Chapter 1: Happy BirthdayIt was morning in the kingdom. The sunlight shined in through the windows of the princess' room. As a ray of light shined over the sleeping beauty, she slowly began to move out of her slumbering state. That was when Sanam had opened her eyes. She slowly rose, sitting up from her canopy bed. Her hair tangled and eyes droopy. She gave a great yawn. Then she smiled. Finally! The day is here! She thought to herself. Its my birthday!
Sanam jumped out of bed and rushed out of her room, heading downstairs. "Abbu! Abbu!" Sanam continued to call. She then reached one of the servants. "Where's Abbu?" Sanam asked the servant.
"He's in the dining room." the servant replied.
"Thank you."
Sanam rushed to the dining room, finding her father sitting at the dining table, waiting to eat breakfast. She ran happily to her father, giving him a big hug. "Happy Birthday, beta." her father said.
"Thank you, Abbu!" Sanam exclaimed!
"What's this, beta? You're not properly dressed. Go get ready and then come back so we can eat."
"Okay, Abbu."
Sanam headed back to her room. She took a shower, brushed her teeth, and took care of her messy hair. Afterwards, Sanam went through her closet to pick a dress to wear. She then found a cream salwar kameez and took it out to wear. She got dressed and put on a pair of earrings to match.
Sanam stood near her window, watching the people of the village down below. "I may not be allowed to go out of the palace. But seeing all these people is enough to make me happy." Sanam hurried downstairs to the dining table where breakfast was just being laid out. She sat with her father and the two happily ate breakfast together, chatting and munching on the delicious food. "Remember...tonight we're having a party for you. Make sure you're ready by then." the Emperor told Sanam. Sanam nodded with a smile on her face.
At nightime, many people across the lands of Maharastra were gathering in the palace for the celebrations. Sanam was in her room, getting ready for the occasion. Trying on multiple dresses, she finally picked a brick pink one to wear. She put the salwar on and the jewelry as well.
After getting ready, she stood proudly. "Now this is a beautiful one! Abbu never fails in his selection!" she exclaimed. She decided to head downstairs after a while. While guests were continuing to make their way in the palace, two men in black coats were standing out near the bushes in hiding. "Aahil bhai..."one of the men whispered. The other man looked at him. He had a stern look on his face, his hair in a stiff condition and a stubble on his face. "What Rehan?" Aahil replied.
"When do we go in?"
"Aslam bhai will call."
Thats when a ringing sound abrupted, Aahil quickly took out his phone from his jacket pocket. "Yes, sir." he replied. Aahil listened to the instructions he was being given over the phone. He nodded and hung up. "We can go now." he said.
"Aahil bhai...this doesn't seem right." Rehan said.
"Our job is not to question anything. Just do as you're told," Aahil responded. "Stay here and get the car ready. Most of the guests have arrived. When no one is here, you give me a call. And I'll come down." Rehan nodded with a tensed face.
In her room, Sanam was talking on her phone to a friend. "But Haya, you promised to come. Whenever you came here for schooling, you never missed class. And now that its my birthday you can't come!" Sanam exclaimed. As Sanam was busy talking on the phone, she was oblivious of Aahil entering her room through the balcony. He had climbed upward the palace using a ladder and entered in the room. He stared at Sanam who was turned towards him. "Okay bye." Sanam said, ending the call. She turned around, shocked to see Aahil who was standing right near her. "Who are you?! What are you doing in here?!" Sanam asked Aahil.
Aahil grabbed Sanam by her arm and said, "The less questions the better." Sanam was about to scream for help until Aahil covered her face with a piece of cloth that was covered in ether. In a matter of seconds, Sanam passed out and fell into Aahil's arms. As she laid unconscious in his arms, Aahil couldn't help but look at her face. It had an intriguing glow to it with her shiny hair rubbing against his shoulder. When he came back to his senses, he took other pieces of cloth from his jacket pockets and tied them around Sanam's mouth and her hands. Thats when he received Rehan's call as a signal that all the guests were inside. He picked her up and headed towards the balcony. He let down a rope from the balcony, and he went down the rope along with Sanam. When he got to the ground, he found Rehan standing next to the car. "Open the door." Aahil ordered.
"How did she pass out?"
"I used an ether soaked cloth."
"Was that necessary?!"
"It makes the job easier! Now open the door!"
Rehan reluctantly complied and opened the back door of the car. Aahil placed Sanam inside the car and closed the door. Aahil and Rehan got inside the front of the car and Aahil drove off. Sanam laid unconscious in the car, unaware of what was to come ahead for her.
