Anurag Kashyap unleashes Aaishvary Thackeray in a double role in first look of 'Nishaanchi'

Amazon MGM Studios India has announced the release date for its upcoming film Nishaanchi, which is set to arrive in theatres across India on September 19, 2025. Backed by Jar Pictures and Flip Films, the crime drama brings together a mix of emerging talent and seasoned performers under the direction of Anurag Kashyap.

Leading the cast is Aaishvary Thackeray, stepping into his first film role with a dual character performance. The movie charts the journey of two brothers navigating a volatile world shaped by conflict, loyalty, and personal choices. Vedika Pinto, Monika Panwar, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, and Kumud Mishra round out the ensemble in supporting roles.

The script, co-written by Prasoon Mishra, Ranjan Chandel, and Kashyap, is expected to explore the consequences of actions within a tightly wound story arc. While Kashyap has often leaned into stories rooted in socio-political realities, this project appears to incorporate elements of mainstream entertainment alongside his grounded storytelling.

A first look poster has been revealed, giving audiences a glimpse into the tone of the film. With strong visual cues and character-driven tension, the promotional material hints at a story involving personal turmoil and larger external pressures. The title Nishaanchi itself suggests a narrative centered on aim, intent, and impact—both metaphorically and literally.

Jar Pictures’ Ajay Rai and Ranjan Singh are on board as producers. The film is also being distributed and presented in association with Amazon MGM Studios India, which continues to expand its slate of theatrical releases.
