I think it is not fair to compare both of them as who is better singer. They both are wonderful singers and both have sung such beautiful melodious hits for us to enjoy. In no way I am an exper but when I went to Sonuji and Uditji's concert (on separate occassions) I found Sonuji as a singer and performer just incredible. I have no idea about Udit Narayan's background but apparenttly he did not sound classically trained because he couldn't sing the songs on stage as good as he sounds in the movies,

Yes. It is a pure waste of time to make a comparison. Both have sung some good songs. Individual preference matters more than how well they have sung.
There are several bad singers but still I like them and I think they are good. Similarly there are several good singers whom we do not like.
But generally certain song types are suited to different singers and their voices.

You do know that they are huge fans of each other, right? Uditji is so senior to Sonu that I am sure that he would not want this debate. Let's hope that there is enough good work and demand to sustain these and other good singers.

I thought Uditji has more or less retired from Bollywood, do not know which was his last song. But he sings for Bhojpuri movies I think, according to the newsreports.

Retired? No, he sang "Falak Tak Chal" and "Dil Dance Mare" from the movie, Tashan. Yes, he is doing less playback singing. Now Sonu Nigam is doing that also.
