Looking at the other broadway shows, BD was the least running one. The fact that it ran for less than year, it shows its a loss and running a show was such high expense, they could not afford to continue. Cats,Phantom of the opera,42nd Strret,Le Miserable all had housfull shows for more than 5 years.
Don't tell me they are bad we are good. When you compete with mainstream American market, you have to like that and best exampel is Crouching Tiger Hidden dragon and some other Asian movies. We are still not ready to influence in mainstream market.
Of the topic ...
I never said that we are good and they are bad. I would never compare it with Disney Productions like "Lion King" or "Beauty and the Beast", Bombay Dreams is no where near them.
In fact, your response already answers your question.
Producer of Cats : Andrew Lloyd Weber.
Producer of Phantom of the Opera : Andrew Lloyd Weber.
Producer of Bombay Dreams : Andrew Llyod Weber.
Andrew Lloyd Weber knows more about Broadway shows than anyone else. This should have started off as a Off-Broadway show (cheaper tickets) and they should have moved into Broadway show after it got popular in New York. It was a hit in London because, they know more about our culture(they better know about it after ruling us for 190 years).
Having said all that, I don't know why I am taking cudgels on behalf of ARR (die hard Illayaraja fans like me aren't supposed to do that).
