The balance in the show has always been skewed in Rudras favor..the amount of time spent on bringing out his anguish, his reactions..and onoy a part of it if at all to explain Paro's state of mind..
and that creates disconnect with both the characters...overdoing it for one and underdoing it for another

The show lacks sensitivity when it comes to females..its not always black and white..hate and live..but there are grey zones and that is what they fail to captivate except for a moment here and there in case of Paro
I for one find it abrupt..Paro falling in love with him and then going public about it and not even being affected by his callous words/actions..not being affected by seeing him talk abt Sumer and her..
Its difficult to digest and takes time and explaination to understand..

The way they are portraying Paro..she comes across as detached..life shattering revealations have no lasting impact on her..just affect her for a bit and then she is shown to forget
same for any humiliation/encroachment of personal space

A balanced perspective makes the story far more gripping story than a view so titled that you stop feeling for both..

That aside another problem is lack of a specific story line..its been running around marriages far to long..most of the major premises i.e. Thakursa crimes and Thakurain being Rudras mother have been revealed and apart from the very forced MU regarding Paro setting Dilsher on fire there is very little conflict...and conflict is what sustains a story..and i dont mean forced MU ones were one of the two is made to look like a fool to believe in the Mu
They seem to be running around like headless chicken wrt the story

okay so thats the reason Paro has conveniently forgotten that her true jija could be either dead/mistress/prostitute by now as confirmed by both Ruddy boy and *sigh*Thakur?!!! and that is why she's playing happy families with being subjected to bland humiliation and rejection?

I thought it was the flavor of the month but forgot its been like this since forever.

Im not saying that the TRP audience is a fool and understands only sexual foreplays and macho chest beating thus the rises in TRPs, coz shows with some of the highest TRPs are more story driven, so RR too has its substance.
But the substance is imbalanced and the whole lot of chemical lochha is hazardous. Rudra is broken, he has pain, suffered loss, needs physiological help and a lap to put his head on, forgetting Paro's orphan status, here craving for a parent, some known people in the hoard of strangers, her trauma about BSD peeps and a lot of etcs.

Paro in other words is a vessel to be used to raise TRPs(in the helpless female mannerism coz TRPs audiences like the whole package of pain and pain n hero comes to gain) but not to be a character who raises the standard of the story.

PS_ It doesn't mean that the standard of RR's story is low, its Paro's contribution to it that is negligent.

Yes, I agree that Rudra has not had a easy ride in life but neither has Paro and when they choose to ignore her grief to show scenes in which I hRudra is breaking down not just once but several times I feel quite disconnected and somewhat annoyed at this fact. onestly feel that many women who are watching the show might feel disconnected from Paro's character as well which is why the trps are not reflecting great numbers. When I was watching Sanaya's previous show on Star Plus I felt like I could relate to the character somewhat which is why I enjoyed watching it but unfortunately I feel extremely disconnected when observe Paro's characterization. I just hope someone from the RR team will read your post because SJ, you have summed up and hit ever nook and cranny on what was disturbing me while watching the show for the past few months.

i might be stepping the boundary here as i dont really know what went behind this show , but because i am extremely free today and my real life job is primarily to do with some business sector understanding let me give a try
this is a medium to highly concentrated industry
there are three parties mainly , makers. production house , channel , creative team ,
there intentions and interests are different from a show

the makers :
i think every show is made for a target audience ,the main concentration for the makers is on attaining viewership in least time , -ad revenue

the channel :
more with popularity , mostly a specific target group , the channel would really like it , if the show may not be gathering good trps but is very poluplar with a different group (like the teens or men)-more subscription

creative team :
they want the show to be noticed among the other makers and not channel , so trp again is the motivator -more projects inter competition mostly trp driven(something that can go positive and negative , may be the trp snake is not that big after all , it is as big as they make it )

with RR
who is the target group , the similarities in some dialogues and teh kind of romantic scenes , i think they are trying to target the younger crowd , the crowd which came to existence after IPK
and colors is not the only channel , star too we have IPK 2 , IPK was not the most watched show(trp wise) i am sure we would have not a DABH cos there is no gap there , there is some other show with similar theme
with IPK's closure , there was a new may not be new but strong target group identified , that is also to do with overseas viewing
i feel the makers have a lot of faith in the project for teh same reason , initial episodes were more or all about rudra's dark side , paro's angle came much much later
but but it didnot do business like they expected , and the split , which again i feel is partially due to lack of trust in the project , or feeling more trust in the other project

now they tried modifying the story to be more inclusive , and gather trps first ,
if you show a public proposal from a village girl
or dilsher being burned
or a sudden hate marriage , the viewers might tune in to see what is happening , that is like buying a coke once if a new ad comes up , but whether you keep buying it depends on how much you like it , and the daily soap is not coke , it doesnt work on one time sales but on retention

trps will gain , because a lot of newer people might tune in but is it sustainable ?
so in their attempt to get people to watch it they are forgetting to execute theory story , we the regular viewers are losing connect

The 1 hr episode could have been one of the worst cringe fest, but Sanaya gave the scenes and her character the much needed dignity and restraint. So it is a request to the writers to delve more on paro's development and not just focus on Rudra.

This show is definitely better than anything else (barring YHM and JA) on Tv at the moment. Just tune into Star plus at 7 to wtach the TRP topping show and you would understand how RR is miles ahead in spite of its inconsistent characterisations. I'm not joking.

P.S- Its nice to see old members on this thread who had given up watching RR long time ago. Welcome back!

I noticed that there were some members on this thread who had said that they gave up watching RR. Interesting that they have strong opinions on a show they don't even watch. :-)

I agree with what you said above NB, about the other shows, barring the bit about JA (not a fan). Am enjoying YHM though (for now- Ekta show). I like Tumhar Paaki too now( could not stand it in the beginning) Iqbal Khan is cute and a very good actor.

As for RR, I'm enjoying the version that I'm watching as I can see and understand the Paro that the CVs have created. I don't have a different Paro in my head who has to do certain things or behave in a particular way to make me happy. I have also learned not to jump the gun with this show, as the loops are usually closed and most issues are addressed sooner or later.

SJ, for me I am not sure about a women's touch, it is as though the story is not flowing and everything is bandaged...All of paro's emotions are not properly shown... Except throwing leads together...I would want them to take it slow and show the emotions...

There are many posts in the thread that have some valid points. Sadly my like button isnt working.

One of my favorite scenes in RR is when Paro pointed the gun at Rudra and then at herself. It was such a poignant scene, your heart bleeds for the characters. But since then the equilibrium is just not right. While the writers have given us Rudra's break-down scenes time and again, its a shame they didnt delve so much into Paro's sadness or pain.

But all isnt lost. Given that they have changed Paro's character, lets hope they stick with the new vision.

I completely agree with your point on marriages. Three weddings is just too much to take. It is so repetitive. here is my take- they wanted to get these two married the last time, but then Ashish fell ill and the cricket season began. Even now they are rushing into another wedding simply because IPl starts the week after.

having said that, the story is much more than marriages. I just want this marriage to be done to see where and how this story will move forward.

I love YHM especially the bond between ishika and Ruchi. However the telecast time is a major drawback. I only watch one or 2 episodes over the weekend. TP, never watched it.
