Here is part 2, which shows the actual battle of Khar and Dushan. It ends with the entrance of Ravan into the show.

I think both the Valmiki Ramayan and Ramcharitmanas versions of Khar-Dushan vadh were shown nicely. In Valmiki Ramayan, Shri Ram's strength in fighting Khar Dushan is given prominence, whereas in Ramcharitmanas, Shri Ram's cleverness are given prominence. Generally in Ramcharitmanas, Shri Ram's divine side was highlighted so Tulsidas wrote about him using divine astras in fights. In Valmiki, Ram still uses divine astras but he also fights like a normal human being in many scenes. He gets injured, he goes through more obstacles, he is more emotional, etc.
Comparing two scenes from the scriptures is alright, but I think we should stay away from comparing SP Ramayan to previous shows. I do understand that comparisons are inevitable sometimes since many shows have been made on the Ramayana, not only by the Sagars but also by the Chopras. But let's keep the comparisons to ourselves. To debate scenes, let's use the scriptures instead since they should be the ultimate source and not any serial. 😊 After all, even Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan was not perfect. It also had its flaws, so we should not use it as the baseline for how modern shows like Anand Sagar's Ramayan or SP's Ramayan should have been like. The modern shows also had their positives, and we should recognize them instead of comparing them to shows of the 80s and 90s.

and ram ji repeatedly says all the sages thorugh out their 12 years have blessed them with lof of divine weapons..armor can be one of them.

moreover he is a human avtaar. so i actually loved they showed such details :)

Yes, Ram and Lakshman did get special weapons from Maharishi Agastya, but I was wondering specifically if Shri Ram ever got armor when he fought in battles.😊 It mentions in Yudh Kand that Lord Indra gave Shri Ram his chariot to fight with Ravan. Likewise, did any of the Gods or sages give him impenetrable armor?

If members wish to compare a TV show with other TV shows on the same story, what's the problem? Let them do it. šŸ˜Ž šŸ˜Ž And you got to admit, whenever a particular story, in any media, has multiple versions, we'll, consciously or unconsciously, compare them & end up with a favourite. For example, after reading every conceivable version of Ramayan available, I find Shri Ramcharitmanas to be the best, in fact, in a league of it's own. It's so subtle, so well-written, & so crammed with Vedanta, I now refuse to compare it with any other version!! Same's the case in every media, I believe. Anybody who has watched all three 'Devdas' movies, will have a fav among those three (mine is Dilip Kumar's version, btw, though K L Sehgal's was good, too, never watched Shahrukh's version completely), and not only that, we'll have people adamant that the novel should never have been adapted for the screen!

You probably noticed that I too have written two posts in this thread and in both of them, I've mentioned that I am happy with the episode & what's shown by way of battle, and with the show as well. However, if there are members who believe that a particular incident, howsoever minor, was portrayed better in some other TV show, I think expressing their opinion on a discussion forum, is not only right, but rather desirable for the general 'interest-worthiness' of the forum concerned. Doesn't mean that we all have to agree with each other's opinions, of course, or even take any interest in it, but why not express it, decently & properly? 😊

hah No annoyance at all ...M pretty much OK... lol why would I get annoyed oon merely a topic but like people have opinions..I too have mine..I really do not mind comparison but calling a particular version not up to the mark just cause it followed Valmiki Ramyan and not RCM looks pretty amusing to me.Well everyone has personal favourates ,I have mine too so no offense to anyone..I just stated my beliefs as noramlly every episode one or the other keeps questioning why not this scripture why not that...So m neither annoyed but m pretty much confused as to what exactly do we want them to showšŸ˜†
oh @ BOLD ...m all open to a lot of debates and I am the last person on earth who would talk in an indecent or improper manner.The post was not an annoyance post it was a genuine debate as to what exactly are we expecting from the CV's whn there are thousand tales and versions😊

Hi
I am quoting one verse which we see just before Ram takes on Khar and Dushan

Well bedecked in a shield that has fire-like brilliance that Rama shone forth like a fumeless conflagration up-shot in utter darkness. [3-24-17]

the words used were tena kavachena (by that armour).
For Kshatriyas armour is considered to be equal to arms. So they always take them
Before going to the forest, Dasaratha sends ornaments and clothes for Sita and armour and various weaponsfor Ram and Lakshman

?????????????? ???????????? ?????? ? |
???????? ??????????? ????? ?????? ? ??? || ?-??-??
???? ???????? ??????? ???????? ??????? ??????? |
????????? ???????? ??????? ???? ??? ????? ??? || ?-??-??

Even so for the two brothers, keeping the sets of weapon, an armour of hard make with leather-cover in the midst of the chariot, Sumantra saw the three of whom Seetha constituted the third mounted and quickly drove the horses which were highly admired, with their swiftness resembling the velocity of wind.

sorry for the unevenness of my quotes. I have long been a member, but am participating in discussions just now.

@ ukrn,
Thank you for the verse! So in Valmiki Ramayan, Ram, Lakshman, and Sita did not go to vanvaas empty-handed. I do not think many people know about this. 😊 I wish SP Ramayan showed this also, because the popular image of Ram, Sita, Lakshman people have in mind is the depiction given in Ramcharitmanas. Valmiki's depiction of them is quite different but not many are aware of it.
