Ah, finally a dignified version of the Ramayan! What a relief! I hope they continue in this dignified fashion till the end of the serial. If the present day Sagars haven't realized the sanctity of the Ramayan by now and if they show more rubbish like the Luv-Kush nightmare episodes ever again, I hope they never produce another Ramayan in the future.

I thought Vibs was the one who should be given that title. It is sad that she (got it right this time Mallika 😆) does not come to the forum anymore. 😭

I miss Vibs too, but she also has a right to enjoy her vacation. Hope she enjoys it. She is welcome to the title. But I dunno whether she has the Ramayan library that you have😆

Only eye-sore in today's episode was K-L protesting at not being taken to war, and Sita re-iterating Shatrughan's argument that they were too young. Of course, they were just born at the time in question. It's sad having to edit them out, but when I post things on YouTube, I refuse to post fiction that's not there in any version of the Ramayan, or that contradicts Valmiki so starkly.

Anyway, still please find out which Ramayan did this Rama vs Hanuman battle take place.

But does the serial want to show that Lavanasur is anticipating any attack on his kingdom, (after his atrocities on rishis)more so from Rama because he sends his spies to rishis in particular knowing that Ram protects rishis. The twist maybe be alright but I think, (in the epic)Shatrughna catches him unaware and Lavanasur doesn't know of any plans hatched against him.

If they show that Lavanasura's spy is unsuccessful in alerting him about Shatrughan's plans, then this story would be consistent with the original, where you are right - Shatrughan does catch him unawares. But if they show Lavanasura being alerted, it would be a serious distortion.

The earlier Karkati part, where Lavanasura sent spies to Ayodhya, and Rama sent a double agent back - flies in the face of the original story. In fact, neither Rama nor Lavanasura had designs on each other's territory, and had Lavanasura not persecuted the rishis, Rama might have been perfectly happy to leave him alone.

This episode wasn't too bad. I just hope they don't turn Shatrughan/Lavanasur Yudh into a Ram/Ravan yudh. Two episodes is more than enough to finish off Lavanasur and install Shatrughan on Mathura's throne. It will be nice if the epis aren't elongated Other than that, this epi was a big relief from the previous Luv Kush/ Dora epis.

Mandhata was one of the ancestors of Rama and Shatrughan. He once fought a battle w/ Ravan, where he sent a Brahmastra at Ravan, and Ravan sent a trishul at him. The collision of these 2 ultimate weapons threatened to destroy the world, so Brahma appeared before them, and appealed to them to stop, and assured them that neither of them would have the stigma of defeat as a result of this battle attached to them. Both were satisfied by this.

However, this victory over Ravan made Mandhata even more vain, and he continued his war for world conquest, until it got to the point that he wanted to conquer Devalok. In fact, Indra had given him half of Devalok, but even that didn't satisfy him - he wanted it all. It was then that Indra told him that he couldn't possibly have all of Devalok since he had yet to defeat Lavanasura. The rest of the story is what they showed.

In today's episode, they showed Shatrughan killing Lavanasura. However, the way they showed it left a lot to be desired. Here is what the original account is re: Lavanasura's killing:

Sarg 68 - Lavanaasur Finds Shatrughn at His Door

Shatrughn did as Rishi advised to him. When Lavanaasur had gone in the search of meat, Shatrughn went and sat at his door. Lavanaasur came back in the afternoon carrying many living beings, he found Shatrughn at his door. He said - "Hey low-level man. Certainly Bhagvaan has sent you as my food. Now you cannot escape."

Shatrughn said - "O evil, I am brother of Raam and I am not going to leave you alive today. Come and have a dual fight with me." Lavanaasur said smiling - "Raavan was my Maamaa. Raam has killed his whole Vansh, but I did not say anything. But today you are insulting me in front of me? This is just intolerable. Just wait, let me bring my weapon, then I will fight with you." Shatrughn said - "It is not good to leave the enemy after getting hold of him. Therefore you will not be able to go from here and will be killed by me."

Sarg 69 - Lavanaasur Vadh

Lavanaasur roared like anything. Shatrughn said - "Today all Rishi will be pleased to see you killed, as all Devtaa got happy at the time of killing of Raavan,. When you killed the king of Ikshwaaku Vansh, at that time Shatrughn was not there. Since I am here, come and fight with me." Hearing this Lavanaasur uprooted several huge trees and threw them on Shatrughn, but Shatrughn cut all of them with his sharp arrows. Then Lavanaasur hit Shatrughn with another tree which made Shatrughn unconscious. Lavanaasur, considering Shatrughn dead, didn't go in his house to bring his trident rather started eating his food.

After a while Shatrughn gained his consciousness he stood up and took out Raam's arrow. All became frightened to see that divine arrow. Devtaa, Daitya, Rishi went to Brahmaa Jee . Brahmaa Jee explained them everything - "This arrow was created by Vishnu to kill Madhu and Kaitabh. Shatrughn is the part of Bhagvaan so you need not to worry about anything."

Devtaa came back to sky to see Shatrughn and Lavanaasur fight. Shatrughn shot that arrow at Lavanaasur. It pierced his chest, went to Paataal and came back to Shatrughn. As the arrow hit Lavanaasur, he fell down like a cut tree. After Lavanaasur had died, the trident also went to Rudra in front of everybody. Thus all became happy and comfortable after the killing of Lavanaasur.

However, in the battle today, they made it look completely one sided: first, Lavanasura hurled his sword at Shatrughan, which he blew up with his arrow, and then Lavanasura looked for weapons from his chariot, but couldn't find any. Shatrughan took another arrow (they didn't show him specifically take the arrow that Rama had given him) and fired it at Lavanasura. As Lavanasura lay dying, he shouted out to Shatrughan accusing him of cheating in war.

Had it happened this way, Lavanasura would have been right, but as the above account shows, it didn't.

At the end of the episode, Lakshman gives Rama, Sumitra, Shrutakirti and Kaushalya the news of Lavanasura's death. Sumitra/Kaushalya asks when Rama will return, and Rama says he has to calm things down in Madhupuri. He also asks Lakshman to order celebrations in Ayodhya over the victory. I was disappointed that Rama didn't ask Lakshman to make arrangements for Shrutakirti, Subahu and Shatrughati to move to Madhupuri, since that was where they now belonged. In fact, since nothing is said about Sumitra, he could even have sent her over as well in the episode.
