There was this song in Khamoshi, Mausam ke Sargam ko sun, such a fantastic song.. another song from tat movie, yeh dil sun raha hain was also very good...

i liked songs by kk in his album pal and by euphoria as well .. ab na jaa.. excellent song..

For me, Khamoshi's music supasses all other SLB music including HDDCS, but never became as popular as it deserved to be... Great work by JL.... And yes, though 'Aaj mai upar' and 'Baahon ke darmiyaan' (a beautiful number though) were relatively more popular, 'Mausam ke sargam ko sun' and 'Yeh dil sun raha hai' were just magical....

Another great song that haunts me is 'Chup tum raho, chup hum rahe' from 'Is raat ki subah nahi' composed by MM Kreem and I think sung by Chithra...

Would like to mention 'Bheeni bheeni khushboo hai tera badan' from '1947-Earth'... Hariharan at his best, but 'Rut aa gayi re' was the one that was promoted more and hence is better known

Anol ji: Well, true its a Subash Jha's article but I had read about it by other sources as well especially when Kisna released, where he said that his songs were better done than ARR, esp coz Ghai organized the schedule to suit Rahman.. I just hated ID after that.. I mean yes, we all know that your music is good but don't compare urs with others.. I still love his music though..just dont like him..

Jaya ji: Yes, Mausam ke Sargam is my all time favourite, such a gorgeous song.. I have been trying to find it but can't find it :( !

I also loved 'Hum hain is pal yahaan' from Kisna... Unfortunately for this one, the movie was so horrible that even the music suffered the plight 😕

I totally agree with you, actually when I was going through the thread that was name that was going through my mind and I agree the music suffered becos of the movie.

Though I like "Sun lo tum chilman uthegi nahin" with also superb choreography and dance from Sushmita Sen.

Yes, we would... If we say something is exceptional and haunts us, then it transcends the boundaries of time... Some of the songs that we are discussing here like 'Mausam ke sargam ko sun' from Khamoshi is almost a 10 year old release.... Zubeidaa is also 5 years atleast, and so on.... Its sad that music of such exceptional quality does not work because it is not well marketed or because of changing tastes of people, but the tracks of say Raincoat and Water are magical and will remain magical irrespective of time

Two songs I haven't yet seen mentioned in this thread:

Khulke muskurade tu (Phir Milenge) which I find very moving.
Many of the songs from Daman.

Someone mentioned Yaadein. You know, the title song has a pretty tune, but the words make no sense to me. I understand them literally but they seem so banal that they do not work as a song. I think great lyrics make take a pretty song and move it into the 'great' category, and the Phir Milenge songs, Khulke muskurade and Khushiyon ki koshish, illustrate this difference.
