Also to add one more thing to my point above...even in the Mahabharat...Krishnaji always says Adharmiyo ke saath Adharm kaarne me ko Adharm nahi ho ta (basically saying: There is nothing wrong in doing wrong to those that are wrong in the first place...and that we do not get punished for those who play fire with fire------> So ultimate message even in Gita: When you see wrong, if you have to make it right, there is no wrong in doing it by Hook or Crook)

I haven't watched it the old version fully. I was a kid at that time. I don't think I was in any position to follow it. But I remember some of it. The characters, songs, some dialogues still ring in my mind. And ofcourse - I've been trying to see it through youtube.

I think you missed my last point, where I said
Note that all the observations above are completely independent of whether Vibhishan did the right thing or not.
Yep, Vibhishan still did belong to the same family, regardless of what he did. However, Mandodari, and almost all the women in the family - Vajramala, Dhanyamalini, were all senior to him in status, and had precedence over him, and Mandodari (with Ravan), was the co-head of the family, and now the head. And what I pointed out was that in her unique case, Vibhishan had caused the death of her son and her husband. Since she was the co-head of the family, she did have the right to disown anyone else in the family, particularly one who had (again, from her standpoint) betrayed her, as Vibhishan did. Yeah, in the greater scheme of things, he did all the right things and she knew it, but as the head of her family, it was her prerogative to 'punish' him for what he did.

Note that it's sometimes possible to do the right thing in the bigger scheme of things, but the same act being a wrong thing in a more limited context. Mandodari was acting within that context, as per her role. She was not the lordess of the tri-lok: she was the head of the Rakshash-kul, and she acted against one who shared a good deal of the responsibility of what happened to it.

It is true - A person must accept and experience the consequences of what he/she did regardless of whether it was good or bad.
And yes, it does sound like a law in physics 😆

Okay, Desichica, I finally actuallywatched the exchange in question, which I missed Thursday due to the match, and today, since I had an invitation. My previous reaction was just on reading the updates.

I agreed with Mandodari more strongly once I actually saw it, than I did earlier. First of all, Vibhishan tells her to stop as though it's abnormal of her to cry, so she gives him a dressing down. She asks him wherefrom he got the gall to address her 'bhabi' after delivering his brother to the hands of the enemy, and then adds that she has no longer any relationship with him.

Yeah, I fully agree w/ you & Vibs - the consequences for their actions were inevitable. Just because I agree with Mandodari here doesn't mean that I think that Ravan didn't deserve to get killed, or that Vibhishan did the wrong thing by giving Rama the secret. However, just that just as Ravan had to pay the price for abducting Sita, Vibhishan too had to 'pay the price' vis a vis his relationship with Mandodari, which was that of a very close and resonant bhabi/devar (during the abduction episodes), but now that of a betrayed vs a betrayer.

WELL i don't remember the whole song but the lyrics were SHRI RAM JI ravan ko antim paath padate hain .......
so for now ,i can an idea abt the song , the song was RAMJI teaching last lesson to ravan & ravan is atyachari ,so RAMJI finally teaching the last lesson to ravan ,on one hand there is the ultimate prabhu RAM & on the other hand balshali(most powerful demon ) ravan was there ,so its a tussel between 2 strong warriors .
for the entire song i hv to look for the vdo .

Thanks, but that was not the song I was looking for. Its the one that first appeared when Ram killed Ahi and Mahi. And every time they (Ram and Lakshman) shoot the final arrow it is played in the background. It was played when Lakshman killed Prahast, when Ram was aiming the last arrow at Ravan.
Thanks for the explanation too.
