CHAPTER 22

Next day as usual they went together, both not making it obvious about the predicament they shared.

In office

Not waiting for her to follow him he drilled towards his cabin. She had expected this behavior of his, in fact knew that this was the calmness before a storm. But she chose to be stubborn on her counterclaim. She had not seen all sides of him nor did she know what his next step was going to be. He decided to go gradually in his mission.

After sometime she entered the room taking her seat. She spotted him continuously staring her, of course adoring her, but there was a need of talking some sense into her, he thought. Pretending to be busy he opened a file and started reading something. Her heart beats increased seeing him walking towards her.

Putting the file on her table he leaned so that his face was at the level of hers. He deliberately moved closer to her, showing seriousness on his face. Did you read the whole file? Knowing that she had indeed.

Yes ..why? seriously she responded.

Can you tell me where is it mentioned that the land we are concerned about, it belongs to Mr. Russel?

She tried to look into the file flipping off the pages one by one. And the moment she found it, moved the index finger on that line. He purposely at the same time placed his hand on the other of hers which held the file. Touching her hand ,pretending to be completely engrossed in the action. He could see the nervousness on her face , that he felt when she was near him. She tried to take away which he noticed and was happy to catch the sight that proved her words of last night. This time he moved away not without the expressions that dint show his victory. She was bland faced as to why he did that then. He left the place without the file which was actually the work, that was more than enough for her to guess that it was a trap that he followed to get the clue from her about her feelings for him.

She had already sensed about the problem she was going to face now. More of a problem it was as she had lied to him that she does not feel the same as he does. In next coming days it was a challenge for him.

He talked about this to Shruti knowing that she would seriously help him out in the issue. He explained all the things and sensed that Shruti who was an independent girl who was always serious about her aims and made sure that she gets what she wants. Who was not at all emotional with an ounce of emotion in her was suddenly amazed when she got to know that her friend is in love with his wife which was quite funny to hear in the beginning.

The next day a meeting was called which was not preplanned. In the board room all were present. The entire emanation seemed tensed. All were very vigorous in their acts. People sat with the notepads and pens to jot down the points.

They were all discussing the issue of Mr.Russel , the file which Khanak had read and knew everything about.

Shantanu started the meeting with a serious face So guys as all of us know Mr. Russels project is been on a halt even though the file was completely fine and read by Mrs Khanak Khandelwal stressing on the word Mrs. It got goose bumps on her body. It was well noticed by him.

Khanak forgathered herself and tried to place her point which explained that there was a strong proof that said that the property belonged to Mr. Russel . She continuously said that and Shantanu to her disappointment contradicted. After a long discussion of half an hour all peoples except Shruti, Khanak and him were made to leave the meeting room. The moment all left she looked at him with anger after hesitating initially because of the presence of his friend.

How could you do that ? in the morning itself I had shown you the file and you had also seen with your eyes that what I was saying was right Mr. Russel was owning the land in the 16 th number lane park. She said with stubbornness in her attitude.

Oh So This is what happens when you are not paying attention in the meeting. Shantanu responded. We are not talking about that land Mrs. Khanak ,we are talking about the new Shopping mall that is going to be built at South Park in the New lawns. With ratification.

All Khanak could do was just stare at his face knowing that yes she was wrong this time.

Shantanu continued Well this is a very shameful thing for our company and we need to visit Mr Russel and discuss the whole issue so as to make sure that we keep up with the reputation and again it is not put on a risk to lose because of someone's silly mistake.

Hearing this Khanak felt very ashamed and hurt as to how could he do this to her. But she dint have any idea why she felt so as she wasn't into him.

The Next day was it to visit Mr Russel to the nearby town. Both left for the trip a rugged acrimony on her face.

They had a face to face talk in which it was cleared about the fact that was in favor of Khanak. After she was aware of it her blood started boiling with fury.

Oh My God how could he do that? How could he just change the statement against me? She eyed Shantanu with displeasure which was obviously noticed by him. She left the room without thinking the reaction from the other side as though her whole life depended on it.

Shantanu followed her to the gate and called out her name Khanak Khanak ..listen to me.

His words were overheard and still her sleek figure kept diminishing slowly. She walked past their car on the street as though her legs understood her emotions. He hurried towards her driving the car as though the engines it possessed were aircraft's, screaming out loud her name Khanak Khanak !!Wait

His cry was went in vein. She kept moving ahead.

Khanak Wait!! Cant you hear me?

Of Course I do but I chose to ignore. Because I don't think it's necessary to listen to you.

For god sake woman stop acting dumb.

Mr. Shantanu Khandelwal she bellowed. You have no right to say that to me. The fact that you can't take care of what happens around you , that too in the company remains the reason for my this dumbness here stressing on the word dumbness. Now please stop following me.

That was enough for him to lose his temper which he never had thought encountered. And he did a thing he dint even think he will ever do, he went near her grabbing her hand and pulling her towards the car which she couldn't oppose as she was scared to death seeing the sight he presented. He opened the door of the car and placed her in. she was dumbstruck with that face looking at him walking to the other side of the car. He entered his seat not without a showing his anger in that too by banging the door closing it.

I am not going anywhere with you With the conniption fit in her eyes.

He looked at her with a ludicrous look on his face thinking how can this girl still have the audacity to say that. And that look was suddenly changed to furious ones.

Now once and for all shutup girl and if you don't I swear you dont want to see what I can do. He blurted out.

Oh really!! What will you do Mr. Shantanu? You cant force yourself o….

Her mouth was kept shut by his. He held her face between his hands smooching her hard on her lips with his. It was the penalty he was talking about which certainly wasn't a light one. She kept struggling to get away from his strong hold which he wasn't ready to leave so easily.

Leave….. m…u…. jerk!! She managed to speak out. But still wasn't freed by him. Her hands tried to push him away hastily tears rolling down her cheeks due to the pain caused. He tasted the salty water on her lips which was the moment he left her slowly. Still eyeing her in fury as if their eyes exchanged the talks that this is what you will get again if you don't listen to me.
