Today, as D-Day dawned, Everybody's carefully-laid plans were rolled-out. On the one side were Kakisa and Thakursa, launching a two-pronged attack on PaRud. On the other there was Rudra, focusing all his energy on Thakursa, unaware of Kakisa's involvement. And finally, there was Paro - hoping that her faith would indeed perform miracles and somehow set her free.
Kakisa's roll-out was meticulous.
Step 1: Get Rudra to leave without Dilsher. Tell them Dilsher would escort Paro to the Mela.
Step 2: Separate Mythili from Paro, and get Paro to stay behind to seek blessings from Dilsher.
Step 3: After Dilsher had blessed Paro, knowing that he thinks he will accompany Paro to the Mela, separate Dilsher and Paro by sending Dilsher into his room to put on his pugree.
Step 4: Immediately send Paro to wait in the car.
Step 5: Call loudly for Paro, cue Devyani to set fire to Dilsher's room.
Step 6: Go outside and tell Paro, who's waiting in the car, that Dilsher will take more time and will come with Kakisa and Sumer.
Step 7: Explain to Sumer that Paro is unaccompanied so that there is no witness that she wasn't the last to leave, and that she couldn't have started the fire. And Kakisa had already instructed Paro's driver to take the long way around to the Mela so that Paro reached last.
But there's no such thing as a perfect plan. And unknowingly, Kakisa's evil plan to kill Dilsher would be derailed by her own daughter, who returned unexpectedly to search for her earrings and slipped in under her mother's radar. Sunehri would raise the alarm and rescue Dilsher from the blaze.
Dilsher was not meant to come out of the fire alive, but even this malfunction, while not achieving Kakisa's aim, would not harm her either. No blame would attach to her. Nor even suspicion, as both Sunehri and Dilsher would identify Paro as the culprit.
The devilish Thakur had an appropriately devious plan in place, which involved drugging his wife to ensure she didn't accompany him to the Mahashivratri Mela. Make no mistake, he loved his wife very much, just not above his family name and traditions. And for that he would have to sacrifice her son and Paro baisa. To that end, Thakursa had fake guns concealed in a basket that was meant to catch the BSD's eye. And when they alerted the Major, and Rudra went to inspect the guns, Thakursa would take Paro from the wedding, while Rudra was killed.
Thakursa could not see any flaw in his plan, because he was too clever for that, but only a minor irritant, and that was his partner in crime, Mohini baisa. Mohini baisa had an unerring instinct for endangering his plans. The last time, she'd called him and got Thakurainsa on the phone instead. He had just about saved her identity from being discovered by Thakurainsa. And today, just when he'd set his plan in motion, she wanted to chat about Rudra being glued to Paro baisa. How would he separate them, her annoying voice nagged, and how would he get Paro? She showed no signs of flagging. So he finally told her very plainly indeed that unless she got off the phone he had no hope of achieving his plan. Could she just put the phone down and let him do it his way?
Rudra and Aman had as many BSD men in plainclothes as they could muster in the crowd. Their plan depended on the Thakur showing up. And once he did, they would keep an Eagle eye on him and catch him red-handed with his gun-running partners from across the border. They were expecting money to change hands, and had enough eyes on the Thakur and his men to be able to catch him with hard proof.
Rudra thought he had sufficient men on hand to keep Paro safe from the Thakur. But he had reckoned without the Kakisa and the Thakur working hand-in-glove. Consequently, Rudra had taken a major risk with Paro's life and therefore with the success of his plan.
And Paro. Paro had no plans, only faith in Bhole Nath that He hadn't abandoned her. And that he would set her free from this sham of a marriage ceremony.
The Memorable Moment of the Day: was Rudra knowing without turning around that Paro had arrived. The happiness, the triumph, the anticipation, the peace, the light in his eyes as he turned around to see his bride was just so beautiful!! No wonder Paro was transfixed as she stepped out of the car. That look was, no doubt, responsible for speeding up Paro's pulse so much that a mere touch told Rudra that she was frantic.
Today's episode, being as it was about the wedding day, could not but be about emotions regardless of how and how many plans and mind-games were being unfurled. And so we had a father's tears of happiness for his son. Although the son would not even look his father in the eye to acknowledge that truth first-hand. Dilsher blessing Paro was another moving scene. Dilsher's profound guilt still could not extinguish his happiness at his son's wedding. And it wouldn't let him grant her wish that she be blessed with freedom. Instead, he blessed Paro that she have the strength to win over her fears, and that she should not lose today, and neither should Rudra. Finally, Paro's hand placed on top of Rudra's for the Aarti gave me hope for their relationship. Much-needed hope, I might add, in the face of Rudra's heart-breaking "Paro" from the precap.
Today, acting was restrained across the board but impactful. Kali Prasad Ji stole my heart in each one of his appearances. Ananya made my skin crawl with her evilness and Tarun was simply superb as the man in love - with himself!! And Ashish and Sanaya gave us effortless chemistry from across many feet of space. 👏👏👏 to all.
Tomorrow, no doubt, will be when the gloves come off. 😭 Pretty please CVs, go easy on us!!!
