The large arena was teaming with people from all walks of life gathered to witness the entertainment. There were brave knights, soldiers, noblemen and their ladies, court jesters in their colorful costumes and the Sheriff was there with his wicked son and his cronies sitting up in the stands laughing and clapping each other on the back... The Sheriff had already taken control of KIng Richard's court while he was away at war, and was making plans for a coup so that he could somehow usurp his crown.

The people already hated him for he had increased their taxes and if they didn't pay up, he took away their lands. He had taken many of the nobles prisoner under false pretenses, just like KM's dad and frequently tortured them severely in public so that nobody dared to raise their voices against him.

KM, SR and Dharam scanned the crowd and soon spotted KM's dad standing with the other prisoners. He was standing with his arms tied behind his back and his feet shackled in chains. His entire body was slumped forward, it seemed as in defeat..and he had such a look of anguish and misery on his face that KM let out a strangled gasp and would have run out to him had not SR caught her arms and held her back..

SR ( in aloud whisper)..do you want to get yourself and yr father killed?..Kya tum Pagla gayi ho?...

KM who could not bear to see her father's in this state..struggled in his grasp...Look what they have done to him...he who has never bowed in front of anyone except the King, now reduced to this!!..Noooo...mujhe jaane do..I have to meet him!!..

SR grasped KM by the waist and turned her around forcibly...pulled her close to him and bending his head down toward her said..Girl!! Do I look like a fool to you?? Maybe I was one ,trying to help you despite the considerable danger to myself!!..Mein samajh sakta hoon tum par kya beet rahi hai.. Magar thande dimaag se zaraa socho!! You cannot help him like this..the Sheriff will never let you go if he discovers you now..!

KM for the first time frightened and shaken by SR's behavior..Then what do you want me to do??

SR: Listen to me..you have told me abt your remarkable archery skills..maybe you can take part and win in the contest and demand your father as your price!!..

KM relaxed right away and looked at SR in admiration ..Haan yeh tumne pate ki baat kahi hai...I am as good as any body in the kingdom if not one of the best..Yes, I will take my chances..and she smiled proudly.

SR's face softened and he lifted her chin gently with his hand...don't be too daring my little one, you are too innocent to know the ways of this world...

KM gave him a puzzled smile..I will be careful..and strode away towards the field where the archery event was about to start..

Dharam sidled upto to SR and whispered..Sirji!!..why did you let her go alone..you know its dangerous, she may get caught!..

SR looking after KM with a worried look on his face..I can't stop her from doing what she wants to do!!...I won't be selfish and hold her back!..Look at her..like a Sherni hunting her prey.. Uff yeh ada...kaun na ho fida!

SR looked at Dharam, his face suddenly bright with realisation..Yes, Dharam,my man, I've lost my heart to her,....Please, will you keep an eye on your future Bhabhi, while I go and change into something more appropriate! I promise you that I won't be discovered!..

SR gave Dharam a big wink and quickly hurried away.., everybody turned to look at the very strange looking woman who was holding her skirts high, revealing her hairy legs and muddy clogs...

Dharam smiling proudly..Yes, thats my lovely wife, she's going to get me some food.. Ever the devoted servant..
