Fabulous Analysis!
Loved the first episode. I was a little worried initially, as everyone(meaning the actors and the makers) seemed really confident and when I read the tweets by ST, I was hoping that it wasn't exaggerated... But I'm so impressed. I think it was beyond my expectations. I loved the idea of starting with Rudra and Paro as kids, it totally sets the scene and gives us an idea of why there are the way they are!
My favourite scene was the bus scene when Paro throws her doll to Rudra. I'm sure he has cherished it for all these years. Will be interesting to see how they use the doll in the future.
Last but definitely not the least... Sanaya and Ashish were amazing. Even though we didn't see much of them, whatever little they did was awesome. San looked gorgeous in her ghargra choli. Didn't see a glimpse of any of her previous characters.. she was just Paro for me. Ashish's entry was brilliant!
Waiting eagerly for tomorrow!

I have NEVER watched an episode of any Indian soap with such concentration. I was completely absorbed in it. It was like watching a well-made movie. I'm sure I'd have liked it just as much if Sanaya wasn't in it. Sanaya's entry was marvelous, so was Ashish's. .A little dramatic in his case , but this is a soap. But the stars of the show were the little kids. I loved little Paro's breakdown at her parents' funeral and little Rudra was impressive from the word go. The anger, the hurt, the desperation to lash out. The scene that touched me the most, actually there were 2- one where she throws her doll at him.It was so selfless, so kind and so beautiful. And the scene where he looks out of the window to as her bus moves away- you can tell this is the first time anyone has been kind to him in a long, long time.
Rudra's actions towards the end make no sense to me , unless he's trying to intimidate her in to giving info about smugglers. But hats off to both Sanaya and Ashish. As for the little kids, take a bow, darlings. They were, as I said, the stars of the show today.
I think Paro is related to the Thakurs. Because her mama and mami called her bai-sa. That's like calling her Your Highness, as they would address a princess. Maybe her mum was from the commoners but her dad was related to the Thakur.
The butterfly though- never mind, I'll let that one minor glitch rest.

What a mind-blowing start to the show.
What a tragic start with the death of Paro's parents.
Love the young paro. From her being very happy to her turning very sad and upset after finding her parents dead.
Over on the other side a very young Rudra being teased by fellow classmates and having no sympathy from the teachers about his mother running away.
The child actor really portrayed the emotions of being angry, hurt and betrayed.
The father also feeling the hurt gives a life lesson to his son.
Then the pair meeting for the first time.
While Paro puts on a brave face for her family, Rudra has broken down.
Paro seeing this and giving Rudra some comfort with a smile and giving him her doll.
What a beautiful way to portray the scene.
15 years later and we see a grown up Paro running followed by her cousin, her seeing an injured camel, going over to comfort the camel, then asking a stranger to help who then scares her, she moves back, falls and before she realises she has been engulfed in a circle of fire.
Sanaya was brilliant in this scene.
Her saying that she can just about speak hindi in an interview and the challenge was to speak with a rajastani flair. Well she seems to be pulling it off.
Can't wait for tomorrow's episode.

Guys I just watched the episode here - (luckily they had subtitles so could understand the Rajasthani)
Totally blown away my tummy was doing backflips about 5 mins before the show started i felt like I was about to take an exam!
but what an episode it was - explosive start very literally -
I definitely detected a strong theme of violence in the harsh backdrop - firstly the brutal murder of the people in the bus including Paro's parents - who were shown as very loving parents

then the violence of the teachers, students and father towards the young Rudra, caning, fights, man-handling
then the violence of burning Paro's parents which she didn't understand and ending with Paro being surrounded by fire and Rudra approaching her with the gun - somehow the desert and the harsh backdrop really highlight the stark nature of the violence

I can see how their passion will be intense too now - there is almost no comfort cushions anywhere to be seen

Paro was the most gentle thing in this whole landscape - and seemed to signify that love can exist even in these places - maybe that was what the butterfly was all about - that something delicate and frail can survive in this harsh place.

@Diya - awesome take - and i remembered the articles about the ring of fire and the camels too ( I am guessing the injured camel was Meera!) I hope they shot the ring of fire sequence early in the morning as it's hot enough outside during the day!
@ Guinea - great take I had forgotten the words that Desdemona's dad said to Othello and that they were exactly the same as Rudra's dad said to him - well spotted😃

wonderful reviews by everyone on this thread - loved reading them all

Finally got to watch the episode.. and I am literally at loss of words..
Well ... not only because I turned speechless by the show, also because so much has been said already..

The show has shown excellence in all segments - background score, cinematography, outfits, location and most importantly the actors. Every actor has worked remarkably well.. But the highlight of today's episode was little Rudra... I wish, that boy had a permanent role in the show! He is so perfect, his expression, body language ..and especially when he started crying in the bus! There were loneliness, pain, anguish and above all helplessness... Wonderful acting for a child like him!

Sanaya's introduction scene was beautiful.. She entered with a blow of fresh air - innocence personified. There had been some complaints in the forum about her Rajsthani dialect.. to be honest, it really doesn't matter to me.. the only thing that matters to me whether I understood the meanings or not..

Besides these, there had been some interesting issues that might generate debate in the social forums.. So far, BSD had been shown as cruel, senseless villains.. Normally border guards are not popular in any part of the world.. and here, its a border with Pakistan and veerpur seems to be like an enclave .. The lives of people in these areas are terrible.. Beyond local politics there are greater and wider issues like regional politics, illegal economic activities, cross border crimes etc which shape the lives of the people in those border villages.. I hope all these will be shown keeping the sensitivity of the issues in mind...

Lastly - thank you Diya.. your post kept me cool for the rest of the day..

An explosive episode indeed and how the forum too has exploded. Loving the vibe here. So many good writers have come back, hope it only gets better from here on * touch wood*

Already every angle has been highlighted and analysed, so don't know what more to add. The episode far exceeded what I had hoped for and it encapsulated the theme/ essence of this show. It reminded me of what one of the producers had said that even in the harshest desert, the the cactus flower blooms, so in the midst of violence, pain, betrayal and anger there is still a glimmer of hope and love shown beautifully in the bus scene of the kids.

The technical, creative and music department deserve a round of applause. The stars today were the child artists, what a wonderful heart wrenching performance, they showed the pain and agony of Rudra and Paro beautifully.

Today the foundation was laid for the complicated road ahead for this love story and more pain is in store for Rudra and Paro. I connected to the characters and their emotions, so some practical details, I could easily ignore.

Thank you everyone who highlighted the connection to Othello, now we know where the inspiration was used. Looking forward to tomorrow's episode and fervently hoping that this time round the writers will explore the pain and emotions of both the leads. One more line of appreciation for the side actors, who are doing a splendid job.

After the kids of course the highlight was Paro's and Rudra's entry. Meera made her appearance too 😊

Thank you for an awesome take Diya.

I guess I missed few bits in the starting, like, I caught up from where several people are shown dead in the bus. 🤔 The girl who played young Paro is really cute and I liked her. 😳 And my mom even said that the girl somewhat resembles Sanaya! 😛 The boy who played young Rudra was also good. 😳

The scene where both come face to face with each other as youngsters is worth-watch according to me. <3 That was a really good scene. 😳 Especially the young Paro (Yeah, you can call me partial towards Tintin baby) 😆

What I did not like about the show- The language. 🤔 I don't know if I'm the only one who thinks so, but it was quite tough for me to understand some dialogues, but thank God Mumma was sitting beside me, and she narrated me the dialogues which I couldn't understand 😆

What I liked... No, what I loved about the show- Almost everything. Young Paro playing with butterfly was cute. <3 And damn, the title track seems to be too good! <3 <3 I'm waiting for someone in RR Forum to post the MP3 version of it asap! 😳 Also, how can I forget the narration given in between? 😳 That was kind of creating suspence 😆 But I liked it.😳

Though I didn't get the last scene 🤔 I couldn't understand what Rudra did and why! 🤔

Overall a good show, I'll try to catch it up this week atleast. 😳

And thank you for reading my pathetic review. 😳 🤣

P.S- Sanaya looks beautiful in Rajasthani outfit. *feels like flirting with her* 😆

Nice review .. not pathetic at all!!! 👏 Thanks for posting!

Young Paro and Rudra stole the show for me ... they were both amazing! Paro when she sees her parents' pyre being lit, choked me up ... and the boy playing Rudra was fantastic in portraying his angst and suppressed anger.

Title track ... amazing!!! The song is playing in my head, its so catchy!!!

Sanaya looked gorgeous ... so pretty and delicate ... like a little flower in the harsh desert.

The language ... I hope that they will try to keep the language Hindi, not much local dialect ... that's important for the viewers. Although the regional language makes it more authentic, but no point if viewers can't follow it! 😆
