Rang Rasiya

After Bigg Boss 7 gets over in December, the channel will fill the void with a new show, and the main attraction of the serial is going to be the vivacious Sanaya Irani, TV's most loved actress.

Colors is coming up with a new romantic show Rang Rasiya, starring Sanaya with Ashish Sharma of the Rab Se Sohna Isshq fame. The telly soap has already created buzz due to Sanaya's popularity, and why not? The actress looks beautiful as the bride in the promo.

After the super success of Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, Sanaya made a comeback with Sony's Chhanchhan, but the serial couldn't lure the audiences and went off air recently. Now, the actress is all set to woo her fans back with Rang Rasiya, which is said to be a passionate love story, set in Kutch.

Produced by Saurabh Tiwari of Nautanki Films, that is associated with hit shows like Madhubala - Ek Ishq Ek Junoon on Colors and Do Dil Ek Jaan on Life Ok, Rang Rasiya will narrate the story of an army man Rudra (Ashish Sharma) and a lovely girl Parvati (Sanaya Irani). Both of them have different ideologies of life; while the boy doesn't believe in love, the girl is a dyed-in-wool romantic.

The story will further narrate Rudra and Parvati's love-hate relationship and how they become lovers. Rang Rasiya is apparently also inspired from William Shakespeare's famous tragedy Othello.

The response to the promo of the show has been overwhelming, but will the audience shower their love on the lead pair of Rang Rasiya like they did to Sanaya and Barun Sobti in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?

Here's the moving promo of Rang Rasiya:

Colors to replace Bigg Boss with fiction

As the angels and demons from Bigg Boss 7 fly away, Colors brings love stories from Jaisalmer and Mumbai to fill in the vacuum.

Viacom18's Hindi general entertainment channel (GEC) Colors is all set to bid adieu to two of its biggest annual properties. While 24 ended its first season on December 21, Bigg Boss will telecast the last episode of its seventh season on December 28, Saturday.

Bigg Boss 7
Rangrasiya
BEINTEHAA

Bigg Boss, which was being telecast from Monday to Sunday at 9 pm, will be replaced by Beintehaa at 9 pm and Rangrasiya at 9.30 pm between Monday to Friday. On the weekends, the channel will bring its earlier talent hunt show, India's Got Talent, which will now be in its fifth season. Meanwhile, the channel's single telecast property Golden Petal Awards will also be telecast on Sunday, December 28.

It is interesting to note how the channel has been running limited episode fiction series in between two seasons of Bigg Boss. Between Seasons 6 and 7, there were shows like Sanskaar and Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuchh Kaha 2.

Meanwhile, for the vacuum which will be left by 24 on Fridays and Saturdays at 10 pm, the channel will extend its fiction properties Bani and Uttaran to be telecast till Saturday.

However, later in January, Comedy Nights With Kapil will be reinstated on Saturdays, as it was before the launch of the thriller series.

The upcoming shows are very dissimilar, both in treatment and content. While Rangrasiya is a dramatic story of love-passion-romance-betrayal, far away from marriage, Beintihaa, on the other hand, is a story of a couple post-marriage and their journey of discovering each other.

Prashant Bhatt, weekday programming head, Colors, explains the difference between the two, "The narrative style is very different. Content wise, the scene I have in Beintehaa will never work in Rangrasiya and the style that I have used in Rangrasiya will never work in Beintehaa. But the message is very clear that love overpowers all other things in life. Colors always gets into narrative style, be it social message or love stories but never at the cost of entertainment."

Rangrasiya is being produced by Nautanki Films (Saurabh Tewari and Abhinav Shukla), while Beintehaa is being produced by Fortune Productions (Farhan Salaruddin).

Tewari, who is making the second show for Colors after Madhubala, says that characterisation is the biggest strength of Rangrasiya. "The characters are grey and hence, very real. This is the first time a show is being made which will be walking on the edge. Either it will be accepted in the first four-five weeks or will be rejected completely. That's the level of experiment."

Bhatt agrees that the show is a risky proposition and quickly adds, "That's the biggest selling point. It's important to come out of the comfort zone, but it is a well calculated risk. We are betting on the thrill romance emotion drama combination."

The makers claim that this particular show will do many things that have not been seen on TV before, ignoring the dos and don'ts. The expectation is to get more male viewers on the show, 60:40 skewed towards males, 15-35 years of age.

The challenge in the show was the shorter timeline. Tewari adds, "We started shooting in September and we were on the floor on November 25. Ten episodes are already shot. When we returned from Jaisalmer, we had 56 hours of footage. We had shot on four film and three TV cameras." The latest offering of the production house is its most expensive show so far.

The biggest learning from Madhubala for the production house was that the audience doesn't have patience today. "The more you fool around the chances of show's failure are more. You need to tell the main story, the conflicts one after the other to keep audiences engaged."

Bhatt expresses hopes of longevity in the series but adds that the channel is all set not to stretch it unnecessarily.

Commenting on the marketing promotional strategy for the two shows, Rajesh Iyer, head, marketing, Colors, says, "The two shows will be promoted extensively across media including in-theatre integrations during Dhoom 3 in Hindi speaking markets (HSMs), OOH across 60 cities and towns, and a media mix comprising of over 40 channels and radio stations covering more than 40 cities. As the launch leads into the New Year, special calendars will be launched with select publications to enable audiences to bring their favourite characters home. To ensure that both shows continue to be the topic of dinner-table conversations, we have developed an all-round social media strategy exploring various avenues."

Sanaya Irani's Rang Rasiya' on Colors TV: Watch First Look Promo

By Salwa Mughal on November 20, 2013
Sanaya Irani's 'Rang Rasiya'

It's just a month more for the reality show Bigg Boss 7 to come to it's conclusion and there will be a space for a whole year to fill up.

Thus, comes up Sanaya irani's new romantic tv serial Rang Rasiya, along with Ashish Sharma. Sanaya Irani is most famously known for playng a role of Khushi Kumari Gupta' in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? while Ashish has played a role in Rab Se Sohna Isshq.

The serial is produced by Saurabh Tiwari of Nautanki Films. Ashish is playing an army man named Rudra' and Sanaya is playing a beautiful simple girl Parvati. Though it has a story which we're quite well aware of where a boy doesn't believes in love and girl thinks all about love and romance.

The story is also inspired by William Shakespeare's famous play Othello. Their is quite a lot of hype created about the show from the promo but it will be quite unclear to judge it at such initial stage.

Sanaya has also worked in TV Drama Chhanchhan' on Sony TV which could not get much success. What do you think will she be enough to make this one super hit?

Seeking inspiration

The promos of Sanaya Irani and Ashish Sharma's new show Rang Rasiya, which will soon on air on Colors, are out. Shot in Bikaner and Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, it has been garnering a lot of attention. Now buzz is that the plot of the show is inspired by Shakespeare's Othello. Army man Rudra (Ashish Sharma) does not believe in love and Parvati (Sanaya Irani) does; when they come together they share a passionate and aggressive love story.

Forum 32

The best place to discuss your favourite TV shows

Shows One Can Look Forward To on Television - A Forum 32 Opine!

by 2 Forum 32on November 21, 2013

<img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-4178" alt="Rang Rasiya" src="http://gorky1.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/safe_image.php_.jpg" width="400" height="300" />

Forum 32 round table discussions became pretty square with what type of shows have worked on Television. Bunny being the flirt of course said youth shows with romance and advocated channel like the erstwhile Star One and now Channel V. The new shows that are expected on Channel V with Sadda Haq - My Life, My Choice, Its Complicated, Paanch - Don't Get Mad, Get Even and Confessions of an Indian Teenager from 25th November with an all new V concept, has Bunny gung-ho about identifying with the characters in the show especially Paanch.

Care Khan was all praises for the upcoming show on Colors, Rang Rasiya as he loves the ruggedness of Rajasthan and yes, after Surbhi Jyoti, we may see some clandestine watching and hoarding pictures of Sanaya Irani from the show.

Vrushali, the photographer has been fascinated with Iqbal Khan and his face since his show Kaisa Yeh Pyaar Hai and finds his voice sexy and wants to explore the possibility of interviewing him, so yes, she is waiting to meet him again and cover the show, Tumhari Pakhi.

<img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-4179" alt="Tumhari Pakhi" src="http://gorky1.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/453200238_640.jpg" width="640" height="360" />

The "One who cannot be named" talked about all reality shows like Dance India Dance, Nach Baliye and Big Boss and was looking forward to Boogie Woogie (Obviously, the person who loves to make us dance to various tunes, would love all dance related shows! *rolling eyes*)

Then there is Kalki Avataar, who is the sanest person in our team yet has an eccentric need to watch drama and loves our show Qubool Hai, especially antics of Haseena Bi and we have wondered if the lack of drama in real life pushes Kalki to devour all the drama based shows like Balika Vadhu, Diya Aur Baati, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Pyaar Ka Dard Hai, Ek Mutthi Aasman. We as a team are trying to veer Kalki towards Saraswati Chandra, Jodha Akbar, Madhubala, Kehta Hai Dil... Jee Le Zara, Do Dil Ek Jaan and Ek Boond Ishq.

Yes, most of us on the team are die-hard romantics who fall for a good love story. Tell us what you like, a Drama, a Comedy (Yes, Comedy Nights with Kapil has its moments), Crime thriller like CID or Arjun - Har Yug Mein Aayega Ek, Romance, Youth based shows or Reality shows.

There is loads coming your way. What will make you stop channel surfing and watch a show? Lets discuss.
