CHAPTER 23
The moment he felt those salty specks on her lips he left her. She was not in a state to surmise the thing that happened sometime ago. On seeing the tears in her eyes he felt despondent for what he did to her but that was immediately transformed to fury just to let her remain in his compliance which obviously was completely opposite to the flood of emotions he had in his heart for her.
He once looked fiercely at her and started driving without having a second doubt that she will stay in the car with a cold body. The journey back was of about more than 3 hours and it already was late for them to leave. After the long argument they had Khanak fell asleep with still the moist eyes.
Shantanu once looked at her just to check on her and felt bad for the whole thing especially the vigorous kiss. A single tear drop rolled down his face showing the hurt he felt for his deed. Time past by in nocturnal silence. They were caught by rains and that too raucous one. He thought it was better idea to stop somewhere rather than to keep driving because he already was too accentuated to go ahead continuing the job. They were somewhere near Newcastle that was around 200kms away from their destination. He pulled up the car in one of the bungalows he owned. On feeling the sudden blow off Khanak rolled out from her sleep. She took some time to realize that it was not the usual place she sees. She tried to discern the sight. She realized Shantanu was not around. For a moment she thought that did he actually leave her for persecution, and the area also was not known to her. The rain had become more acute by now. It was beyond the bounds of possibility to sit there in the car as she was scared of dark. Getting out of the car itself was a substantial task for her being alone. Chanting gods name she got out when suddenly she was pulled back. Her heartbeats were on the double not even able to utter a word out of her mouth as it was inky cold leaving her teeth chatter. But her hands did the job of saving herself from the person she thought was a stranger. Due to the heavy rains she couldn't even see properly pushing him away.

She relaxed after hearing that because her prior panic was due to murky darkness. All those flashbacks which happened in the car between them were brought in front of her eyes. A wave of palpitation fluctuated inside her on the very thought of it getting repeated and did as he said. She entered and followed one of the rooms he led.

He made coffee for two which also is better to warm her up. Being madly in love with her there wasn't a single moment he dint think about her. He moved with the coffee cups to the room.
In the room
He entered the room without knocking as his hands were already taken by the cups. The moment he stepped in he was losing his balance as the sight was way too stunning to not to hold him straight. She was standing in front of the mirror wearing the night dress that she found there. Looking at the nightdress it was certain that Khushboo must have stayed there the last time it was visited.
As his movements were very silent in order to not to be a disturbance if she was sleeping, she dint realize him entering the room. He placed the cups on the table and helped her who was having trouble with the strings on the back of the dress. He couldn't stop himself from advancing. He slowly took the string in his hand brushing her hand in the process. Seeing him too close Khanak got scared but dint say anything fearing that he might again get angry and do that she was most afraid of. Feeling his hands on the bare back was like an electric current moving through her. She managed to stay still. He could hear her breaths going on a long ride. (Her wet hair was an open invitation for feeling them)He thought. He went ahead tied the string and whisked away the trickle on her back with the index finger gently traversing the neck line from the ear lobule to the shoulder joint. He was feeling with his eyes closed. She didn't counter back due to the apprehension of let him impose his affirmations. Thought this was the reason she didn't want him to come close, now it was different. She in reality wasn't feeling that pinch of irk for the thing happening between them. He came closer but there was no repulsion from her side. His hands moved from her shoulder down to her arm following the palm which she grabbed too. Still there was not a single opposition. He thought (That's It. Now I have the proof as to she loves me too as much as I do).
He held her face between his palms which she equally responded by clutching his collar. It was her this time bringing her lips closer to his. And the moment she would do it he blurted out. I know you love me too. Now you have to accept it.
On hearing this she came into the senses and opened her eyes wide thinking what she was about to do (Oh my god what I m just about to do?).
Immediately removing her hands she took them to herself.
Say Khanak you love. Now you are not drunk also. You can't run away from the situation today.
NO..she said with a confused look as though it will prove her apocryphal thinking.

Then realizing that it was him actually who was at fault by not listening to her in the conference room and all. In the process of confession he had really hurt her. And then the iniquitous thing that just happened amidst them was also one more reason that he stepped aside letting her go near the window and left the room.
