Did it take a LOT for ARR to create an album for commercial film?

Discussion is going on. A R rehman has been accused of copying a song from Michael learns to rock, the song jaane na kaha duniya hai (Jaane tu?.) is being claimed to have been inspired by the hit ?The Actor? (after one minute of the song roughly). Here is link to this disussion:

In my opinion this sounds more like similar rock ballad arrangement than a copy (like Pritam does). But others have a harder opinion.

Two more songs of the same album of A R Rehman (Jaane tu?) have been accused of having taken inspiration, I leave the judgement on you.

Actually some of the 'original' songs like kelele producing a masterpiece like parkhadey in the hands of A R Rehman doesn't go down well with me, I think parkhadey (see itowfs) is an original composition of ARR.

-wise there is not much similiarity, but the way both the singers have sung(tenor) it felt it's been inspired the very first time heard.

I heard both songs. The tunes are different therefore I don't consider it to be a copy. There have been much more blatant lifts in bollywood by the likes of Pritam, Anu Malik, Bappi Lahiri etc. that this doesn't even fit in the same category.

Don't know about plagiarizing, but ARR is surely the most overrated MD. He may have given some memorable music, but just to give him a Filmfare everytime he gets nominated is too much.

As Madan Mohan had said once that he did not get a FF award because they asked for Rs 25000. "I dont want to buy an award" he said. Those were the days of great MDs.

Hmm.. thats interesting.. Most of the MDs get inspired by other songs.. Even MDs like RD Burman have been caught doing plagiarism.. So, this is just a part of our music industry..

awww thats a raw nerve.
My aunty always told me RD Burman has lifted some of the English songs and I never agreed (being born in 70s) how could I lose fight to some one beleiving whole heartedly in music of 50s only, later on I came across some such examples, but then I also came across similar examples where inspiration/lifting was done by Naushad saab, Salil da and others..over all I think now if inspiration is given due credit and given royalty should its OK, music is a vast field. Like SEL did for pretty woman.
Devi Prasad must be very happy to hear that ARR has taken inspiration from his song, true or not, his version is being heard now.

Now many are claiming that hogi wo ...is very close to nothing is gonna change my love for you, I feel all of them are soft rock ballad hence sound same, but others feel if it was Pritam or Anu this would have gone down as copying but ARR is getting sugar coated treatment.

Giving the due credit/acknowledging is a good thing to do. It's a natural thing for a music director to get inspired, so many bollywood songs right from the begining are inspired from folks-ragas-western classics. At least these MDs should be given the credit for turning "Base metal into Gold(appealing to the Indian taste)"(Acknowledgement: I copied this line from some IF member 😊).
