No need to apologize - we are discussing things here, and yours is a very valid opinion. But out here, Debina is as deferential to Rama as the original/real Sita supposedly was, she isn't exactly being what contemporary women are. You are right - being a pativrata is incredibly hard, and there were only a handful of them in Hindu mythology. However, at times, I thought Dipika went over the top, with phrases such as 'I worship the dust on your feet' when Rama set foot on Lanka. Maybe that's more accurate than this one - it would be interesting to know.

However, my point was that Sita was supposed to be both an example and an inspiration for women everywhere, and in that respect, I thought (again, this is just my humble opinion) that Debina plays that role better than Dipika ever did.

Right, there's no need to apologize. You were only expressing your opinion, and that's perfectly alright.
@Chandraketu: I understand your reasons for liking Debina better, but personally, I thought phrases like "I worship the dust on your feet" very emotional and respectful. I didn't think that servile at all. Remember, we're talking about the Treta Yuga. Back then, women were expected to say all those kinds of phrases to their husbands, because it was their duty. And back in the Treta Yuga, husbands did not press their wives' feet.
Sita Mata's greatness was her deep devotion to her husband, her willingness to serve him like a servant, and obviously, her chastity. While Debinaji acts extremely good (I still like her a lot😃), I like the characterization of Sitaji better in the older Ramayan. I don't think anyone needs to explain Deepikaji's acting, as she has already created a niche for herself and is thought of quite highly, but Deepika did do a wonderful job as Sita.
Sitaji in the older Ramayan is such an insipiration to me, and the phrases that you find servile, I find inspirational and devotional. You can call me old fashioned, but think about it. We're talking about the Treta Yuga, not today.
However, today in the year of 2008 (which is soon to be 2009), many youngsters will not appreciate the characterization of the old Sitaji, because in this modern world where women are equal to men (nothing wrong with that😊), the old Sitaji will seem too servile to them, while this new Sitaji is only slightly servile, stronger, angrier, and more spirited. That's why lots of people 30 years and younger prefer Debina, while those above 30 will prefer Deepika. Then again, I could be wrong, because there could ne selected people in both groups who would prefer the other.

No one is saying anything against Debina's acting, which is faultless. Her acting itself is really excellent. We're just talking about the characterization of Sitaji, and there's nothing wrong in that. No body is discouraging anybody. We're not saying anything against the cast of this Ramayan, only the storyline. Remember, every serial will get criticism, so fans should not get angry by that. You're saying that we should not say anything about the cast or story, because that will discourage this new Ramayan, but I don't think it will. In fact, it might advice them to improve, b/c there's always room to improve in everyone. No one's perfect.

i'm not blaming anybody for discouraging debinaji's character in ramayan !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!i'm just saying that the way Ms. aishwarya has used to describe debinaji's character in ramayan is absolutely wrong !!!!!!!
and this way seems to be discouragement !!!!!!! which IF rules do not allow !!!!!

There were other Sitas also viz; Meenaxi Gupta who played Sita in Jai Hanuman and Reena kapoor in B R Chopra's Vishnu puran, both did a fair job as Sita.

Sorry😳. Like I said, I don't know the names of all the Sitas who acted. That's why I put the other option.

Both Deepika and Debina acted/ acts as per the direction team.

Appearance wise, both look good, but Deepika's short stature fits more into Mata Laxmi's appearance. The way Deepika used to call Trijata "MA" or "Mata" was very soothing to the ears. But I dont know why the directon team make Debina call "MATA TRIJATA" in the same montonous tone everytime., it looks like she is making a speech. Debina appears more aggressive and her clothes many-a-time is a bit revealing. But its again not her fault, she does what she is asked to do. She is doing a fantastic job too.

Anita Guha, I dont know how many of you have seen her picture at least, she had perfect features, she was a beauty inherself. But sorry I never saw that Ramayan, hence cannot comment.

I think Debina and Deepika are both good, but Deepika is better.
