BTS, aespa, Byeon Woo-seok and host of top Korean stars get flak after W Korea's tone deaf event

The W Korea event held in Seoul was a starry affair. A number of stars like BTS members RM, J-Hope, V, aespa’s Karina, Winter, girl group members and stars from the Korean drama industry were present. Jay Park also performed at the event much to the delight of those present. However, the entire event has come under immense scrutiny and criticism. They said the gala aimed for awareness of breast cancer hardly any discussion or segment around the same. There was just a short speech that said this was to raise money for charity. The donations are to help cancer patients and survivors.

The organizers W Korea and all the guests have got immense flak. People noted how no one even wore a pink ribbon, which is a symbol of the cause. They said a huge NSFW poster of a woman in lingerie was placed behind the stage. Jay Park performed his song Mommae, which is known for its sexual lyrics. They said such projection of women’s bodies at such an event was extremely embarrassing. They said the evening felt like a night at a club where everyone was dressed glamorously, drank and danced away to hit songs.

Fans have called out the tone deaf attitude of the organizers. They said no one bothered to say something even in the interview segments about breast cancer. They said if the magazine did not use the hashtag it would have come off as a fashion event. All handles were discussing the wardrobe of the celebs and who wore what jewellery. BTS’ Jimin and Jungkook fans are feeling glad the two did not attend this do. Gender issues are a deep topic in South Korea where birth rates have declined with women starting the 4B movement. Korean drama stars like Kim Hyeyoon, Byeon Wooseok, Lee Min-Ho, Lee JunHo, Lee ChaeMin, Choo Youngwoo, Jeon Yeobeen were also in attendance.
