As Sanam stared out the window, she suddenly realized that they were going in a quite unfaimilar direction. It was almost as if they were drifting away from the crowd in the city of Bhopal. She straightened up and took a closer look. Sanam had not been to too many places in Bhopal but she knew enough to be able go tell that most of the five star hotels and posh places were not in the same direction they were moving in.
"Yeh meeting kaunse hotel mein hain?" She finally asked unable to contain her curiosity.
"You will see once we get there."
His nonchalence was disconcerting. Was he up to something? Up until they were in the office, everything seemed fine but suddenly Sanam was a bit suspicous. She glanced at Aahil who had his eyes firmly on the road, as if he was in deep concentration. As far as she knew him, he was not such disciplined driver who would not dare look away from the road. She knew all about his rash driving habits when she had first stayed at Ibrahim Mansions. Latif had given her almost every vital information she needed about his "Laad Saab" along with extended commentary on his good habits, caring nature and deliciously looks. Sanam had rolled her eyes at that. Yes she found him hot, but his so called "heart of gold" made humph in disbelief. It wasn't until much later that she saw what a wonderful person he was. She had chastised herself for her ill thoughts of him. He was truly a genuine person. Latif had managed to see through his tough facade while most had failed. Of course Latif used to have a crush on Aahil, the key word was "use to" and no longer did. Her level of curiosity had reached even higher with his lack of a proper reply. Sanam cleared her thoat. She knew she had Aahil's attention because she saw him swallow hard.
"At least yeh toh bataiye ke hum ja kaha ja rahe hai? All I see are trees and a long winding path. Jitna main janti hoon, saare restuarant aur hotels toh hum peeche chor aaye. They are in the opposite direction! Aahil whats going on." She saw his jaw tighten. So he wanted her to stay silent and not question? But she had every right to. This was frustrating! Where were they going?
"The meeting needs to be held in a special place. It was a request. Its best we just follow through with it. Anything else Sanam?" She could tell he clearly wanted the end the conversation there. Fine! I wont ask, she thought. So she just rolled her eyes and crossed her arms across her chest. She leaned back and looked back out of the window. She had to admit, the sight was getting more and more breathtaking. Gone were the buildings, lights and stores. The sky was dark but clear, aside from the stars and Sanam could make with rows of heavy trees on the sides of the road. The night looked calm and enchanting, almost like a dream. Of course if the man next to her wasn't in such a foul mood, it would have been perfect! Sanam smiled as she felt the fresh air seep through the crack of the open window. She inhaled it in softly. If felt just right. As they kept on going Sanam gasped softly making Aahil look in her direction.
"The moon is out. You can see it clearly and those stars twinkling. How beautiful! I used to sit outside for hours with Haya staring into the dark night sky. Its always gorgeous! Wow Aahil, these clients are lucky! Regardless of where it is they have called the meeting, its a beautiful night and the ambience outside is perfect. They will defintely enjoy it." Sanam smiled as he nodded slowly.
"I hope so. Hopefully the night turns out exactly as planned." Sanam nodded trying to assure herself that he was only talking about some boring business meeting, where files and projects will be discussed, quotations will be given and some refreshments will be served. Nothing more. Maybe thats what he was nervous about? Shayad yeh clients thode difficult types ke hain? Sanam convinced herself. Yes, that sounded right. No wonder he asked her to come along!
The rest of the drive went by in silence. But sitting with Aahil in a car surrounded by such peace, made her want to cherish the moment. Having him so close and alone to herself gave butterflies in her stomach. She didn't want the drive to end. Although it wasnt exactly how she had imagined a long drive, any moment with her Jallad Jin was perfect!
As the car halted to a stop, Aahil silently prayed that things would work out just fine. But he knew it was time to be bombarded with questions. Hence, he maintained a cool composure.
"I thought you said you had a meeting? But this place looks deserted? There is no one here!'" Sanam exclaimed. He said nothing but simply stepped out of the car.
As he walked to her side and opened the door, she gathered the ends of her dupatta and stepped out of the car. For a moment she closed her eyes and reveled in the cool air. Aahil watched her with fascination. She looked like a fairy from heaven. He was brought back to earth when she opened her eyes. He took her hand and led her up the steps of the isolated cottage before she could protest.
Aahil had bought this property a year back from a friend who had it built but never stayed in it, since he moved abroad a few months after. For some reason it had fascinated Aahil. Rehan had laughed saying that it was not Aahil's type, but for some reason he had felt attached to it. He never had the chance to visit the place as often as he wanted to. Designed keeping modern architecture in mind, the cottage still had a vintage touch to it. It was a few hours away from the city yet gave the feeling of belonging to the countryside or a large estate. In the front was a garden, now hidden in the dark night. The garden was full of flowers which always reminded of his deceased mother. The cottage had a homely feel that the mansion lacked. It was encompassed with peace and tranquility, surrounded by trees and nature, it was beautiful. But he was glad Sanam could not really notice its beauty in the dark, for the surprise he had planned awaited inside.
Aahil unlocked the door and led a confused Sanam inside. He let go of her hand to lock the door softly behind them and turned on the lights. As she was taking in the sight before her, Aahil leaned close to her ear. "I do have a meeting. With Mrs. Sanam Aahil Raza Ibrahim," he said huskily.
He felt Sanam shiver slightly. He had no idea if that made things easier or more difficult for him. He tried to keep his mind off of any movement her body made. He definitely knew of other ways he could make her shiver.
Instead Aahil turned her around and looked her in the eye. He was met with the same fire that had captivated him from the very begining. "You tricked me Aahil. There is no meeting here! Its not fair!" She said with so much anger that even Aahil was taken aback. It was almost as if he had done something to cause her trouble.
"Fair? So me simply bringing you out somewhere is not fair but you leaving the day of our nikah is?" As much as Aahil tried to keep the sarcasm out of his voice, it was seeping back in. If she could be angry then he could be as well!
"I know why you have brought me here. Having Rehan drop me to the office, asking for coffee, and reading those files was all just a ruse. So this was your grand plan Nawab Aahil Raza Ibrahim?" She walked towards the center of the room as she spoke and turned around to face him. Sanam looked at him fiercely.
"Maybe it was. Is there anything wrong with wanting to spend time with you?" He said trying not to grit his teeth. He walked up to her.
"How could you do this Aahil!" Sanam said with frustration clearly visible in her voice. Aahil felt upset. She disregarded everything he had done. Not once did she look at the decorations nor the roses. He had everything specially selected as per her favorites. The color red that was present throughout the entire room was only because she liked it. But Sanam was too busy chiding him for a simple lie to notice. Aahil knew there was only one way to stop her. Tell her the truth.
"Shh... Your still my wife Sanam. All I am asking for is some time, from you. I had all this arranged for you. Just so we could talk, without anyone interfering. I felt that there was so much to clear between us, so much to ask and so much to share. I am not asking---"
"Aahil please! First you got drunk last night and now this! Yes I told you we would speak in the morning. I had to go see Haya. You didnt have to do this. I knew it! I knew there was a reason for you calling me to your office!"
"You know me so well Sanam. Yet you don't know why I'm doing this?" Aahil said softly despite the frustration he felt.
"I do but Aahil honestly I cant tell you anything right now. When time comes you will find out!"
"When time comes? When will that be Sanam? After everything is finished?"
"Honestly at this point there is nothing left to argue about. If you believed me you would have known that there must be a reason why I cannot tell you anything right now. That there was a strong reason why I left. You would have realize that I have been wronged as well Aahil. I did say that I would tell you everything when the time is right. I wish you respected that," Sanam said as she looked at him and despite her anger he saw her hopelessness. It was as if she wanted to tell him but could not. Suddenly she looked away averting his gaze but he could tell she awaited his reply.
But Aahil had had enough. He didnt want to fight. He just wanted to talk! But she didn't. Aahil stepped closer to Sanam as she looked up at him. Her gaze stirred something inside of him and made his body react in his need for her. Aahil reached out, snaking his arm around her back, and in an instant she was pressed against him. He wanted her. He needed her, for more than just his body. And he needed her now. But not without knowing what he needed to know first. It was too important!
"Please Sanam tell me why. I promise I will hear. I wont question. I deserve to know," Aahil whispered as he leaned closer. He knew that his eyes reflected the same desperation as Sanam's. He breathed in her heavenly scent. Her luscious hair drew him even closer. Aahil pulled Sanam even closer to his body, until there was no room between them. He nuzzled her hair as he felt her breathing fasten. He slid aside her dupatta and softly kissed her her collarbone which was visible from her kameez. Aahil leaned back slightly and moved up to her full rosy lips. The desire to kiss her was stronger than ever.
He felt her soft breath mingling with his and suddenly the air grew hot and heavy. Sanam was trembling, Aahil could feel that from his fingers which were around her waist. But he wasn't so sure that he wasn't trembling, either. Aahil realized that this was the closest he had ever gotten to Sanam physically. Suddenly it was unnerving and overwhelming. He wanted to make this perfect and wanted to cherish it forever. He brushed his lips against hers, a soft teasing touch which was enough to feel the texture of her lips, to sense the heat of her body, both of which drove him wild. Aahil slid out his tongue and tickled her lips softly, they felt tender and sweet.
He felt her shiver once again as his own thoughts got increasingly fuzzy. The reason why he brought her here suddenly returned to the back of his head. Aahil pulled back slightly trying to snap out of the heady feeling of passion and looked back into her deep eyes. He felt her shudder under his gaze. This time it was not a request, it was a demand. "Sanam you have to tell me!" She swallowed and looked at him. Her eyes got wide and she blinked.
Dammit! Those eyes will be the death of me, he thought. Aahil looked down to see her bite her bottom lip. Her awareness of their proximity mixed in with her nervousness attracted him even more. Suddenly her lips were much more inviting than the words he wanted coming out of them. Unable to wait any longer, Aahil swept down and claimed her lips. After her initial hesitation, she kissed him back with equal fervor. He found himself seeking her warmth. He felt her hands at the back of his neck, holding on tight, and he felt her heart racing in her chest. She wanted him. His Begum Jaan wanted him. She tasted sweet, warm and precious like heaven, one that was only made for him. It was not a soft gentle kiss but one of desperation, angst and passion. All questions, answers and requests were lost in the heat of passion. They hungrily fed on each other's lips. Instinctively, she parted her lips slightly as soon as he bit her lower lip exactly where she had a few moments ago. Aahil slowed down and allowed his tongue to enter her mouth. Sanam gasped slightly as Aahil proceeded further. Soon their tongues mingled and Aahil felt as if this was his first kiss. He could tell this was Sanam's first yet her innocence and curiosity was driving him crazy. He held her tighter, for her support or his, he didn't know. Soon they were both breathless. Aahil pulled back but made no move to pull himself away from her body. Instead he moved his face to the side and lightly brushed his stubbled jaw across her soft cheeks as she innocently clutched his back, rubbing her fingers over it, making his breath hitch. Miss Dhabewaali knew exactly how to handle him.
Sanam knew what he was doing. She did. The second she stepped into the small vintage cottage her suspicions were confirmed. Yet she could not help but be captivated by the sight before her. He had the entire cottage decorated with candles and red roses knowing red was her favorite color. The cream colored curtains complimented them perfectly creating a sexy romantic ambience. It made her heart beat faster, everything was just perfect! However Sanam was aware that this moment would come with a certain price that she could not afford. She knew he would ask questions that she could not answer. Sanam tried to fight him in order to avoid his questions and it broke her heart to ruin such a perfect moment. To see the disappointment, hurt and anger on his face. She didn't want to fight! She just wanted to tell him the truth, that she never left and that she loved him from the bottom for her heart! She wanted to hug him and thank him for trying to make the moment special, make her feel special! She wanted to assure him that she would never leave! She wanted to spend the entire night in his arms! But Sanam knew she could not. She just could not. She had to leave.
But she could not as she was already hopelessly under his charm. Sanam had not expected him to touch her, to kiss her like that. It held her in place, she was entranced! Even if she wanted to, she could not stop, she could not leave, she could not walk away! He evoked such strong feelings within her that she never felt before. Only he could do this to her! Sanam could barely stand still, she was still reeling under the effects of his kiss. Would he... Sanam admonished herself for thinking like that! But she would lie if she said that she did not want him to continue. Somewhere inside of her she craved his touch. His stubble heated her cheek the second it made contact. She had held on to him for support, feeling the taut muscles in his back through his black shirt. Aahil always looked gorgeously handsome in black! To add to her pleasurable woes, his intense glare made her weak in her knees. It made her clearly see his desire and love for her. She knew she was right to fight for her love! She had never felt this before. But she felt it with him! She loved Aahil with her heart and soul! However she couldn't answer his questions. She couldn't. She didn't want him to ask either. She wanted to forget everything and just bask in the heat of his love.
Sanam sucked in her breath as she felt exactly what she was doing to him. It gave her pleasure to know she affected him to this extent. He had pressed her flush against him and she could sense his growing need. He wanted her and she wanted him. Sanam felt her breathing grow harder every second. She had no idea she could feel or act this way. It was as if he had awakened the woman inside of her. The hands which were on her back burned through her skin. She felt heat from her cheeks all the way to the tip of her toes. It was as if all the distance and lack of contact made her want him even more. After all the chaos, they deserved this moment to themselves and she didn't want it to end!
Aahil could feel the heat of her under his fingertips, seeping up through the kameez, cushioning the delicate muscles of her back. He could feel her, her soft and delicate body, and it set him on fire. He was growing hard, and he wanted her. He wanted her so bad. He wanted to give her a night of pleasure, having her say only his name from her lips. He slowly reached for the dori in the back of her kameez. He wanted to seal their pure love with passion.
But as soon as his fingertips touched the dori, he stopped. Suddenly he realized the consequences of continuing and at that moment reality hit him. He could not go further. Not without knowing her true feelings. Too much was at stake for him. His emotions were much more involved than his physical self. Aahil felt a strange tightness in his chest. He loved her with all his being. But did she feel the same way? The emotional side of him said yes she did! Her eyes, her words, her concern, everything screamed her love for him. But his logical side still questioned why she left him. Why did she choose the most important night of their life to go someplace else? If there was indeed an emergency, why could she not tell him? Did she not love him enough to trust him? If she does not, then did she come back? He could not continue without knowing the answers to these questions.
Aahil moved away from Sanam and ran his hand through his hair in frustration. He could not let his body rule his mind! He could not let his emotions replace his ability to think! He took a deep breath to calm his body. This was difficult. He looked at Sanam accusingly. Everything would be perfect if she would just tell him the truth. It just would! Sanam looked at him in a lost manner. He knew she felt the loss of his warmth, of his body, as he felt exactly the same way! The kiss had overwhelmed her and god forbid she thinks it was a mistake! That he regrets it! That can never be the case! Only Allah knows that he wants her to be his forever! Sanam blinked a few times and Aahil could see the unshed tears that were streaming down her cheeks. Wiping away the spots where he had touched her. Her tears were removing his touch! Aahil reached forward to wipe them but Sanam had already begun rubbing her cheeks with her hands. He looked at her is dismal, not knowing what to say. How to continue without hurting her! He felt helpless.
Before he could think otherwise, he stepped forward and wrapped her into his arms. He wanted to soothe her and comfort her. Let her know that he never meant to hurt her! That his feelings and his passion were as true as they can be! As Aahil felt Sanam grow limp in his arms, he realized she was tired and now emotionally drained. Aahil slowly detached himself from Sanam and picked her up in his arms. Sanam, surprised at first, gave in and let him carry her. She fit cozily in his arms and rested her head in the crook of his neck. As she wrapped her hands around his neck, Aahil felt as if she was made to fit into his arms. He carried her into the small bedroom which needed no lighting. The moonlight spilling from the window was enough and gave it the appearance of a painting. But what made it even more ethereal was the woman before him.
Aahil softly laid her down on the bed. The moonlight illuminated her face making her appear like a goddess. She turned to him and looked at him in confusion.
"You look really tired Sanam. Lets just go to sleep. Its just me and you, no one else." He softly kissed her forehead. She just nodded and turned. She curled up next to him as he placed his arm around her. At that moment, Aahil wanted nothing more. Just having her beside him was comforting. He wanted things to always be like this but he knew once they would return, things would be like how they were before. His mother would taunt Sanam about her fake love and each word would feel like an arrow to his heart. While Sanam would go back to her silence and not offer him any respite either. But he needed to untangle this mess which was suppose to be his life. He needed the truth. Aahil loved his family and didnt know whom to not trust. He trusted them all. He just wanted the truth. As he held Sanam in his arms as tight as he could, he prayed to Allah that the truth would come before him. Only he knows how difficult living without her is. He pulled her closer fearing she would slip away. He just wanted her in his arms, forever.
