One of the past winners was Sudeshna (Ganguli....?). I did go to one of her concerts in Calcutta with Kumar Shaanu.
I think she is still singing some remix albums and I did come across a couple of her albums, though I could not find any other information on the web.

nachiketar...hothat abar
Sudeshna Ganguli

This one's from Nachiketa again, but the songs are sung by Sudeshna Ganguli. The eight songs are written and scored by Nachiketa. Sudeshna is good so far as her voice is concerned. Nachiketa accompanies her in some songs with a line here and a hum there. The opening song, Jodi hothat abar, has a couple of lines snatched from Laxmikant-Pyarelal's (Mere Humdum Mere Dost) mukhda in Chalo sajna jahaan tak ghata chale, and Nachiketa interposes with the line in its original version. Some of the songs are pretty average and the lines jar at times. Ektu dekha is light, and Dristi jhhapsa and Phera mane are two of the better ones.

She also came with an album Nijhoom Sandhyay with another singer Prasoon Mukherjee in bengali.

Hi,

I could not resist this one. I know there was a Ronkini Gupta who won one of the SRGM contests. Is this the same Ronkini Gupta or is she different. Also there was a Ronkini Gupta in II-1......Anyone has any more information?

Music of Mr.Ya Miss

Ronkini Gupta is the guest composer for the final song 'Kaanha Kaanha'. The number comes as a complete surprise in the beginning as it is a shift from the pop tracks that had come earlier but on hearing closely, one can sense that it could well have an element of humor in the movie's narrative as at places it describes the plight of being a woman. Very well written by Satchit Puranik, it has Sonu Nigam coming up with the best sung song in the entire album. A beautiful composition that makes for an extremely pleasant hearing experience!

I would also love to know what is happening to some of these great singers.. Also would want to know how the child predigies like Sanchari and Abhrokanti and doing..

I am sorry Jayaji, I could not find any information on Abhrokanti, but I think Sanchari was one of the participants in the final 48 of SRGMP C-05 but could not make it further. The link of her performance is given below.

As far as I remember the six contestants at the very first Mega Finals of SRGM were,Mohd Vakil,Mukund(?),Parthiv,Bela,Sanjivani and Sudeshna. The contest lasted several weeks and had great judges like Pt Jasraj,Jagjit Singh,Naushad,Anil Biswas,Khayaam,Raj Kumari,OP,and some others.
Vakil was the winner among males and Bela among females.
None knows anything about Mukund, but all others have their niche in stage shows if not playback singing.

I tried looking up Mukund. In one of the posts here it was mentioned that he is hosting some SRGM like show in a regional language. Though I am not sure. If anyone has any more information....???

Wow, but Ronkini Gupta in II-1 was just 20 years old. How old she must have been in SRGM, looks like she might have been one of the earlier contestants. Thus the age does not seem to match.... 😕
