In the US, I believe the students vote who is the best professor. These cocky mentors also need to listen to feedback from disciples. It will be fun to hear what a student likes in a particular mentor.

Let me introduce another angle. If mentor rotation is allowed, I would also like to see how the contestants rate their mentors. Aha more friction and more drama, isn't it? 😉

it's a great idea. I think here in the US (at least it happened when I was a student), towards the middle and end of every semester, students r allowed to evaluate their TAs and professors and at some point during the academic year, the best professor is selected as u mentioned.
similar system should exist to keep mentors in check. of course, it should be a multiple choice evaluation form(otherwise the handwriting may give away some1's identity) and hopefully the mentor won't find out the contestant who is not too happy with his/her mentoring skills. 😉
😊
In the midst of cool going SRGMP some agents flown in the show to change the flavor of the singing show to adept with trend of the youngsters of India wandering in western yells and howls. Then and there the core objective of the program started shading in the eclipse orchestra. The slow demarcation was never realized to innocent audience. The wave of 'show'-ing struggled and won on the standard SRGM format so far was admired for singing competition. The pawns were doing their injection part nicely slowely and cautiously. You witnessed comments started coming garnished with tips like "body language", "performance", "expressions", "apperence"... and what not, all action-statements. The singers got confused, whether to sing or do rock dance or show an attempt of a good belly dance to please the demand of judges/mentors? or somebody else demanding it through them? I don't think innocent public were to demand dance on singing platform! (who dare to imagine Rafi, Kishor and othes that way.) It was the norm of marketing at other side with II show. May be Zee's fear of not looking down in the race of popularity! approved the flow. So in the end of our SRGMP left no one to really deliver his/her vocal melody, but beg, beg and beg for votes, votes and votes. What will you say the winners be? and the organizers be? Where is our singing talent? Why JL and ID have to make remark to public for derespecting our heritage value of Indian music? Sorry to wacth these voters busy in their head in headphone listening to pops on their walkmen.
May GOD bless those golden days' singers....
Why to expect one more SRGMP(period), no more 'N''D''S'.. next to it SRGMP….I am totaly against public voting because it is based on popularity contest and not talent. Here is what I think it should be.
1)We keep the inital setup as it was in 2005 before the final 16 (not 32) split them in 4 Gharanas. Mentors for these Gharanas should.
1.Anu Malik 2. Nadeem Sharavan 3.A.R Rahman 4. Ismail Darbar
2)select 4 judges(No current Music Directors are allowed) from the respectable group suhc as
1. Yash Chopra 2. Subhash Ghai 3. Rakesh Roshan
3) Their seats will be 5 feet apart. Not a same table.
Their decision is final. i
We would all love to do away with public voting, but there is little possibility of getting rid of it now that the organisers have seen how it increases viewership and keeps the cash flowing. That's why I suggested only a reduction of public voting to constitute 10-15% of the final score.
But I like your idea of keeping the judges 5 ft apart from each other! That would force them to think on their own rather than whispering something to each other and getting influenced.
Nadeem Shravan? I thought he was absconding from India!
