After Chhaava and Thamma, YRF bets big on Ikkis for a high-stakes global release

Adding to the momentum, Yash Raj Films has officially stepped in to handle the film’s international distribution, giving Ikkis a major global push ahead of its Christmas release.

On December 3, Yash Raj Films confirmed that its international distribution arm will release Ikkis across overseas markets. Known for its long-standing presence and strong relationships with exhibitors worldwide, YRF’s involvement signals confidence in the film’s global appeal. This decision becomes even more crucial as the year-end window is packed with high-profile releases, making screen space overseas extremely competitive.

Industry insiders believe YRF’s experience in navigating tough release calendars could work in Ikkis’ favour, ensuring the film finds the right theatres and show timings despite heavy competition.

Maddock Films and YRF: A Growing Partnership

2025 has been a landmark year for Maddock Films and YRF, marking their first full-fledged distribution partnership. The association began with Chhaava, followed by Bhool Chuk Maaf and Thamma. Each release came with its own set of challenges, from box office clashes to last-minute date changes and unconventional release strategies.

Despite these hurdles, YRF reportedly managed to secure viable overseas releases for all three films, leaning on its goodwill and long-standing distributor relationships. Directed by Sriram Raghavan and produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, Ikkis boasts a powerful ensemble. The film stars the late Dharmendra in a special role, alongside Agastya Nanda, Simar Bhatia and Jaideep Ahlawat. Together, the cast promises a story filled with emotional weight, strong performances and historical depth.

Releasing on December 25, Ikkis arrives along with Dharma's Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri.
