Chapter 30 Happily TogetherIt was the day after the nikah. Aahil was still asleep in the room whereas Sanam was wide awake. She had prepared a nice breakfast for Aahil. The breakfast consisted of french toast along with an apple and orange juice. She had everything laid out on a tray. She smiled upon seeing Aahil asleep. She laid the breakfast down on the counter table and took a little bit of the orange juice and splashed it onto Aahil. Aahil immediately woke up. "Sanam?!" Aahil said.
"Good morning." Sanam greeted.
"Since when have you been up?" Aahil asked.
"For an hour."
"But I always wake up before you!"
"Not anymore. You're a bit sleepy."
"Its fine. I'll go freshen up."
Sanam nodded and Aahil got up and went to the bathroom to freshen up. When he came out, Sanam sat him down on the bed and showed him the breakfast she made. "You made breakfast for me?" Aahil asked Sanam.
"Haan. As your official wife, I thought it would be a nice way to start off the first day after our nikah."
"You didn't have to. And since when can you cook?"
"Hey! Asma has taught me a lot. Now have some."
Sanam ripped a piece of the french toast and fed it to Aahil with her own hands. Aahil ate the piece of bread and his eyes beamed. "This is very good!"
"See! I knew you would like it!" Sanam exclaimed.
"I'll only eat more...if you eat as well." Aahil said.
"But...I made this for you only."
"Sanam, we're no longer just two people. We're one."
Sanam looked at Aahil with surprise, but happiness as well. Aahil took a piece of the french toast and fed it to Sanam. After they finished the french toast, Aahil drank the juice. "Do you want to go outside?" Aahil asked.
"Outside?" Sanam asked.
"Yeah. We can go to the garden. It'll be nice." Aahil said.
"Sure." Sanam nodded.
Aahil got up and held out his hand for Sanam. Sanam held his hand and the two walked out of the room. As they headed outiside, Rehan and Asma saw them walking by. "Mashallah. They are a beautiful couple." Asma said.
"Yes. I've never seen Aahil bhai so happy before." Rehan told Asma.
"Well thats good. Sometimes only one person is needed to change someone's life." Asma smiled.
Rehan shyly smiled at Asma's statement. "I agree. My sentiments exactly." Rehan said.
Outside in the garden, Aahil and Sanam sat down on the grass. Aahil turned to Sanam, who was playing with her hair. "Sanam, are you...happy here with me?" Aahil asked Sanam.
"Of course I am," Sanam replied. "Its just...I'm a little scared."
"Of what?" Aahil asked.
"That man...Aslam...I'm worried. After he killed the Emperor...I was scared enough when he tried to have me killed," Sanam explained. "But now...what if he finds us?"
"Hey...don't worry," Aahil said."What matters is that we have each other now.I know...our circumstances have been difficult. But we can put that to the side and look at our own future...together.I'll find a nice job and we can try to settle somewhere. Until then, we'll be safe here.Do you trust me?"
Sanam looked up at Aahil. She smiled, putting her hand on Aahil's shoulder and nodded. "I do. And...its okay. I feel we'll be safe." Sanam said.
On the other hand, at the palace in Maharastra, Aslam was standing by the windows, impatient. One of his men then came up to him. "Well?!" Aslam asked in an angry tone.
"Sir, we've looked all over the city and still no sign of the girl."the man said.
"You idiots! And that Aahil and Rehan have left as well! They must have taken her away from the graveyard! Otherwise she couldn't dig herself out!" Aslam shouted.
"So what do we do?" the man asked.
"Send the men to other major cities in the country. I don't care how long it takes! That girl and Aahil must be found!" Aslam ordered.
"Yes, sir." the man said and then left.
Aslam sat down on the throne. I can only become official ruler...once that girl is taken cared of,Aslam thought to himself. And believe me...she isn't safe any longer.
