Zubeen Garg’s mortal remains to return to India after the post mortem in Singapore; Assam CM shares update
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared now an update about the late singer Zubeen Garg's mortal remains. According to Sarma, Zubeen's post-mortem was conducted in Singapore, after which his "mortal remains will be handed over to Indian authorities."

Renowned Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, celebrated for hits like Ya Ali from the 2006 film Gangster, tragically passed away on Friday after a scuba diving accident in Singapore. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared now an update about the late singer Zubeen Garg's mortal remains. According to Sarma, Zubeen's post-mortem was conducted in Singapore, after which his "mortal remains will be handed over to Indian authorities." Following this, his mortal remains will be kept at Sarusajai, Guwahati, for fans "to pay their last tributes". The post-mortem has been completed, and arrangements are being made to bring Garg's body back to Guwahati, likely by evening, where it will be kept for public tribute before the family decides on the final rites.
"Singaporean authorities have confirmed that a post-mortem of our beloved Zubeen Garg will be conducted. We expect this to conclude by 2 PM SGT. Thereafter, his mortal remains will be handed over to Indian authorities and we shall begin the process of bringing him home. Shall keep all of you posted," Assam Chief Minister wrote.
In another post on X, Biswa wrote, "I am in constant touch with the High Commissioner of India HE Dr Shilpak Ambule. We are coordinating to ensure beloved Zubeen's mortal remains return to Assam at the earliest. As soon as the process is firmed up, I will share an update. @HCI Singapore."

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma paid tribute, stating that Garg's voice had an unmatched ability to energize people, and his music spoke directly to their minds and souls. Other notable figures, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi, Pritam, Papon, Armaan Malik, and Vishal Dadlani, have also expressed their condolences.
