Should'nt the FF section be an exception, I mean not all readers want to post 150 characters of apprecaition to the update, but for writers even 2 words of encouragement r more than enough. I know the Like button is useful sometimes, but a comment means a lot more to the writers than simply pressing the Like button, u get to know what the reader feels abt the fanfic.

Just my suggestion, otherwise it is quite a good feature in other forums

i still think it was not right to delete a post of suggestion, it could have been edited to remove the quote... many other people have quoted others, which i do not see deleted...! 😕

thanks for considering to lower the limit to about 50... that is tons better than 150... still, i feel it may be a bit high... for example, i am mostly active in bollywood section where some people sometimes post pictures from coming up movies or promos, which mostly do not require big comments sometimes... sometimes, i write essays (which most people do not even read)... and keep asking the same questions, which is kind of frustrating... 😒

it would help if you reduce it to around 30 to cover most of the forum sections... because i know in some of the serial updates (i used to be active on sahara one and sony tv as well as bandini section), sometimes, it would be kind of frustrating to see two pages of thanks or t4s when i want to read what people actually think about the episode... so yes, for those spammers to stop, i do think the tag feature sounds great...

i do understand that you want a rule where you want to include everyone's point of view and i do appreciate that... so if you have made up your mind about reducing the limit, i would suggest to lower the limit at least...!! however, in some of the sections (i can't say about the Chat section because i have never been there), but regarding the Music section and games, it would not work out, so do consider those...!

as for Newbies, i think it's a bit unfair for some to have a limit of 100 because that is a bit high... while i'm sure there will be spammers amongst them, i do think it's unfair to the others... when i started posting, i remember i used to write about two lines or maybe three... but hardly an essay, which i started later... LOL... so that way, i do feel the limit should be decreased a bit for them, just to be fair...

and so far, i do like the Hall of Fame idea... and i have started to give people credit, i.e. i use the like button quite a lot... does not mean i agree with the posts, but i even give credit if a post is well written or if it is good discussion, because i do think that does encourage people to write better instead of meaningless posts... 😳

i also do think that mod need to keep a check on members who openly bash others and always seem to get away with it... sometimes, i am afraid i feel that i have to be politically correct because i really do not want to start receiving hate pm's which i have heard quite a lot about, so i do think that needs to be taken care of as well...!

also, i have to agree with Imran94, some sections have no moderators and despite having active members, there is no action taken... so hopefully Dev Team can do something about that as well...

and i do appreciate all the efforts Dev Team puts into making the site a better experience for all of us... and i really have to give kudos to you guys to encourage discussion before implementing a rule... so thank you guys for making this a pleasant experience...

Thank you all for taking time out and giving us some really good suggestions. The idea is surely not to curb discussion or to have too many rules that it feels suffocating.

The idea was to have something in place before we start the Hall Of Fame for Most popular posters on India Forums and we didnt want it to be filled with only the ones who keep posting "Thnx" without even reading the whole topic.

In one of the topic it was about some legend died and someone posted "Cool Thnx" without even reading. And due the number of posts made per day its really difficult for us to filter out such posts manually so we want to automate a bit and repeated offenders are tagged as "Spammers".

One more interesting feature that we are working on is integreting India-Forums with all the popular Social Networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, Orkut, Yahoo and more..

We will soon be posting more about this new development 😊

Brilliant idea :D but requiring 150 words is a bit hardcore so i am thinking maybe 100 would be better?😛

Well, I understand that there is problem for the moderators with the number of spammers, but what about games on the forum or members of Chat Clubs? Why should they have a limit??

I think 150 is too high of a number. Can is be 3-5 for regular members, and for members marked as spammers, 150?

but with the writters, there might be a problem as we writters reply to the comments just to encourage our readers to support us in future as they are who actually made us

so if we have to say thanks to them in reply, will that is not going to be hard....

plus we writters need that 60pm per hour restriction to be over as we need to pm a no of readers as they want to be get informed.....its hard to wait an hour to just pm the rest of the readers....

or instead of that start muti pm facility so we can send pm's to mutiple ppl without doing it again and again

i know i m asking for too much but thats what we writters really want

keep going on with the great work

I think you were in a hurry, and forgot to reveal the meaning of the word 'forum' to us. But I'll do that for ya 😊
A Forum is:

1. an assembly, meeting place, television program, etc., for the discussion of questions of public interest.
2. A public meeting place for open discussion.
3. A medium for open discussion or voicing of ideas, such as a newspaper, a radio or television program, or a website.

It would be great if you could thank me (150 characters will do) cos I worked very hard to find the meaning on dictionary.com and post it here. And also click the 'Like' button if you're in the mood. 😳

Another thing, please explain how this change will improve IF. I think the IF Dev Team wants the members to speak up:

We would like to have your thoughts about this and whether you think this is a good idea. Also what other suggestions you have. Maybe if we get a better suggestion we could go with that. So please voice your opinions and feedback.

Thanks a lot Sayeed for pointing out what a forum means.......some people needs to know the meaning desperately 😉

A Forum is:

1. an assembly, meeting place, television program, etc., for the discussion of questions of public interest...
2. A public meeting place for open discussion.
3. A medium for open discussion or voicing of ideas, such as a newspaper, a radio or television program, or a website.

a place for Discussion and voicing ideas........thats what a forum is supposed to be 👍🏼.........but many times "voicing ideas" and "discussion" are considered bashing by many people.......thats what makes us "poor illiterate people" i guess .......i would like to remain illiterate if voicing opinions means illiteracy 😉

I also suggest.....Some promotion after IF-Rockerz

Something many of us want...we all post even a lot after IF-Rockerz, but there is nothing to look forward to😒..!!!
