Comes late, but here are songs from Rahman'smovie in 2002 called Amrutha starring Simran and Madhavan.. it was originally a Tamil movie, but I heard the music in Telugu... This is a trademark Rahman music..but none the less, its beautiful...

http://www.musicindiaonline.com/l/27/s/movie_name.5714/

the first song E Devi Varamu's first line is so beautiful... it simply means that u are a boon from the gods.. and it goes on praisin her daughter.. an excellent movie ...

He is one of the best in (IF) not to many around. He always came up with great post. I have seen any more writing from him for a long time. I wish him well.

Rahman to sing his own tune

Quite unhappy with the many aspects one has to keep in mind to compose for films, music maestro A R Rehman now wants to sing his own tune. "I feel re stricted in a way — with too many elements you can't work freely," says Rehman. No, he isn't planning to quit film music — it's just that he is all set to float his own company that will produce music videos. "That way I'll get to do my kind of stuff. I have ideas but they are incomplete," he says.

The man who wanted to be be an electronic engineer at one stage in his life naturally has a special bend towards techno tunes and technology. He recently tied up with a leading cellphone brand to promote his new track, Pray for me brother. "The proceeds from the sales will be used for a UN anti poverty campaign," he lets on. "It's a good idea to promote the number this way. Technology is harmless till the time it doesn't curb an artist's creativity." As the lyrics suggest, it's an English track — the first one from Rehman. "My mental fixation kept me from singing in English so far," he admits.

If you thought Rehman is above competition, you're wrong. "I'm constantly engaged in a fight with myself," he says. "I strive to do better than my last score. The fight is necessary because with every good song, expectations rise," says Rehman.

So, what eggs him on, to engage himself in a fight constantly with himself ? "More than anything, I think it's the love of people that keeps me going." he tells you. New projects? he won't reveal much: "Just, wait and watch," says the maestro behind Lagaan and Rang De Basanti.
