this is not music related: I have noticed that before announcing the results, whoever announces them really stalls as if he/she has all the time in the world. of course, the announcer is most likely instructed to do so from higher authorities. I don't know if it's something that's quite common in Indian contests because I have also seen this happen in Indian Idols final last year. In SRGMP (it happened in judges round also), this process of stalling killed all the humor even if the result announcer tried to add some spice of his/her own. the contestants were already stressed out and tensed during result announcement time and were in no mood for unnecesary jokes (only some contestants were able to maintain their composure - twinkle and hema comes to mind). this was 1 of the things that I found most unprofessional and annoying about the show's management.

I would like add my views to your restructuring efforts...........my perspective.

1) Complete new set of 5 Mentors - Agreed
2) String Meter to catch offkey - Agreed
3) People Votig only till SRGM recives 10 final Candidates
4) Show should be audited & govern by good firm for like Ernst &
young or Deloitte
4) Final 10 candidates should be judge by external judges - No mentors
points or no mentometer
5) No performance points to anyone - This is strictly a singing
competition not a stage drama or performance of a dancer
6) Show should be well directed, edited and no regional bias.
7) Candidates home town should not be openly disclosed to public.
8) Alternate Singing round - Very Crucial round
where 2 singers will sing the same song separately, to judge on the
fair ground.
9) 1 male - 1 female winner ( Agreed )
10) each last 5 finalist gets 2 rounds with a different mentor, to get the other angle to contre

I never quite understood the logic of having just one singer winning this SRGMP Challenge. Men and women have completely different voices. There has to be a separate category for men and women. Even in Sports there are different categories for men and women. It is downright foolish to make them compete against each other.

Debojeet has won the contest but he can only sing for male actors, not for female. Where is his female counterpart?

SRGMP has mindlessly copied American shows this time. Just hope it won't happen the next time.

Let me suggest something.....
take all the contestants from the onset in pairs and give each a coin. Say one to toss and the winning one can take the coin with him (for what I will tell). This way the finally left contestants' pair too can toss and by that time the winner so far must have collected a lot many coins and can possibly constitute the award money or contract amount😉 The janta will be saved their sms money and we can have a better singer. ( He/she will certainly be better than this one I bet)

Why is this not a sticky anymore?

Interesting topic. Initially, I thought this was a pointless discussion, but if you have sent this link on to them, maybe they might get some ideas.

Some ideas:

1. Voting should be separate for Male and Female. (I would have also voted for Nihira if this had been in place)

2. In the initial rounds there should be a ranking system based on certain fixed criteria e.g. voice quality, range, sur/taal. This should determine who goes up against who in each round. Lowest seed vs Highest seed (like in Tennis), and so on. Otherwise we lose Abhijeet to Debojit. Abhijeet should have definitely been in the top 12 (and top 3).

What do u think?

That's what I was wondering. Why is it not a sticky anymore? Since the new SRGMP has not started, this thread can still serve as a sounding board for SRGMP organisers.

This is a brilliant idea - to apply the concept of seeding as in tennis to SRGMP. Excellent. That is why forums like this help to gather such fresh ideas. By using the seeding method, the best participants will not be eliminated early in the contest. Thanks.
