Before I get into the poem, I would like to say DAMN GURLS. You guys can really write. Like I had to look away for a second after I was done reading to normalize the tension in the air. Had me from the start, and it just built without a drop ANYWHERE along the poem. You guys got the tone JUST right, it was beautiful. I loved it, and you guys are amazing <3

It was kind of like a slightly more youthful & less gory and "we're all gonna be killed" version of Edgar Allen Poe. And I love that dude (even though he's a psycho).

(He's my psycho <3)

This poem was such A Dream, it made me want to go get ice cream. <--And this is why I'm not a poet. Excuse my pathetic attempts at humor and "poetry."

The particulars:

-Loved the metaphoric "circle" in stanza 21.

-The motif and what I found to be one of the themes, simplicity of life and the inevitable end, kept bringing the reader back when he'd drifted just enough off the shore of the poem.

-Lines that particularly stayed with me when I was done reading were:

"It was supposed to be simple

But how did it end.


My life was never an example
Even back then


My life was simple
Then why must it end "

It was supposed to be simple goes to--> it was simple. Was that disbelief, ignorance, or the rightful choice to be happy? Life was an individual concept, not meant to be an example. Even back then. But regardless, I love how to completed the "story" reminding us that it did end.
