"Power corrupts, Absolute power corrupts absolutely"
Today's episode for me is about Achilles heel and Power. I am rewatching a few episodes to do the Kahani so far for 100 episodes and certain things take new meaning when watched again.
For instance, the introduction of Dheeru. He is introduced when Vikramaditya was in the hospital as this shadowy figure who first threatens the doctor with making his wife, son and mom disappear if Vikram dies. He pays money to the doctor and then he says to an unconscious Vikram that he cannot die until a few scores are settled. He calls him papa in a mocking tone. Only later is he introduced as Adhiraj's father.
A generation ago Dheeru and Purushotam were faithful workers of LM. The family prospered. But these people were sacrificed for Baldev. What happened ? A generation later these people are like Kaal on the family. But did they take up arms on their own ? No. They did it to defend themselves because they were wronged. Vikram loves to play chess that too on a board with carved figures that resemble human faces, not how normal people play with blank pieces. But somewhere he and LM family confused the metal pieces on a chess board with actual humans. Just because you have power you cannot abuse it. It will always come back to haunt you. It may take a generation or two, but will have consequences.
Vikram taught his student Satrupa absolute power very well. Satrupa does not move from her decision with Vatsalya. What happened ? He ran away. Satrupa was the best mother she could be to him, she literally sacrificed her blood for him every year, killed for him. But did that save him ? No. Even if she became human Kali she could not save him. She threatened him. Had she been a little understanding perhaps Vatsalya would not have felt cloistered and run away. He would not have been put in the path of people who wanted him dead.
Today direct parallel Ladoo and Anami. Right down to similar kind of love, but unmoving decision. "I know what is best for you". Threats. And Ladoo ran away and was put in harm's way by the same people who harmed Vatsalya.
It's the people who get drunk with absolute power that also want people to bow to them. Well someday they have to do so as well. Today Anami bowed to Satrupa, all her tevar gone. Everyone has an Achilles heel. Tomorrow it will be Satrupa's turn. She feels guilty for bringing Ladoo into this. She more than anyone knows what could happen. She has sacrificed three children to the evil that lurks in LM. She has given a promise to Anami and she will follow through at any cost, even her life. Will that be the way she finally bows down ?
Soon it will be Vikram's turn. I don't know what game Dheeru is playing but the price he will extract from Vikram will be the biggest I feel. But he too has an Achilles heel he does not know, Adhiraj's feelings for Anami.
Then there are the unpredictables like Narottam. People have used him his entire life for their needs. He has been abused by many. But the one person who was nice to him just because she saw him as a person was Anami. Today he could not bear to see her cry. That was his Achilles heel. He saw her fall at Satrupa's feet. The direct parallel I see is Anami sitting on the floor trying to take a thorn from a worker's leg during Durga Puja. It was then she saw Durga Maa start to fall. Will seeing Anami on the floor finally start Narottam on a path to good ?
Finally Ladoo. He is no Vatsalya, brought up in the palace. He is a spunky kid used to fighting fake Sadhu's. He will need to find his strength and fight and he will. I already feel sorry for Purushotam 😆
Very good episode.
