First of all, I'd like to happily point out that I'm tremendously enjoying this discussion thanks to a very mature postmaker (mamta-s) and also all the comment-makers!
This is something I've craved for the longest of time! For us to sit and discuss- without anyone having a go at each other- issues, however trivial they may be.

Kudos, dearest postmaker, I was doubtful- if this would be a mature discussion. However, I was glad to know I was wrong!

Everything starts off with someone somewhere with a story to tell. And then that story is so good that in matter of no time it garners popularity. And this popularity is so great that the story now holds a certain power over it's loyal fans.

Now, like Uncle Ben told Peter (Parker),"With power, comes responsibility" the story too has a responsibility towards that power it has over its fans and audience proper.

In today's time and age, story gets forgotten along the way, people watch tv serials for high voltage drama, over-hyped twists and some good old romance.

There are some viewers who watch TV for the sake of watching. Not nice? Change channel. Still not nice? Change channel. This goes on right back to the first channel, and one quietly watches, the least uninteresting of 'em all.

And then there are some, who do not watch a serial, they watch their favourite star. This we do only ALL the time.

As pointed out by Pri (delena90) movies like Chennai Express and Yeh Jawani Hai Deeewani lack backstory, I couldn't agree more, but no one, absolutely no one can stop me from watching an SRK movie. And I don't like most of Ra-One. Hated it. But one word against SRK, you'll have me as an enemy. See my blind loyalty? And I'm not wrong too.

Some can try stopping me from watching Ranbir's movie. I still haven't watched Besharam.

Drama is the selling point. The masala mix. The sheer brilliance of the unthinkable. Drawing reference to Qubool Hai-

When Haseena first got Nikhat and co to come to her house and then got Najma and co over too. That's twist. High voltage drama came right immediately! Didn't we all went woah!

Then Ayaan invalid Nikah with Zoya-twist. And that got us great load of dramas. In and out of the show. I thought the nikah bit was absolutely illogical, BUT, twisted as may be, I LOVED the whole Zoyaan track, simply because while it was unrealistic, there were some amazing things we got to see. The crying, screaming, more crying, and some much needed confrontation!

Even before that, when Imran was shown to us as the father as Tanveer's baby-that's twist. The drama bit came gradually, with Tannu setting her (good) eye on Asad.

And then the news of Ghaffur being Zoya's father, and the entry of Tanveer in the first place.

The twist that didn't sit too well with me was Dilshad entering and staying for good at the Siddiquis. That's even worse than the accidental nikah of Ayyan and Zoya. And to add salt to the wound, all glory Asad followed suit! Still, I was unfazed. Even more dramas. More crying and shouting and confrontation!!

Twist. Drama.

I remember some 15-18 years back when I'd watch dramas like Swabhimaan and Tipu Sultan with my mother and how we would rush home just so we won't miss a scene, let alone an episode. Mind you, I could be in my Hello Kitty pjs. Also how we would get tapes from Pakistan for their serials, I remember Dhoop Kinarey best, the leading actress, incidentally, also name Zoya, Dr Zoya Khan.

There's also a show that I watched- Rishta.com, absolutely brilliant!

That's all great tv. No high-voltage drama. No twist in the tale.

And these days everything's online. Watch what you want. Don't, what you don't.

And just to answer the question- yes am watching Qubool Hai, have never missed an episode to date (thanks to online videos). Why? Drama. Twist. And then some.

I am with you on every point you made except ZOYAAN ( by now you might have guessed how much I hate it :)), ZOYAAN is the stupidest twist ever compared to any illogical twists that they showed so far including Dilshad moving to SM, the reason being the difference in subtlities of the circumstances. In ZOYAAN case, we are talking about the new age characters that too Zoya and Ayaan, who are more outgoing and rebellious in some sense. How could they walk away sans clearing the air when the photos are being taken and they being congratulated for getting married? Above all, according to Nikah rules, bride and groom should say QH thrice but ZOYAAN said 'haan' that too only once in response to a phone conversation. In Dilshad case, I was able to convince myself that she is true to her character by forgiving Rashid again and again. Dilshad let him come back to her after he had Ayaan with Shireen and she continued with that nature, though it was regressive and degrading way of showing a women, at least it was convincing from the kind of character Dilshad is, forgiving and blindly in love women.

Glad to see a good healthy discussion at last in this space. I do not remember one continuing for so long without bashing each other. There have been times that I have been so disappointed with the uncalled for aggressiveness on this forum that I have decided to hide ...but for some reason or the other I have returned. So it goes without saying that there is a magnetic draw that pulls one here ...even a nay sayer like me.

That for me is enough indication of the interest we all have in QH ...for some it was and is the story, for others it is the star cast ..esp Karan,Surbhi and the entire ensemble .some like Karan and not Surbhi...others vice versa . Many like both and it is Kabhi that held them here. I am an unabashed admirer of Karan's talent and followed him here from his DMG days..will follow him wherever he goes.Yet I will never resort to bashing anyone else as I am sure all try their best under the prevailing circumstances.

For many of us we come here regularly as it a habit to look for each other and share views on the latest developments!

I am happy we came so far today . Thank you Farz( may I call you that ?) for the vote of confidence. Maybe old age makes me benign ...or maybe I have other platforms to release my angst. In this social space I would continue to remain affable . Welcome debate .. reminiscent of the great activity of our school and college days.

Good night ..and may you all enjoy tonight's chapter in the unique QH story ..and agree to disagree happily :)

I am not watching the serial any more, to be honest, i stopped watching it when they showed accidental nikah, after that i used to watch in bits and pieces and that too only sometimes, speciafically for Razia (Alka) scenes and Karan Surbhi scenes, i think they are brilliant as actors. These three brought a certain life to the show by their presence, no matter how lame the story at times were. But few days after the entry of new Asad, i stopped watching those bits and pieces also.

As far as the story of QH is related, firstly, I have never been a fan of the indian serials, mainly because of the lack of common sense, their longevity, poor acting, glamour quotient and the list goes on.

Coming to QH, I saw a few promos when it was going to start, weren't impressive, for me atleast-rather a put-off, majorly because of the concept. Why I started watching it then?? Accidentally, i came across a video clip of a scene where zoya was refering to asad as jahapanah bond, and it reminded me of the haseena moin's and fatima surraiya bajiya's serial i use to watch while growing up. And i found it interesting to see some thing like that on indian tv. and so i watched the serial from the first epi on net and for a change i found it different from what little i have seen of other indian serials. It had some pretty decent actors, except for the one who played Ayaan, he did not know how to act neither was he good looking (in my opinion).

The story was nice ,light, had a distinct freshness and moved at a good pace, the lead pair was nice and different, may be their attire and characterization made them look different, though i do not find them as attractive individually as many here in the forum think they are...and thats again my personal choice, but as a pair they complemented each other really well, and i think it was the best pairing that i have seen in any indian serial till now. I will also especially mention Alka here, she as Razia has been brilliant. Then came in Vikrant as Ayaan and i thought why wasnt he there from the start, brilliant actor with a very good diction, esp. his urdu diction was at par, even better than Karan's ( i mentioned him here because he was the other lead at that time besides VM)

But after a few months, the story got off track and i think the writers got confused as to how to stretch the serial and that i think was the biggest mistake. They showed one after another illogical rather pathetic stuff in the name of entertainment. The show became over crowded with unnecessary characters and twists so much that everything became disjointed and it became like any other mediocre show. I find it boring now so have moved on and am now watching some simple but really nice shows from your neighbours.

Most definitely M'am, you may call me Farz! Thank you for mentioning me! My take on it all, old or not, passion is most important! I love everything and anything Hindi. And good looking people! And good story. And execution. And most of all am a sucker for great acting talent!

I appreciate Karan for the most part of his role as Asad. Such great screen presence. And Surbhi, a newcomer, for being able to meet, and maintain and then to hold the same, I appreciate her even more. Love them, I do, with fervour too. But love alone is not enough.

Mdm. While it may prove to be difficult, we sometimes do try to control our passion, however, it is when we do, that we realise how great that passion really is, so great, that you're able to not make a total mockery out of it. Some people mistake great passion with blind loyalty. Am just glad that we are for the most part, above that. We don't love blindly. We love with reason. However trivial they may be. Which is why, while the exit of Karan from the show is painful to all fans alike, it is true fans such as yourself that make us other fans real proud. Stand tall and proud, he's loved with reasons! No bashing required.

Would love to have you stay, maybe for other topics for debate?

While I did watch until a few episodes heck I watched even the Zoyaan track (strictly because of VM) and did not mind Asad's replacement but too many twists and turns makes no sense to me.
I can't tolerate Tanveer anymore. And her marrying gauffar was the last straw for me.
