most underrated song that he has sung.. but just listen to the original song sung by mohd. rafi .. from the movie jab jab phool khile ...well i'd say that he sung it at par with the original... if not better.

8.awarapan banjarapan- the scope of modifying the song is almost nil .. as it has many straight notes and is very simple and serene.. but still he did justice to this song..keeping it short and sweet without any mistakes... the song's beauty lies in its uncomplicated nature.

9.tare gin gin, chak de phatte, saara zamana- he kept his energy level very high althroughout these songs...(keeping aside the lyrics thing)

10. tu hi re- this song required immense precision as it is sung by hariharan..and raja's voice has a pretty different texture ...but he sang it well... just listen to those notes .. in the words.. tere 'bina-a-a-a' main kaise jiyun .. in the end .. it feels like chords floating in the whole room.

9.rut aa gai re rut cha gai re.. was perhaps a song where he could have done better . Though he sang well enough ...but still he pretty much limited himself as far as experimenting is concerned...i mean he should have taken the alaap in the end..

10. last but not the least - teri deewani -
a. the prestart he gave to the main alaap with a short alaap was not in the original..
b. the whole alaap in the beginning ..just listen to the last words of the lines..they were all different.
c.in the middle of he antra he took another short alaap .. which was mindblowing..
d.the off beat rendition of the mukhda again in the end.. was awesome..

GUYS ...FOR ME A GR88 SINGER IS ONE WHO STANDS OUT IN THE CROWD...JUST TELL ME HOW MANY SONGS SUNG BY OTHER SINGERS ARE STILL HAUNTING U ...?
MAY BE 1 ,2 ..OR THREE EACH.. LIKE AMANATS - YE HAUSLA ,KADIYA MIL SAWAN ..OR MAY BE MUSARRATS SAWARE...ETC .. BUT EVERYTHING THIS MAN SINGS ...LINGERS ON U...HE HAS THAT AURA SORROUNDING HIM...
ITS RIGHTLY SAID THAT, HE HAS THAT DIVINE QUALITY IN HIS VOICE.I AM A DOCTOR.... HAVE AN EXAM TO TAKE IN 15 DAYS WHICH WILL DECIDE MY CAREER..BUT STILL JUST CANT STOP MYSELF FROM CRAVING TO SEE THE EPISODE ON FRIDAYS....AND THATS SINCE RAJA HAS COME INTO THE COMPETITION.
I KNOW THAT PPL FROM BIKANER ARE A FACTOR IN HIM GETTING MANY VOTES .. BUT WHEN U DESERVE IT ..ITS NOT AN ISSUE.
RAJA U ROCK...

anyhow they gave 10 because they knew ki .. open jhoot bolne mein problem ho sakti hai ...

I do not agree with you about public being influenced by comments by the judges. Is that why Amanat was in Danger Zone?

Public voting is based in my opinion mainly on the followings

1) selection of song - song should be popular and "hummable" by ordinary Joe (yours truely included)

2)singer's attitude - should not come off as an arrogant or have couldn't care less kind of persona

3)location - where the singer hails from

4)appearance - how the contestant looks - is she/he cute?

i am not saying that the above criteria is right or wrong but in my opinion the combination is responsible for many worthy/unworthy selections/rejections in the reality shows.(not even for 1 second i consider these so called talent shows as anything more than reality shows to generate money/ratings for networks and producers)

well ur points are not wrong...
public voting does depend on the above...
but .. just remember the no of fans HR has.. most of these ppl are .. .. the common men..
also ive seen...how ppl are mad abt himesh..some even worship him .. .. and these guys .. just do wat he says... so uski baatein are influential .. .to a certain extent..

skipping a beat is a totally different thing.. then u tend to loose track ...
wat he did was in simple terms ... ADJUSTING THE TIME SPACING Of THE WORDS ..... within the same beat...
just listen to the song again .. that line ...in the end after the mukhda.... tune kya kar dala ... 'MARGAIMAINMITGAIMAIN' is where ppl are saying that he missed a beat.... but thats not a missed beat .. thats deliberate classy work.
just have another listen ... and post ur comments... ill wait for it

First of all, here's another Raja fan..hats off to his singing!!👏👏 Along with his strong command on sur and taal and a solid classical base, what I like about him is he sings with utmost sincerety and straight from his heart, and makes any song that he sings his own, makes some variations in every song, and it comes out so naturally that it feels like a Raja song..thats what makes him stand out from the rest of them, bcos he is different in a classy way! Also, I love all his song selections so far!

Great analysis of all of Raja's songs, lalbullet!👏 Thoroughly enjoyed reading it, and also ur discussion with shehzaadi..I heard his rendition of "Teri deewani" a number of times concentrating on the taal, and having a little background in music myself, I do have to say that I agree with lalbullet..in the end of the song with the "lutgayimaimitgayimai" he adjusted the words within the beats in a different way deliberately knowing well where he was gonna catch up with the beat..there's no question of it being a mistake..yes I do agree that he got the lyrics in the mukhda wrong, instead of mar gayi he said lut gayi..not a big deal..highly overshadowed by his excellent rendition of the song!

I don't know if he is going to be a winner in this "reality show contest", but I will be happy and content if he is!

This has all started with HR's remark...Some analysis of his comment is also required...This is what he said....
mistakes the are bohot jyaada the.lekin agar recording mein hoti to fantastic hoti( mistakes wud hv sounded fantastic??? or did he mean changes wud hv sounded better than the original)u deserve 10!! U were fantastic!( a performance full of mistakes can not be fantastic)...only HR can explain what did he mean.

Even a layman can c it was not full of mistakes!!!I had to hear it again n again to find mistakes ..there may b a mistake or two but no way it was full of mistakes..

he has made this song so beautiful that I don't think i'll hear the original track again. If Kailash Kher were to hear this ,he wud be proud of him.

Just in the begining in the line 'ba bal jaon apni pya koo' mein 'ko' itni khoobsorti se kaha ki kya kahoon 😛

Let us not dissect Raja's singing too much. It is known that he tries to introduce his own work wherever possible , sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. It was evident by looking at his expression that he picked up at least one of the line little late(probably he forgot the line) and this had an effect on his mind.
