What happens when you wake up one morning and realise that you look like a celebrated pin-up star ? This is the story of such man

The luck of the draw can indeed be strange. Few know it better than these two men: one, who looks, acts and sings like the current national pin-up Himesh Reshammiya, and the other who is a dead ringer for gangster DK Rao.

In a city where crime and entertainment are often the two most important co-ordinates, these men are now discovering the pleasure and pain that are attendant with celebrity.

32-year-old Raja Golder who has been struggling in Mumbai since 1993, trying to get a toehold as a singer in Bollywood hit jackpot when one day he walked out of his house in Mira Road unshaved and wearing a peak-cap. "My friends began to call out, 'Himesh aaya, Himesh aaya'."

Raja, who is a trained singer and has done numerous shows with his troupe Music Plus singing Mohammad Rafi songs, perceived this as an omen. He got himself a new wardrobe, down to the sundry rings that Reshammiya favours, invested in several caps, changed his style of singing and rechristened himself as Rimesh. "The R is from my name Raja," he says proudly.

The new look also transformed his life and career. He landed his first major solo show scheduled for August 15 at Bhaidas Hall, Vile Parle. "It'll be called Suroor and I'll only be performing Himesh's songs," says Raja who spends most days practising the superstar's uniquely nasal twang. To go out and find people staring at him or following him is another enthralling experience.

"My wife was against this in the beginning but once when we went out and she saw the recognition I got, she changed her mind," he says.

Actually prior to his this new look when he was clean shaven and with suit he did look handsome. Had baby face with nicely combed hair. Boy next door look but now he looks hip and cool 😃

This is scary - with Himesh stuck indoors for 23 hours in a day, Rimesh will easily be roaming around as him, and no one will be suspicious 😲 😲

Question. Has there even been a duplicate for a singer/musician before? I know we've had lots of duplicates for movie stars.
