The Hero Honda Sa re Ga ma is heading for a final climax. Its going to be a real musical MAHA YUDH now.

I personally do believe the final 5 contestents ( Nihira, Himani, Hemchandra,Debojit, Vinit) are all very high standard singers/performers.They are just terrific.

But I feel sad for what had happened in a prestigious competetion like this one. This is an International show watched globally and had always maintained its standard. However, it has started deteriorating.

Music composers of Reshamiya's class should not much concentrate on a singer's personnel life .He is just downgrading the show by being openly partial to only one competitor from his Gharana and using childish tactics to win vote for his favorite student.Vinit sings well but those others are also too good.

And Mr A. Shrivastava, whats about surprising so much while a contestant is getting more votes from his native state?? Would you please explain? So please do think before giving such sensitive comments. Hemachandra's father was confident about whole of South India madly votting for his son. Also, Paresh's mother in law made a comment about all Kutchi community voting for Paresh. Then why cant that guy get more number of votes from his state?? So please think a lot before giving such stupid comments. If people from a particular province supports any contestant then what is wrong in it and the system of this contest is based on public voting and public is free to vote for any one. Dont impose your conviction on any one. It is a undeniable a fact that Debojit is a very good singer from Assam and getting his due supports from people and people NE are very ardent music lover.Origin route of legend like Parveen Sultana, Salil Choudhury,Bhupen Hazarika,R.D. Barman, etc. are from NE part of this country. There are other two contestants namely, Joyeeta & Bonojotshna who came from Assam but they were eliminated in due process. What happened when Hemchandra got 40% votes from souhtern states then no one made such hue and cry. A voice from Assam can be the voice of India as much as a voice from Delhi or Mumbai or Chennai. For the past few centuries, the West has dominated the world. So their perceptions of what is 'mainstream' have come to dominate globally.

We love Ismail Darbarji most as he always gives full marks to the contestants no matter whose Gharanas they belongs to.We have even seen him praising the singers of other Gharanas so many times. While other mentors comments or remarks are not that satisfactory.Twinkle performed so well before leaving. But she was given poor marks by Reshamiya. And when he was asked the reason for that he had no specific answer.Whats this?

I've found Mr. Ismyl Darbadji as a man of clean heart, he once gave his father's 50 Rs note to Vinit when Vinit sang well which was very precious to him, he blessed Himani after taking permission from Adesh Srivastava. He was also quite a few time harsh on Debojit when he made mistakes, he gives good marks whenever someone performs well. which shows he is very transparent and he cares for talent,But never saw the similar reactions/attitudes from Himesh nor Adesh which shows that they are not looking for talents for India's Voice, they are just worried about their gharana and make fame.

In the last controvertial episode, someone even told that that was not the voice of the state that the contestant (who got max votes) belongs. She told that its India's voice.("We want a voice of India, not a voice of Assam", someone in the studio shouted.) Madam, I think you dont know that that state is also belongs to India. And HR and AS's reaction over that comment just degrades their personality. They both supported her like mad.AD told that 80% votes came from Assam.I just want to remind and correct all of them that the 80% vote came from North-East,not only from Assam, which comprises of 7 states which is 1/4 of the India's state, then why such stupid question???Just rubbish!! Those states are also belong to India Mr Reshamiya and Mr. Shrivastava!! Madam, I think you really don't know about your country and thats why u talk like anything. So Mr Reshamiya and Mr. Shrivastava, you people should first increase your knowledge and then comment.

Mr. Ganjendra Singh's (Gajji) reaction was just to watch out."I don't think the contestants would have the guts to stage a walk-out," he added. "There is definitely some conspiracy going on and I have to find out who is responsible for it.We have have a meeting about this the whole night. I was taken by surprise on the show and yelled at the contestants on-camera. Now, I am figuring out what to do."

Thanks to Ganjendra Singh for his excellent direction/production.

So It was clear that the 3 young contestents were mis-guided by someone(s) and who they could be one can easily understand.

I think, it's time now that somebody renowned in the industry should be asked to judge the final episodes and assist in selecting the best singer.

I hope my comments are not going to deaf ears and would like to see some changes in the system.

A discordant note

NEW DELHI, Jan. 21. — A reality music competition ended up generating a lot of political heat as votes from the North-east for one contestant were questioned by the audience, while rival contestants sought to know if these votes were representative of the "voice of India".
More drama was added to the show with an alleged phone call from the outlawed militant outfit, Ulfa, threatening other contestants with reprisals if they did not pull out.
In line with the current trend of music talent hunts, Zee TV's Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005 invites viewers to vote for singers of their preference in order to save them from being eliminated. On 19 January, there were four contestants (32 started off in the competition from across 10 cities in India) featuring in the final rounds of elimination.
The fiasco started when one of the contestants was voted out and the voting pattern showed that 80 per cent of the votes bagged by Debojit, the contestant from Silchar, Assam, were from the North-east. The remaining three participants declared in unison that they would pull out from the show as the ''voting was not fair''.
The episode has further fuelled an already raging debate on whether the north-eastern region is treated fairly. A student from Assam, Ms Pranamika Dutta, pursuing her bachelor's degree in music from Miranda House, Delhi University, said: "A lady in the audience questioned the votes that Debojit had bagged from Assam, and her tone was as if Assam is not a part of India." None of the three, Vineet, Hemchandra and Himani, who threatened to withdraw from the show could explain what their grudge was. "What the incident brings to light is that some people do not see the North-east as part of the country," Ms Pallavi Kalita, a student of Daulat Ram College, said. "The North-east has a lot of talent but they do not get enough exposure," she rued.
All the students from Assam based in Delhi, whom The Statesman spoke to, complained about the step-motherly treatment that has been and continues to be meted out to people from the N-E. An executive with the communications department of ZEE TV told The Statesman that a person on the board of the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005 programme received a threat call from the United Liberation Front of Asom, ''commanding'' that Debojit win the competition.
"The person who claimed to be a commander of Ulfa asked that the other competitors pull out and that has really scared them and their parents," said the executive on condition of anonymity. Mr Gajendra Singh, director and producer of the show, told The Statesman from Mumbai: "Debu is in the final three and that in itself is a tremendous achievement. The public is the best judge and there will be no change in the voting system. Hemchandra too got the maximum number of votes from his home state. Why single out Debojit? Our only focus is talent and that has been so for the past 10 years" .
Mr Singh, however, disclaimed any knowledge of the alleged threat call and said that no member of his team had received any call from Ulfa. Mr Sammujwal Bhattacharya, chairman of the North-east Students' Organisation and adviser of the All Assam Students' Union, has asked all the people of Assam to back Debojit. NESO said it saw a sinister ploy to spoil the chances of Debojit and that everyone from the N-E should support him.
Noted Assamese playback singer Tarali Sharma and Khagen Mahanta,
an eminent artiste, also rallied behind Debojit.

Jus'Talking : The wrong tune of a talent contest
Samrat Choudhary
New Delhi, January 21, 2006

A voice from Assam can be the voice of India as much as a voice from Delhi or Mumbai or Chennai

TV these days is so full of low-quality drama that I've given up watching it. A saas or a bahu occasionally registers fleetingly on my TV screen and my consciousness.

Apart from that there are those equally interminable 'talent hunts'. These compete with WWE in their style of building up rivalries and contests. Singers deliver dialogues in the manner of Batista meeting John Cena.

It's all too melodramatic to bear, but apparently it works with most of my country cousins. Now one of these shows, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa on Zee TV, has finally neared its finale. The mode of selection of these contestants was mainly by viewers poll on phone and SMS.

The first contestant who made it to the round of three is Debojit from Assam. He suddenly found himself facing a rebellion from his fellow-contestants, who threatened to walk out of the event without explicitly stating why. I would have changed the channel at all this natak but a statement by one of the 'mentors' in the show stopped me.

Debojit got 80 percent of his votes from Assam, Adesh Shrivastava said. "We want a voice of India, not a voice of Assam", someone in the studio shouted. Fair enough. Except that, firstly, the fellow had polled more votes than other prospective 'voices of India', and secondly, Assam is still despite its several insurgencies a part of India.

A voice from Assam can be the voice of India as much as a voice from Delhi or Mumbai or Chennai. For the past few centuries, the West has dominated the world. So their perceptions of what is 'mainstream' have come to dominate globally.

Today we all speak English, listen to pop and rock, pride ourselves on our knowledge of Hollywood and European soccer, and of course dress in jeans and skirts and such likes. However, the point to note is that the average college or school student in America doesn't know Hindi, or listen to Indian music, or follow cricket, or know who Amitabh Bachchan is.

When Big B was voted the greatest star of stage or screen in a BBC online poll in 1999, there was considerable consternation in the West. The thing that went around then was that India, with its huge population, had voted for Big B and so he won there was no way he could be better than the best of the West.

Which may be true. If the world accepts the definition of what is 'good' cinema. Unfortunately, for me, a song from Chhote Miyan Bade Miyan is better cinema than an hour of Gone With the Wind simply because I enjoy it more. So there are these disparities in the world.

The artists will treat non-artists as charlatans if we try their game. The West will be miffed if our man wins a global award over their icons. Their sense of domination will get jolted. Now think of how the 'centre' treats the periphery in India. If you don't speak Hindi, don't listen to Bollywood music, don't care about cricket, you're an outsider already.

If on top of that you look different say, Mongoloid your status as second-class citizen is almost confirmed. That's the way life is for many people from the Northeast who come to 'mainland India'.

They can either become duplicates of the 'mainstream' people or stay in their ghettoes. And even if they do adopt 'mainstream' ways, the story doesn't always end happily.

Like Debojit, for example, who sings in Hindi, but must now contend with the fact that his support base is from the Northeast and not the cow belt, which is the 'mainstream' merely because it sends more crooks to Parliament.

You have hit the RIGHT POINT! SUPERB! My Salute to you

I am personally a great fan of Hem, but being a true Indian I take offense to the fact that Debu is getting raw treatment from rest of the nation. There is no difference between him and us. He is us! Let's be patriotic to the country and not just to our region.

Canada, Montreal

The last 2 episodes were heart breaking. Debojit had to bear all these with astonishment. I was surprised myself. The blame about getting 80% votes seems very pointless. Beacause we are in a Democratic era. For example, in canada, ontario holds the maximum nunber of seats in the country and the liberal wins justs by winning in ontario. So, if this is acceptable in a peaceful country like canada here, then why not in India as well. After all India is following the foot steps of the western country in every aspect(its a fact). If you have been watching Saregamapa from the beginning then you could easily guess that Himesh and Adhesh are more personal while Ismail Darbar has been completely neutral. He is direct. So, Debojit does deserves that position of being in the top 3 .
Indirectly its an attack towards Saregamapa as well. And Mr.Gajendra Singh should take action against this kind of political move, which not only decreased the reputation of Saregamapa but also broke the rules as well.

It's is true that Debojit is getting 80% votes from Assam. But he is getting votes from all over the world too. A proff is that We are voting for him from Canada.
And By the comments from Adeshji it seems like Assam is not a part of India. WHich insults all the assamese. Personally i am greatly offended by this because I am born in Silchar, Assam. And i consider myself as an Indian. So why this dividing, Adeshji should take his words back.

if u think I m rude. I was saying what I thought about Vinit. Specially I am very very curious about the Vinit-Himesh relationship. I read in an indian newspaper that the relationship between them is much more(?) than Guru sishya. It might be just a rumour or yellow journalism. But the way Himesh acts in Sa re ga ma pa looks like to him Vinit is much more (?) than a sishya. And nothing wrong if somebdoy is gay or lesbian...it is a personal choice. So even if he is, it is not a bad thing. Keep it up Vinit and Himesh, both of you are REAL entertainer. This Sa Re Ga Ma Pa is much more than WWW

YEAH! you are 200% right man. i m not sure about vinit but himesh i am damn sure he is G factor. actually i've never mistaken recognizing a gay. and one thing i would like to say. if himesh really believes in VINIT AND HE THINKS THAT VINIT WILL WIN IT THEN WHAT THE POINT OF HYPING HIM ALL THE TIME IN EVERY MINUTE OF HIS PERFORMANCE. IF HIMESH REALLY BELIEVES ON HIM THEN WHY DONT HE JUST WAIT FOR THE PUBLIC VOTING! WHY TO BEG VOTES LIKE A POLITICIAN, ITS NOT POLITICS THOUGH! IF HE THINKS VINIT GONNA WIN THEN FINE! JUST BE QUIET, WAIT AND SEE. G FACTOR H.

PEACE OUT\/
