CHAPTER 24
The Next Day
They left early morning for London. There was a long silence in the car. No one felt like discussing the last night's issue. But after some time Shantanu broke the silence with
Look I am Sorry for everything. From the blunder that happened in office to what I did last night. I didn't mean to hurt you. But I would also say that the blunder that happened in office I wasn't aware of it. And then Last night the thing that happened, I was obligated to do that.
She gave me a 'Are you serious Look'. By doing that you actually thought I would stop in my way.
He looked at her
See I really could not think of anything else. The way you started walking off, your feet were not ready to stop. And besides it was unknown city for you.
He didn't say a word after learning her unwillingness to get indoctrinated by him. Their rest of the journey was a long one as no one spoke a word after that.
In office
Despite all the cans of worms between them they visited the office regularly with not even a trace of dispute on their faces.
He didn't stay in his cabin for more time due to lack of the courage to face her whereas on the other hand she remained in her room for staying aloof. Whole day passed with the same exemplification.
Their averting behavior towards each other was more than enough for Shruti to sense the agitation among them.
Next day
Shruti was somehow sure that she will find Khanak in her cabin after the recapitulation of the demeanor she displayed.
Shruti entered with pursed lips closing the door behind her making sure no one would barge in which was for Shantanu especially. The sound of the closing door broke Khanak's intentness making her eye at the direction of the sound. Khanak was shocked to see her as she never expected Shruti to come and talk to her. She stood there looking at Khanak with a look of asking for permission. Khanak was in a perplexed state.
Are you free Khanak? I wanted to have a word with you.
Yeah go on. I am not busy Khanak blurted out confidently when she heard Shruti's formal request.
Hi. How are you?
I am good. How about u?
I am good too. She nodded her head in a slight movement.
So how's work going? She said with biting lips.

Ok I think you need to know this. That day Shantanu had asked me to discuss the issue with you before the meeting started but then I didn't do it.
Khanak narrowed her eyes in a 'why??' I mean why would you do that.
Look that day I was having a meeting before and so I completely forgot about it and Shantanu assumed that you had a prior knowledge about the matter to be discussed.
And slowly all the pictures of that day started emerging in front of her eyes. She found a reason for his losing his mind at her that day. But then you could have informed me about this during the time we three were in the meeting room.
Yeah I had thought about it. But then later I realized it would be a good plan if you guys visit Mr. Russel all alone and might have got some time to spend. Swerving away as thought not having audacity to face the female who stood there regretting what she did to Shantanu.
Why you wanted that?
Khanak just some time earlier to the meeting me and Shantanu, we were discussing about you. She abruptly came near Khanak with pleading eyes. He loves you Khanak. He loves you a lot. I had never seen him like this. He never was so serious about any damn girl in his entire life. Shantanu never wanted me to tell you that he loves you but I think I should tell because he can't stay without you. You are the only girl he can always be happy with. And he didn't know about the fact that I had purposely kept it hidden from you so that he is forced to take you along. She slowly trudged near the window and now it's your wish whether to forgive him or not. I won't say love him back but I would definitely say that if you don't accept him you will lose a person who loved you more than him because there is not a single man on this earth who would live a life of celibate just so that he gets to stay with his love forever.
Khanak had tears trickling down her eyes. After noticing that Shruti went near her and placed a consoling hand on her shoulder I know Khanak what all you have faced. But these incidents don't stop your life no? And I am sure Saaket must be very happy somewhere that you are in responsible hands. Trust me Khanak Shantanu is a nice person. On hearing this Khanak looked upwards to the ceiling and then went towards the window as though remembering something. She thought about all the past moments and felt sorry for the persecution she did to him. She was reminded about all the things Shantanu did for her till now. Right now the only thing she could think of doing was meeting and confessing about the feelings she had for him. She blinked with her feet pointing towards the door at Shruti as though asking for the permission to leave. Shruti signed her with her hand gestures which directed towards the door.
In the meeting room
Shantanu was busy in one of the meetings. Khanak got the knowledge of his whereabouts from the receptionist.
When will the meeting get over? Khanak asked with wide eyes which looked shrunk due to continuous flow of water from it .
Ma'am It has just started it will take around 1 more hour. With politeness in her tone the receptionist told. Ma'am Please have a seat. She requested.
The continuous disturbance in the reception area was a distraction for Shantanu who finally put a glimpse in that direction and found her standing there in a way that presented her alertness to make a quick move anytime she was told to.
He stirred for a moment which was not unnoticed by her by the way he dropped the files in his hand. After great efforts of fighting with his emotions he called off for the meeting.
Finding the right chance she entered in the cabin.
What happened ? All is fine? He hit the conversation.
Nothing is fine With firmness
Shantanu couldn't understand what's wrong. Wh…why? I mean what happ…
She nudged in between. I love you Shantanu. I don't know how it happened. But yes I love you. She said looking straight into his eyes which was a rare sight for him. He had never seen her with so much of constancy. I know now you might not be ready to accept me after what all I did to you. The way I blamed you always, But I needed to tell because I don't know if I can gather the courage to tell this to you ever in my life. She had slowed down her motion. After waiting for some time she started to leave when he abruptly held her hand and got her near to him. I love you to Khanak. And I m really sorry to hurt you whenever I did. He got her close embracing her in his arms showering the love she was accredited to. They stood there as tough the calamity had been absconded.
At home
That was the first time ever they entered home as a married couple. She cooked food for them. He helped her in the small errands as a reason to spend time with her. They had dinner together chitchatting away for hours together. Khanak after some time realized it had been long time they were finished eating, just sitting doing nothing. She asked him to go ahead for his sleep and proposed him a need of getting the granite cleaned which was bunched with plenty of utensils that she had used.
You go ahead I will see you in sometime. I need to clear up the kitchen.
Oh this. You alone will take long time. Let me help you. He said.
No that's ok. I will manage. With a ludicrous smile on her face.
Why what happened ? I can do it ok. He was firm.

The way he carried out the task was the attestation that he was well-off with utensils.

Yeah Kind of. When I was small I prepared variety of dishes.

She smiled and continued with the task she was into.
In room
After all was done they both left for their respective rooms. He walked past her room. Khanak noticed it and stopped in the way eyeing him.
