I am also a big fan of SPB. In fact his song "Aa ja meri jaan.." that another contestant sang is one of my all time favorites. Also, the many songs he has sung for Salman Khan are excellent. I do think that he is one of the best singers in India. But I would like to point out that SPB does not get to sing as many Hindi songs as other playback singers like Sonu Nigam or Udit Narayan do and these latter singers do not get to sing as many Telugu or Tamil or Kannada songs as SPB does.
Now coming to what you did not like in my post, the point about Hema being a caricature of everything a North Indian would think about South Indians is totally related to his diction. I realize that discerning viewers of the show from North India and elsewhere vote for him on merit and merit alone. We Indians, always belittle anything that is strange to us. Hema's accent is strange to North Indians, so my point is regarding that aspect of his singing. He may be losing some votes because of his diction since he is a very well rounded singer otherwise.
Coming to rigging the voting process, is it really rigging when the show itself does not pretend to adhere to the one person one vote principle. If that rule had been in place then it would be valid to have that debate. But in the absence of that rule, this debate is pointless. Besides, if internet voting is to be rigged then Hema would win hands down since he comes from a city full of very good IT professionals. It defies imagination that Debu, from Silchar, is the one getting this accusation thrown at him. I am not too familiar with the number of IT professionals that Silchar can boast of, but if one of them has come up with a way to support Debu, then congratulations to them. At least they cared enough for their man.
The only way to stop this mudslinging about voting is to stop the public voting, get rid of the mentors and let a panel of informed judges(not Kumar Sanu and Daler Mehdi) decide who is good and who is bad.
