I have a friend who is in her mid thirties... She had 6-7 abortion after her first female child... Be cause she wanted her second to be a male one..and she told me blatantly she is. Not the only one there are Many ladies who have done this in singapore .. As we get to know the sex of the foetus..
I found the matter disgusting..

I also have a couple of friends who have 2 daughters.. Who have been mocked at by their friends ..I am not talking about rural india..
These are Non resident Indians where most of the ladies are college educated and are holding on to some jobs..
If this is their thinking how can we point fingers at mohini who has not stepped foot out of her village...

Wow, that is just horrible, your friend feeling the pressure to have a male child in that way. I have 2 daughters myself and I live in a very well developed country and still I hear absolutely stupid comments from people of all backgrounds about having a male child. I find it disgusting. I make no bones about saying so as well. 😃 When I get asked if I am not going to have a boy (like I can determine this) I ask why I would want to do that? LOL. It sort of shocks people. hahaha. Stupid questions deserve stupid answers. hahah.
Anyway, its sad that we still live with nonsense like this in this day and age in all parts of the world.
As I said earlier, the only part of this storyline I can stomach is that it brings enlightenment to people of the issues facing so many couples and especially women.

way to go with that answer!👏

In my country its rare. VERY VERY rare.. meaning forcing a woman to have a son by in-laws is unheard of though the older generation as in my grandparent's generation some still prefer male children but there is no force involved as financial viability of bringing up the children well is the major determination factor abt the number of kids 1 has.

And
here abortion is absolutely illegal unless its a proven medical necessity though there r no trouble finding out the sex of the baby. But many like to be surprised n don't check.. In fact I know more well off families who have gone on to try again and again till they had a daughter. One of my closest friends has 4 elder brothers! Well they r very rich n could afford lol. And we have more girls than boys at all ages in gender ratios.

I have always thought that the best way to fight this would be to change the inheritance laws - meaning it should be legalized by governments that female children carry the father's name n male children carry the mother's! Then this sick practice will stop! 🥱

Exactly! The world would have been a better place if the abused women voiced out.

but lack of child or lack of make child is a very dominant issue in indian families even in singapore...I see some of my friends who are childless being gently nudge which is damn irritating,,,

Wow...it's just so disturbing to know that an educated woman went through so many abortions. I believe most of the Asian countries have a patriarchal society...and so the trend follows where they have a fascination towards a male child...it's some weird sense of glory. India has the highest rate of female infanticide...followed by China...who now follows the one child policy.
I really have no idea how the real rural India looks like...the pictures I see in the articles or in the discovery channel is not what it looks like Rudra's house or work place or even Tej's house...and I think Jaipur is a city or a suburb...from what you are saying...it looks like education or awareness will not help the problem. I don't know what will.

Thanks for sharing Zee...yes that convo between Maithli and Samrat was the one...but here the actress explains it clearly...

This scene played out just before the adoption thing happened and Paro was almost slapped...

so it seems the Maithli will not allow Samrat to speak up until the day of the wedding...and its at that point when Samrat will blurt out that its him who has an issue...and not Maithli...LOL...and the bride will be taken by Sumer😆

unfortunately it is always the woman who gets blamed even if the problems lies in the husband. our society have this tendency to blame only women for whatever goes wrong. it is really sad that each time it is the women who become the victim.

coming to rr, I did not like how cvs are dealing with the situation. the words used by mohini while talking about mythili was beyond disgusting. I don't understand why cvs are using such dialogue. I mean there are so many woman who are not able to have children and hearing something like this will cause a lot of pain to them. I think cvs should have taken extra care while handling a sensitive issue like this.

exactly...next time they ask you such questions...just ask them to zip it up...it's none of their business anyways. Just to let you know...it's great that you have shut them up.

I believe having a child or not having a child...how many children should one have should entirely depend on the couple. For me and my husband...we decided to have one child and we have our beautiful daughter...we are done because we are both working and dedicated to Careers too. It works out fine.

I don't like mohini... hate is a harsh word... but yes i do "hate" mohini

A message to the CVs: This problem is faced by many families... Please deal with this issue perfectly to make the people realize how cruel they are to a couple when they think about a next marriage...

The amount of pain a couple has to undergo both emotionally and physically (in hospital) is really sad...

Even adoption is looked down upon in many families...

The dialogues used by mohini is disgusting... 😡

Just like "watching violence " all the time by kids is not good...

"watching hate... and disgusting dialogues" all the time by oldies is not good either...

Spread a good message... spread the strength the family should give to a couple which is going thru such a time...

I want RR to be different..
