But I guess, that is the story they are going to tell. One angry manchild who was brought down on his knees by a... superwoman 😆

This guys is our problem on this forum. This is why GH is unable to connect to some of us or most of us. I am just wondering... if this would be a problem which say a viewer in a remote village would be facing to believe?

I totally agree with you SJ. It's high time they refine Paro's character.

It is so repetitive. here is my take- they wanted to get these two married the last time, but then Ashish fell ill and the cricket season began. Even now they are rushing into another wedding simply because IPl starts the week after.

having said that, the story is much more than marriages. I just want this marriage to be done to see where and how this story will move forward.

I dont think i can bear another wedding or another shadhi rasam anymore.. i guess now i can understand why aRudra is finally marrying her.. at least this chapter will be shut down...

I was reading all your amazing responses, SJ but unfortunately can't quote them all in one post...

1. Like you, i don't have any problem watching a male-centric show.. But then make it male-centric. Don't make the hero a dumb who, in the name of a mission kills each and every person in a barath and just before killing the last one, realizes that.. 'no, i need her to be my last witness!' OO - releases the witness suddenly and secretly follows her and when that lone witness is lost, quietly comes back home. OR, as you mentioned, after his father gets almost killed by arson, gets busy with various social/anti-social works, like marrying a girl to a lunatic in exchange of 13 lacs, does push-ups etc etc... but comfortably forgets to lodge a police complain or conduct any sort of investigation on his own..even forgets to check that room for once!

2. But if this is not a male-centric show, rather a romantic show with mythological touch (mythology provides some creative breaks to the creative writers, after all), then do it properly with gradual development of characters and the relations. You can not just declare someone the mythological Parvati, because her name is Parvati .. I don't know much about mythology but I don't believe that to be a great mythological woman one has to be totally devoid of self-respect.

So actually I completely get your point. If it is a show with two leads who had equal amounts tragedies in their lives... you need to get the perspectives of both. Not necessarily Paro's perspectives have to be written by a woman. I don't mind if they show her suffering again and again, if they show her defeated again and again, even if in the hands of a man, i don't mind watching her rejected, tortured or insulted (because all these are realities).. BUT I definitely do not like it when they take away all her senses of self respect and dignity.

This post is abosolutely fantastic...some great view points..femininst...freudian,, mythological..masochistic..
I guess more depth, eloquence , words, references than the show warrants simply because it is trp driven..
I thoroughly enjoyed the discussion so far..such a lot of talented people are you all!!!!
For my own self ,,I am simply not that invested..I am done..I am enjoying the ride..I enjoyed the mirror scene whenre both break down on either side..
Sex sells ...that explains why Paro has to be the backless choli one..Why Rudr gets open chested kurtas..why the PR scenes get dissected minutely...
I am going to be absolutely honest...I really enjoy the PR scenes..they have fantastic chemistry.I guess I am in for the sex...the disconnect to me is probably because I have not really looked..though I get where you are coming from SJ..
However I am going to go off at some point ..because at some point there would have done there to death...and I would have looked for some other jodi to hold my interest..
If I really want a good story ..there are some very good Pakistani plays..fantastic because of limited number of episodes and the story is the focus..
I am also in for the fantastic bonding time on IF...feels so good to be part of this big massive internet commmunity..have my own dear memories to IF which bring me back to this every time..
SJ ..your posts always stand out ,the famous and the infamous ones !!!!!!!!👏 One can never ignore you!!!

I guess the sensibilities of the online audience is very different. yesterday RR (which I think most of us would agree was not up to scratch) clocked up the best ever ratings for Colours in UK.

This whole ratings thing is intriguing. I'd have imagined that our opinions are standard for the regular audience, but then why do ratings almost always end up in the other direction of the opinion of the online population.

This is a universal trend. Reasonableness and logic get less support most of the time.

It will be out of context though, but I am intrigued to refer it here... When Ishwarchandra Vidyasagar introduced the bill for widows' remarriage ..there was more or less 100 signatories in favour of his bill whereas signatories against the bill crossed 100,000 number.

And that applies to me too! There must be shows where women are shown the way i want them to be, but i am asked to vote for my favourite show, I would vote for RR.

But NB yesterdays numbers would have been driven by earlier telecast episodes in the week as well as the promos aired. They would not have known what was up for serving in yesterday's episode. it would not be linearly applicable. the viewing picked up with the promo of Paro running to propose and the earlier episodes. It would be interesting to see what the viewership is on Monday, but again it would be clouded by next Wednesday's promo... but does it matter when it is working?

Hi SJ . Perfect post ! My feeling exactly .initially I was attracted to this show because it is different . It was man's story . Angry man . Story of A misogynist . .Misogynists are not born, they are made.
I agree with the you that female touch is missing . Writes Reminds me of Sidmund Freud .
A frequent criticism of Freud is that he did not understand women and that his theory of personality is mostly a theory oriented toward men. There is a large measure of truth to this criticism, and Freud acknowledged that he lacked a complete understanding of the female psyche. Near the end of his life, he was still asking, "What does woman want?" .
POV is For TRP and to attract audience they are focusing on mythology . Rudra and Parvati .
Paro is firm believer of That everything happens for a reason . Following this principle she is suffering from sexual harassment( she was force to marry Rudra ) verbal and physical abuse and being treated like a doormat .
We grow up reading mythological stories but in modern age they don't help us infact they hurt us . But if they prefer to use mythology then Parvati also had kali avatar we don't see that with Paro .
Lots of women writers who have suffered pain and tragedy are able to write better for women. Paro believes she is destine for Rudra .she believes in commitment , an expression of love , to endure unkindness or cruelty to forgive and forget .Shivji never insulted Parvati or shoved her against the wall .or called her characterless . I really wanted to see Paro walking out of that haveli and say ****you !! That would have been prefect Paro

Rudra comes across very bipolar . In one second his hate turns into affection . . I cannot enjoy this romance it's very forced on me . No one is capable of loving man how pushes and shoves you ,Publicly humiliates you and throws you out of house unless you are heartless pathetic human being and Paro is not that person . We don't know who she is ! We don't know what she feels expect " Parvati supposed to be for Rudra "

PS . I read few of the fantastic responses . I intend to read all of the posts .

My special request to NB , I read that you see YHM . Please join us on YHM forum we need writers like you and SJ on that forum .
