Part 98

Khanak laid down on the bed for sonography, her heart rate rised up, nervous, excited all at the same time..She wanted to hold Shaan's hand, but he isn't there..At that moment a small hand holds her hand, she looks at the hand and at..It's Aayush! He smiled, Khanak let herself relax and holds his hand firmly..Madhvi stood beyond Aayush..Anjali stepped in..

Anjali smiled slowly looking at Khanak, Khanak's fingers of the other hand crossed..

Anjali: Relax Khanak! (That's the first time when she addressed Khanak like that, Khanak looked at her and sighed..)

Khanak: im ready!

Anjali applied jelly on Khanak's tummy, and the scanning machine on her tummy..Khanak was not ticklish, so she just layed down..Anjali showed a dot like thing on the screen to Madhvi, Madhvi smiled hugely, Aayush tried very hard to shut his mouth, but he couldn't..

Aayush: mom, kya woh baby hain?? (looking into the screen, still holding Khanak's hand)

Anjali made the device to turn, so that Khanak could see..Khanak smiled, tears brimmed in her eyes, letting it flow down..Aayush wiped her tears, Madhvi knew that why her bahu was crying..

Aayush: Mom, aap ro kyun rahi ho??

Khanak: kuch nahi Aayush (smiles) aap dekho..aur aap kuch nahi poochoge, did you get that??

Aayush agrees reluctantly..After finishing up all the tests, after all her precautions list, do's and don't's list, Khanak joins back to her duty, Aayush wants to stay with his mom. Madhvi leaves them and go..

Shaan calls her during lunch hour..

Shaan: Hey! Im sorry, couldn't come..(before he could continue)

Khanak: Shaan, main phone rakh rahi hun..

Shaan: (startled) kyun??

Khanak: aur nahi toh kya..kitni sorry bologe?

Shaan: ok! Doctor ne kya kaha??

Khanak: tumhare hothe hue, baby aur mujhe kuch ho saktha hai kya??

Shaan slowly smiled..

Khanak: Shaan are you on line?? Kya hua??

Shaan: Nothing Khanak..im fine..(tired, not that lively as he used to be)

Khanak: achcha abb kaha par ho?? Aayush aapse milna chahtha hain..(Aayush smiles at his mom)

Shaan: hmm..i'll see you both at home Khanak..

Khanak: Shaan..is everything alright?? (worried)

Shaan: im fine Khanak! Main ghar aakar baat kartaun..

Khanak: ok..(they cut the call)

Both wanting each other just in front of them, so that, he could throw his frustration out and she could show her excitement..But now, her excitement had come down, she knew something was eating him up and she was sure that, when he'll be seeing her reports he'll be all fine..She smiles at one end and he sits back on his chair, hand on his head..

He had a bad day, though it was not his fault, he was humiliated in front of people, he stood bearing all those words from a mother who lost her kid..Doctors are praised at the same time we will have to face a situation in which we will be humiliated..We can't help that, we have to be prepared to take both positive and negative things about us..Some treat us like gods and some treat us like we are the destroyers of their life..He thinks, tries to calm his mind while he drives back home..Well now he can concentrate on his family! He, her, Aayush and..Slow smile creeped on his face..

He stepped in his room, he saw mother and son engrossed in some work..he wondered..

Shaan: hey guys..(smiles)

Both of them turn around, Aayush shuts the laptop suddenly, and both of them smile at him at the sametime..Shaan finds that weird..

Shaan: ok..

Aayush: papa aap aagaye..chalo main chaltha hun..Good night mom, good night papa..(before they could even wish him, he runs from there)

Shaan looks exhausted, he seats on the couch, leans back and closes his eyes..Khanak silently walk to him, sits next to him, he opens his eyes and finds her next to him, he slightly smiles, she holds his hand..

Khanak: Kya hua??

Shaan: koi serious problem nahi hain Khanak..i just…we lost a kid and the mother yelled at him in front of all people..(lost in the sense the kid died)

She knew this was common, she knew at this situation every person would take time to recover..

Shaan: (looks at her worried face and changes the topic) achcha yeh batau, meri baby kaisi hain?? (places his right palm on her tummy)

Khanak: (she wants to remove from his hospital to their life) Ek second..(She goes to the drawer and brings her file, which held her sonography pictures of their baby)

She hands him with a huge smile..and sits next to him, he takes the file from her, he opens it..

First its her reports and then..which he wanted to see, which he wanted to feel, at the same he felt guilty too..

He opens his mouth to say something, finds her searching something in cupboard..He didn't have any idea when she got up ..

Shaan: Khanak kya doond rahi ho??

Before he knows she gets back, she's got her steth with her, Shaan wonders..She sits next to him, she makes him wear the ear tip in his ears and keeps the bell of the diaphragm on her bare tummy(back part of the chest piece, the whole chest piece is called diaphragm)

Shaan: kya kar rahi ho Khanak?? (she keeps her finger on her lips telling him to be quiet)

Slowly hos face breaks into huge smile, tears well up in his eyes too..he heard his baby's heartbeat..And in the next moment, he found himself in her arms, he had hugged her and she had welcomed him with all her happiness..Both of them flying somewhere high above the sky..Night ahd faded away..

He and She were back to the hospital together in the morning after leaving Aayush..Aman meets them, pleasant exchanges take between him and Shaan..And suddenly..

Aman: So Khanak how was your first prenatal visit?? (casual)

Khanak: hmm..(not expecting, looks at Shaan =, as though she was asking like did you tell him? Shaan shrugs as though he head her..she turns back to Aman) yeah..it was good..

Khanak: I guess I will leave now..(bids bye to both of them)

Shaan: (turns to Aman) How did you know??

Aman: kya?? Voh about the prenatal visit? Anjali ne bataya.. (walking along the corridors)

Shaan: anjali?? (stops walking)

Aman: yeah..kyun tujhe nahi pata that Anjali is the gynac doctor..sunn, will meet you in the eve for clinical trial discussion..(leaves from there)

Shaan couldn't believe what he heard..but why did Khanak didn't tell him?? He's furious now..just why didn't she??

He finds her taking rounds with the students, teaching them at the same time..She was best at her profession, and there was no compromisein her duties..She would give her best and there was no doubt..

She enters his cabin after about 1 hour…she found him sitting with his paper work and was getting ready to a surgery..

Khanak: hey! (asusually, sits on one of the chairs)

Shaan: how are you??

Khanak: im fine! Just the morning sickness..(feeling giddy)

Shaan: why didn't you tell me?? (looking directly into her eyes)

Khanak: what? (eyes shot open)

Shaan: that Anjali is your doctor..

Now she knows that he's furious..

Khanak: Shaan voh..(stutters, he gets uo from his seat, she too gets up)

Shaan: I want you to change your doctor Khanak! (orders)

Khanak: lekin Shaan, she's good! (not ready to give up either)

Shaan: main kuch nahi sunna chahtha Khanak! You're changing your doctor that's it! (a bit louder)

Khanak's eyes well up, he wouldn't listen..he leaves and just when he opens the door of his cabin, he get the shock of his life..Its Kiya!

Shaan turns around and looks at Khanak, she's looking at him with tears in her eyes..his hand forms into a fist, he shuts the door and leaves from his cabin..

Loved it so much!!! The way Aayush holded Khanak's hand during her sonography was so touching..Shaan's trial still need to get some progression..Hope he and Aman succeed soon!!!

Wow!!! The way Khanak made Shaan to hear their baby's heartbeat was super cute..😃 Absoultely unique..👏 Loved it!!!

Finally Shaan came to know that Dr.Anjali is her doctor through Aman..Nice touch!!!He is so angry and want her to change her doctor immediately!!! Understandable!!!

What is Kiya doing there???😡

Part 99

Khanak is feeling worst, her morning sickness is turning out to be a pain..pain? well it was not like any other morning, she's stressed..Khanak did see Kiya, but Khanak had too much in her plate to even think about Kiya..Khanak didn't care..She knocks on Anjali's cabin door, and opens..Finds Kiya sitting with Anjali…

Khanak: God! (wants to scream it out loud, but doesn't) Anjali can I come in?

Anjali: Sure Kha..i mean Dr. Khanak!

Khanak: Now, im your patient Khanak..

Anjali stands up when Khanak enters, while Kiya sits and looks at Khanak with a smile, seeing it, Khanak doesn't have a good feeling about her..Khanak twitches her lips and shiftes her attention to Anjali..

Khanak: I wanted to talk..do you have a minute??

Anjali: Sure..First you sit!

Khanak: Thanks..(After that she waits for Kiya to move out, but Kiya wouldn't move..Anjali takes her seat..)

Kiya: hi Khanak! (that look!)

Khanak: Hi!

Anjali: Kiya, now you go, I'll talk to you later..

That was like as though, she heard what Khanak wished in her mind, Khanak smiled while Kiya frowned..

Kiya: but di..

Anjali: maine kaha na, hum baad main baat karenge..

Kiya reluctantly agrees to leave, gets up and leaves, Khanak is back to herself..

Anjali: kya hua Khanak??

Khanak: ha! My morning sickness..its getting worser, im not able to stand for an hour also, and today I vomited out everything, im not able to take anything, im feeling giddy too, I know taking any tablets at this time is not that good, but still.. (Anjali listens to her carefully, gets up and holds Khanak's right hand for pulse, while Khanak goes on, Anjali uses her steth too, Khanak stops talking, after checking)

Anjali: Khanak chill! I guess you've stressed yourself..you need rest, take off and go home..And you'll be alright! (smiles)

Khanak: Are you sure?? You know, my duty timings is not over yet..

Anjali: Khanak you need to sleep, and stop thinking, you are all fine and even your baby! Agar tumhe mujhe par barosa nahi hain, toh phir..

Khanak: oh no! Nothing like that..(smiles) May be you're right! May be I need mom's lap and some good stories for my baby! My baby is already frustrated with my duty! (jokes)

Though it makes Anjali chuckles..

Anjali: Khanak, can I ask you something…

Khanak: Sure..

Anjali: Does Shaan know..(before she could complete)

Khanak: yes! He knows! (nods)

Anjali: and he's ok with it??

Khanak: Anjali, I don't want to lie..for now, he's not liking the fact, and he wants me to change my doctor, I don't know who told about our conversations to him..i just know that he's furious with you and me also!

Anjali: I was the one who told about our conversation..You know..At first, when I saw you both that came to my mind was…jealousy..you and him..You people make a perfect couple! I wish mera aur Aman ka rishtha bhi aisa hi hotha..and second when I knew that Shaan was first love of Kiya..It bubbled up the emotions within me..I didn't know what I was talking..i am a human being! We are intended to make mistakes! And im really sorry for uttering those shit in front of you.. I..

Khanak: That's fine Anjali..being evil was not bad..(smiles and winks)

Anjali smiles..

Khanak: Chalo main chalthi hun, if im early to home, Aayush will be thrilled!

Khanak gets up, and walks up to the door and turns back to Anjali, Anjali looks on..

Khanak: I wanted to ask something..What is Kiya doing here??

Anjali's face loses the smile, not sure how she has to state that..Khanak waited..

Shaan comes out of his surgery, all smiles, their first case of their trial was successful..Actually not successful, their first part was successful..If the kid could survive the post-operative medications, then this will be their first successful case in the trial! Shaan wants to speak to Khanak..

Shaan wanted to ask sorry, he shouldn't have yelled..he regret his actions..he could have been softer too..But since he and Aman had to look at the further medications, he was busy..

Finally he got time in the evening, he knew she would have left, but she wouldn't pick up…

Shaan: I guess she's angry! (twitches his lips)

Finds Raj in the hallway…They speak casually..

Raj: Khanak ko kya hua? She left early I guess..

Shaan: kya??

Raj: yeah..i saw her going into Anjali's cabin, after that I got to know that she had left..

Shaan: Are you sure??

Raj: yeah..woh chod..tell me, where should be the marriage held?

Shaan: (he worries for her) Kiska marriage?

Raj: dude! Mera!

Shaan: oh! Raj..wherever you find comfortable..Sunn, main baad main milta hun!

Before Raj could bid bye, Shaan moves from there..Tries calling her, but still she doesn't pick up..

He finds Anjali, Kiya and Aman talking..Aman smiles at Shaan, Shaan doesn't acknowledge..

Shaan: What happened to Khanak?? (to Anjali)

Anjali: Khanak? Nothing! Why? What happened??

Shaan: She met you in the morning right?

Anjali: yeah..her morning sickness had increased today, she told that she vomited too, I just told her to take rest..She was stressed I guess..she needed some sleep, that's what I suggested her! (she shrugged, she was confident)

Aman: Shaan..sab teek hain na?? Where's Khanak??

Shaan: I don't know..,may be I should head home now..Thanks! (to Anjali)

Anjali: That's my duty! She's my patient plus..(not able to utter friend from her mouth) colleague too..

Aman: Shaan, don't worry Khanak will be fine..

Shaan: (sighs) I hope so..Ok..i'll take a leave now..

Kiya: hey Shaan!

Shaan: later Kiya, I have to go look at my wife! (firm and then he leaves)

When he reaches home he gets to know that she's not in home, in fact, none of them were home..His mom, dad, bhabhi, Aayush and Khanak.. Servants only knew that they had gone out..

She was not feeling well, top to that now she's gone out? Why can't she just think about herself? God! He sat on the living room's couch with hands on his head..He once again picks his cell to try her number..

At that moment, he hears her laughter with Khushboo bhabhi's laughter too..They were followed by Akshay, Sunil, Aayush, Madhvi and dadi..

Khanak: Shaan! (smiles hugely)

Shaan just looks, tries to smile..She goes and stands next to him, Aayush is happy to see his papa too, he hugs him..

Shaan: Aap sab log kaha the??

Aayush: Actually papa, I've got a project work I had wanted some electronic items, toh maine mom se poocha..Mom ne kaha we'll go to museum..

Khushboo: Shaan..i must say that was a brilliant idea, we enjoyed a lot..

Aayush: aur woh 3D film..

Sunil: haan beta, aaj humne bahut masti kiya..

Akshay: Shaan agar hume pata hotha tum itni jaldi aane wale ho, then we would have waited for you..

Madhvi: haan beta..tumne kuch khaya?? You look so tired..

Sunil: Shaan you know, you don't have to over work..rest le lo beta..

Shaan: Mom, dad im fine! I'll just freshen up..(and he leaves from there)

Everyone gets indulged with what they bought at museum, and about Aayush's project..main responsibility is taken by Sunil and Akshay..

Akshay starts to read the instructions out..while Khanak goes to her room, to check on Shaan..

Khanak: Shaan..

Nope! There's no reply, she checks in the bathroom, he is not there, she wonders, and sees that balcony door is opened, there he is standing, facing the sky, is talking into phone..He sounds anxious, worried, sad..She knew there was something wrong now..He cuts the call, Khanak wants to ask, but thinks its not the perfect time..she just stood, not leaving him alone, neither talking to him..After sometime, he cuts the call..He knows that she's behind him, but wants her to start the conversation..His frustration had built up by now..the kid couldn't survive..

When we are very close to our goal, and when we expect that we will be having it on our hands at any moment, the feeling is ecstatic..But the moment we know, we are not at all close to our goal..it hurts! It hurts to a point that..we try to harm ourselves physically..But the hurt caused emotionally is tremendous..The best thing was to let it out or at sometimes to take our frustration out..It wouldn't be easy for us..to yell, to break something, looking into the shattered pieces and finding ourselves in that place..We are not complete as a person..we make mistakes easily, we ask sorry easily, we hurt some one's feelings..knowing or without knowing..

Shaan knew that he'll be facing failures during the trial..but still he couldn't help..

Shaan: Now..you also wouldn't want to talk to me..

Khanak: What??

The same consequences were back in their life..She was again at a place, which she couldn't help either..

He turned slowly, his eyes told that he needed someone to hold, but she also knew that he wouldn't break down easily..Befor she could take a control over that..

Shaan: why did you have to go out?? (he deliberately diverted his attention completely..or so he thought)

Khanak: Aayush ne bataya na..that he wanted (not able to continue, confused by his question)

Shaan: I know that Khanak! Main chala jatha Aayush ke saath, why did you have to go out??

Khanak: (she's pissed now) Ek minute Shaan..(controls herself) What do you mean??

Shaan: you were not feeling well Khanak..why did you have to go..

Khanak: who told you that im not fine? Im all fine Shaan..when I came back from hospital I took a nap..uske baad hi hum sab museum ke liye nikhle the..

Shaan: Why didn't you receive my phone?

Khanak: phone?? (wonders) Oh ya..its with Aayush, I guess its in silent mood..

Shaan: seedhe seedhe kyun nahi kehthi Khanak..that you didn't wanted to talk to me..

Khanak: Shaan! Where are you taking this?? Why wouldn't I be not talking to you??

He kept silent, even he didn't know where he was taking this..he stood there..

Khanak: (she calmed herself and walked near him) I know there's some problem going on..and im sure its not about us..speak it out Shaan..changing the topic wouldn't help..(softly)

Shaan still just stood, he didn't want her to stress herself more about him..Already Anjali told him that, she was stressed…At this time it was not right to stress for her..

Shaan: sorry..i guess I was…

Khanak: Shaan! Don't change the topic..spit it out!

Shaan: I don't know what's wrong Khanak..the trial..its going down the graph..when we think we are too near to success and at the next moment..(shakes his head)

In the next moment he finds himself in her arms, she had engulfed him, he encloses his arm around her..

Khanak: don't worry everything will be fine..im sure, you'll succeed at some point..trust me that day, I'll be the happiest than anyone in the whole world!

He slowly smiled in her arms..he didn't want her to let go..he didn't realize that she was standing on her toes..they stood like that for few minutes, when she knew that she won't be able to stand like that..

Khanak: Shaan..my legs (before she could continue, he lifts her up completely but not wanting to let go of her, she smiled..

After sometime, they came down, Khanak was literally shocked when she saw the living room a complete mess, Akshay was reading the instructions, Sunil was trying to align it..Aayush just added up to the mess..Shaan chuckled..Khanak glared at him, Shaan shrugged and smiled..

Shaan: Dad..what's all this??

Sunil: Shaan tum agaye..Khanak beta mujhe lagtha hain iss me kuch missing hain..

Khanak: Dad.. nothing is missing..what are you people trying to do..

Sunil explains his version, Akshay explains his version, Aayush his version..all at the same time..Khanak is fully confused, Shaan tries to listen too, but all sounded like greel and latin to him..

Khanak: ek minute..Dad, bhaiyya aap log utiye..

They got up blaming each other for the mistakes, Shaan gives a mocking look at them and looks at Khanak, she takes about few minutes to completely read the instruction, and without anyone's help she finishes it completely within 15 minutes..

Khana: done!

Sunil: arrey waah beta..hum kabse karne ki koshish kar rahe the lekin nahi ho raha tha, tumne toh aasani se kardali..(impressed)

Akshay: sach main Khanak, that looks too good..

Aayush: mom! You're the best..(hugs her, she hugs him back)

Khanak: abb bahut ho gaya..abb sab chalo dinner karthe hain..

Aayush, Sunil, Akshay leaves from there to the dining table, she looks for support to stand up..and there appears one hand, she smiles , holds the hand and gets up..

Shaan: I never knew that, you liked physics too??

Khanak: nah! I loved only the experimental part.theory bugged me! (makes a face..he chuckles)

Both walked to the dining area joining the family for dinner..

Next morning brought lots of changes..like..

Shaan: Hey! (to Aman) kya hua? Aaj subah hi bhula liya?

Aman: ha! Since the trial is going down the graph, I wanted to add people in our group..you wouldn't mind right??

Shaan: oh no! and I completely agree to this idea..

They both were in Aman's cabin..

Aman: ok then..(there enters Anjali followed by Kiya)

Shaan is shocked to see Kiya over there..he hopes for the best, he would never wish to work with her..

Kiya: hi Shaan..(smiles)

Shaan nods..

Anjali: She didn't come??

Shaan: woah! Ek minute..that means..

Aman: yeah Shaan..Kiya and Anjali are joining us..and..

There enters Khanak panting..Kiya's smile disappears..while Aman and Anjali smiles at the new member of the group..

Khanak: sorry im late..(in between her breaths)

Shaan: Khanak! (surprised) did you run??

Khanak looks at him, she stutters..

Khanak: no! kisne kaha that I ran..actually kya hain na..aaj kale k floor bhi chadlo toh bhi breathless ho jathi hun..

He's about to ask something else also, but Khanak stops him..

Khanak: who sab chodo..what's my part of the job?? (looking at Aman and Shaan)

Shaan has no idea what she's talking..
